1 Intended Audience These processes and procedures described herein are primarily intended for parties who will be
involved in the initial load of the client and any end-users who will need to load the client manually.
1.1 Assumptions
It is assumed that the reader is familiar with basic computer navigation, unzipping a file, removing
software, installing software and copying folders onto a computer.
1.2 Definitions
TKO – Technical Knowledge Online
Client – The part of the TKO system that allows users to view content
User – Person with an authorized account to use the TKO application for viewing content that has
been published
2 Overview Emerson has created an automatic load program which is intended to be used with the proprietary
TKO application. Every effort has been taken to ensure a proper installation given that the computer
system meets the minimum requirements.
3 Installer Components The following programs will be loaded during this process if required:
 Microsoft Windows PowerShell
 Microsoft Windows installer
 Microsoft .net framework
 Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express
 TKO updater program
 TKO application
 TKO database

Operating System: Microsoft XP or higher
Hard Drive: Minimum of 10 GB of available space on C:\
RAM: Minimum 1 GB (depending on the applications loaded on the computer, 1 GB may not
be sufficient and may require the user to upgrade the system)
Person loading the client must have administration rights on the computer
*** Each user will be assigned an activation key. This activation key will be registered to the
specific computer that it is first entered with. THE ACTIVATION KEY CANNOT BE
REUSED ON MULTIPLE COMPUTERS. This is a security layer that has been added to the
application for legal purposes.
4 Installation Steps If a previous version of TKO was installed on the machine, TKO and the TKO Autoupdater programs
will need to be removed, as well as deleting the contents of the c:\TKOClient\backup directory.
4.1 Pre-Install Check – Remove SQL Server Components
Go to start Control Panel Add or remove programs.
If SQL Server is already loaded on the machine, all components must be removed if it is prior to SQL
Server 2008.

4.5 Run the client load program
Locate the TKO-32.exe file either in your installation media, or via ftp link that was emailed to you.
All components of the client will be transferred to the machine no matter where the executable file is
located.
If you have a 64-bit operating system you will need the TKO-64.exe file to be executed.
4.6 Progress Screens
The initial program launch will confirm the installation, reboot your computer, and automatically
launch the installation program. During the installation, progress screens will be displayed to indicate
the progress and processes.

After continuing from this screen, the system checks for a minimum of 10 GB of free space on the C:\
drive. If that exists, the system reboots and begins the installation process. If the operating system is
a 64-bit OS, the install will stop and prompt the user to download and install TKO-64.exe, which will
automatically restart this installation.

4.8 Activation Key
At the end of the TKO Application install, the program must register back with
the server to verify the authorization. You must be connected to the Internet to allow this registration to occur. An email is sent to the user that will contain the
activation code below that needs to be entered.
*** Each user will be assigned one activation key. This activation key will be registered to the
specific computer that it is first entered with. THE ACTIVATION KEY CANNOT BE
REUSED ON MULTIPLE COMPUTERS. This is a security layer that has been added to the
application for legal purposes. If the user changes computers, a new activation code will be
required and the old activation code will be deactivated.
At this point, the installation batch file will end after you hit the final ‘Press any key to continue’.
4.9 Desktop Icon
The user should now have the boxing glove icon on the desktop and ready for use.

4.10 Getting the latest content files
There is an updater service program that will be running on each TKO machine continually. The
updater program will periodically contact the TKO server and get any updates that the user has access
to. The user does not have to do anything to start the program or to request new information. As long
as the machine has access to the internet, the program will do the rest. These files are encrypted for
security purposes.
After the initial client installation, TKO data will automatically download as long as you have Internet
access. Depending on the connection speed several hours may be needed to receive all the data files.
