1) How did you start dancing? My mom enrolled me in many activities, includ-ing ballet. I hoped that it would eventually whittle down to one. And at about age 4, I started focusing on dance. 2) How long have you been dancing? 11 1/2 years. I started all those activities at 2 1/2 yrs. old. 3) What do you enjoy most about ballet? Performing. Your body takes over and all you have to think about is stage presence. At this point, you can really feel the love dance. 4) What is your dance dream? I would be thrilled to be accepted into the Harid Conservatory’s year round program. After graduat-ing from there, a good college with a nice dance program would probably be the next step. 5) What is the hardest part about dance?

In ballet, almost nothing comes easy. I and many other dancers get easily frustrated. For some this can even lead to eating problems, low self esteem, and some even quit. 6) How do you get over the challenges? I have to remind myself that I am still a successful person even if I can’t do something right. With time and ef-fort, it will no longer be an issue. This grow is what we call improve-ment, and without it we could not get any more advanced in ballet. 7) What advice can you give to new ballerinas? Never give up. Work hard at all times and it will pay off, I promise. 8) Who do you look up to in dance? I look up to any successful ballerinas that can offer me inspiration.

She is 13-years-old. Dances with Classical Ballet Haydee Gutierrez, and Gail Horton with Cheryl Lee Studio of Dance.

Ballet. Ballet is a fun way to dance. You can be what ever you believe. Everyone can do it. So do not say you can’t because can’t is a can trying to be a note. Just believe you can do it and over the years you will be able to do it. Have fun and do what you’re teacher tells you to do.

So what you first start give it a change and do not quit because quitters never win and winnder never quit. You will meet new friends and be good at ballet so please do you’re best and do not quit. If you get scared you just take a deep breath to calm down. I love it but that’s just me. So go give it a chance.Have fun I do. It takes a lot of balance. So just smile and have fun

You will have a lot of friends I do. Ballet is a dance to have fun. It will you never know until the time comes. You might not like it at first. For one thing it will come in handy. You never know when like I said. So have fun and smile big. So have fun and enjoy it.

Stage fright no more

“I'm 9 years old, and I started dance when I was 3 years old. I

didn't right away start with lyrical, first ballet, and tap. And I had my

first recital when I was 3 years old.

Stage fright no more

our hands begin to sweat.

our heart begins to race.

our stomach begins to turn.

While placing your cold hands on the red velvet curtain, you peak out

into the crowd.

Seeing only darkness and outlines of people sitting.

Looking up at the bright white lights, you

squint your eyes and exhale.

Have you ever experienced this feeling, right before you walk on stage?

If YES:

What happened next? Did you freeze?

Did you forget the dance? Did you run away?

Did you cry?

This article will help you to walk confidently into the spotlight and dance.

f you can master these 7 simple tips, you should never fear the spotlight again.

ITaking deep breaths can help relax your muscles and relieve the jittery feeling. Try breathing in through your nose and holding for 3 seconds, and then out through your mouth, slowly. When you focus on your breathing, you relax your physical, mental and emotional stresses.

The more your practice, the more comfort-able you will feel with the choreography. When your dance instructor tells your class to do the dance again and again and again, it can be upsetting. The teachers do that because they know you will be more comfort-able dancing and enjoy performing on stage if you don’t have to the dance over and over again helps you remember and be able to go on stage and dance, not think.

Tip #1: Simple: breathe

Tip #2: Practice.

Tip #3: No one is there

Tip #4: Only you know

Tip #5: Believe in You

Tip #7: Dance

Tip #6: Smile

The bright lights above you create a black out in the audience. When you look out, what do you see? Nothing. Maybe a few lights from cameras or flashes, but other than that the people watching are only outlines. You won’t know when the audience is looking at you. It is almost as if you are dancing with no audience at all. It is exciting to hear the loud applause at the end – Oh yeah, I forgot people were watching.

The only person who knows the choreogra-phy is you. That means when you mess up, no one will notice but you. The trick is to not make a face or get upset on stage when you mess up. If you don’t act like anything went wrong, the audience will never know.

You must believe in yourself. Let me repeat that again … you MUST believe in yourself. Not your friend dancing next to you who can lift her leg above her head. You MUST believe in YOU. If you believe in yourself, you can succeed in whatever you want to do. Even if you are not the most flexible dancer in class, you can strive to be as flexible as you can be. Don’t focus on being the best. Focus on being the best dancer You can be.

You smile – the person smiles back – you smile again – the person smiles back again. You both feel happy and relaxed. So Smile.

You perform to dance. You go to class to dance. You are reading this magazine because you enjoy dancing. So, don’t let your fears or nerves take over your love for dancing. Just Dance.

hat Now?

The important thing to remember is that you are not alone. Stage fright happens at some point in all of our lives. Whether you

are a dancer, or singer, or actor. Even the most

famous prima ballerinas have experienced stage fright before.

ow long?

It takes time to master these tips and get over stage fright. If you have the drive

to succeed in dance and the passion to never give up, then stage fright will never

stop you from reaching your dreams.

If you want to dance.

If you want to be a ballerina.

Then nothing can stop you! Not even stage fright.

Dancing is just discovery, discovery, discovery M
