2. Features and benefits

Zenaqua® is a comprehensive automation solution, specifically designed for the aqua-culture sector. It is a controlled, supervised and monitored system. The main objective is to efficiently manage all the elements likely to be automated in a land-based fish farm for investigation and also for produc-tion.

Zenaqua® consists of different units which can work independently. All these units are connected to the central system Zenaqua® Server, where the total integration of all the units takes place.

The use of the robustest industrial net-works gives Zenaqua® great flexibility in the distribution and location of the different control devices of the system. Thus, the fi-nal solution adjusts better to the real needs for each specific case.

Zenaqua® system works mainly with a dis-tributed control architecture, which gives a higher robustness to the whole system since the remote control is as close as possible to the devices to be controlled.

Moreover, Zenaqua® makes it possible to duplicate different control devices to in-crease maximum system availability. Both Zenaqua® control devices and telecom-munications networks can be installed in

redundancy and thus it increases system robustness.

2.2 Modularity

2.3 Flexibility

2.4 Distributed control and robustness

Zenaqua® consists of a series of specific units, but allows the integration of control units that already exists. In these cases, Zenaqua® system can be used as a super-visory system or as a control system if the system is ready for it.

2.5 Integration of existing equipment

Zenaqua® fully manages the alarm system and sends warnings via SMS when a fail-ure requires the action of the maintenance team. In the application Zenaqua®, all the alarms are stored and separated by each control unit. The application also registers when the alarms have been visualized and deleted.

Zenaqua® keeps a register with all actions performed on the system by the staff in order to determine the causes of an anom-alous performance in the system. This will reduce the time spent finding failures, problems and responsibilities.

Zenaqua® allows the exploitation of the his-torical data collected by the application and enables users to monitor different variables of the system. It also allows exporting data to a spreadsheet and programming an au-tomatic sending of reports with the main system variables.

2.6 Warning and alarm management

2.8 Tracking of incidences

2.7 Exploitation of historical data

One of the keys for the correct functioning of the system is to perform a proper main-tenance. Zenaqua® has large amounts of data which allow performing a proper pre-ventive maintenance of the system, such as:

Zenaqua® also integrates features to help the maintenance team find out some possible failures.

· Pumps working time · Number of starts per day · Number of pulses of solenoid valves · Power and energy consumption · Lamps working time

3. Zenaqua® units

Zenaqua® consists of different units which subsequently integrate with the data of the existing system equipment.

The main units of Zenaqua® system are the recirculation unit, made up of IRTAmar® modules and the supply, photoperiod and booster units. There are also some other units such as the unit of electrical supply, cold&heat, ventilation, parameter meas-urement, water storage, temperature con-trol or water intake among others.

IRTAmar® modules are the result of more than 12 years of research experience in the aquaculture centre that IRTA (Institute of Agrifood research and technology) has in Sant Carles de la Ràpita, Tarragona, Spain.

IRTAmar® is a multifunctional and auto-matic recirculation module, suitable for research on aquaculture, production and aquariology. It is specifically designed to cover a wide range of possibilities with sin-gle equipment, which highlights its versatil-ity, reliability and traceability.

With all IRTA’s know how in recirculation systems, IRTAmar® meets all customer,s requirements. It is used for the farming of fish, crustaceans and bivalves, at all stages: larvae, alevin, juvenile and broodstock.

· Temperature · Flow · Oxygen · Filtration · pH · Salinity · Potential RedOx · Protein skimmer · Degassing · Water renewal · Aeration · Tank level

IRTAmar® control system allows defining setpoint trends, which can vary daily and weekly, to make easier the tasks of opera-tors and to eliminate technological limita-tions in the definition of the experiments.

The photoperiod unit manages the on/off farming lighting to control the hours of day-light and darkness. There are different types of control which can be selected by users:

· Start daylight time/End daylight time. · Ratio of daylight/darkness hours. · Simulation of dawn and sunset times at a specific place and time of year.

The system performs a gradual on and off, eliminating the stress caused by sudden on and off lightning. The total on/off time can be configured between 10 and 20 minutes, simulating as much as possible the solar be-haviour in nature.

Zenaqua® allows the integration of the pho-toperiod control unit in each recirculation module in order to facilitate the modularity of the solution and reduce control costs.

Zenaqua® feeder control unit is a very ver-satile control unit allowing a wide range of programming and configurations. Its ver-satility allows it to be used with different commercial feeders to feed larvae, alevin, juvenile, and broodstock. It can be config-ured to work following a schedule or self-request.

It allows controlling from 15 up to 64 feed-ers independently and can define up to 12 different dosages each day during one week.

To achieve the control objectives, Zenaqua manages the automation of the pressure groups to optimize the necessary energy consumption. Depending on each case, a constant flow or a constant pressure is maintained by Zenaqua. This is achieved with variable frequency drives, soft start-ers and by performing an efficient manage-ment in pump starts and alternations.

Apart from the main units, Zenaqua® allows the integration of elements that already ex-ist in the system to monitor and/or control such elements. It also offers other control units such as the unit of electrical supply, cold&heat, aeration, parameter measure-ment, water storage, temperature control or network outlet among others.

4. Architecture and access to data

Zenaqua® viewer provides a user interface to program and configure the system, and also to export historical data from the dif-ferent variables of the system.

Zenaqua® viewer can be installed in several computers of the corporate network and several people can simultaneously work on the system.

Zenaqua® server is the heart of the system. It is responsible for communicating with the other Zenaqua® units to collect data about the state of the devices, for man-aging the alarms and generating automatic reports.

4.1 Zenaqua® server

For simpler applications, Zenaqua® mobile allows monitoring and programming Zena-qua units by using a native next-generation device application that communicates di-rectly with the controllers, without the need to exchange data with Zenaqua® server.

To facilitate maximum mobility of work-ers, Zenaqua® remote can display the main parameters of the system through a next-generation device provided with browser, like smartphones and tablets.

Ingesom technical team moves to your fa-cilities to implement Zenaqua®. During that period, they check the correct functioning of all units and elements managed by Ze-naqua®.

After the implementation, they train the technical staff to learn how to use the dif-ferent Zenaqua® units and the basic main-tenance tasks.

Ingesom team makes a prior consultancy to determine the necessary requirements of the system to be implemented by Ze-naqua®.

Ingesom seeks to offer the best after-sales service by offering a “survival kit” with the basic elements of the system to reduce the reaction time in the event of possible failures. Ingesom also offers after-sales guarantee on its equipment and support to the technical staff to resolve any incident that may occur on the normal running of the system.
