Tonight’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings marks the Cleveland Cavaliers third game of the 2010-11 regular season. The Cavs have won eight consecutive games against Sacramento, including both matchups against the Kings in 2009-10. The last time these two teams met, Antawn Jamison tallied 26 points and nine rebounds to lead the Cavs to a 97-90 victory at Quicken Loans Arena on March 28, 2010. The Cavs are 51-51 all-time against the Kings, including 33-18 at home.

With Byron Scott at the helm, the Cavs went 6-2 in the preseason, their best since 2004. There are six new players on the team, but some familiar faces led the Cavs to an impressive preseason. Daniel Gibson poured in a team-high 14.4 points, while J.J. Hickson added 14.3 points and a team-best 8.1 rebounds. In the last two preseason games, Anthony Parker had just one turnover, while chipping in 14.0 points and 4.5 assists in 35.5 minutes per game. The Cavaliers are playing their second home game of the regular season tonight. After the Cavs home game against Atlanta on Tuesday, the team will go on a three-game road trip with stops in Philadelphia, Washington and New Jersey.

The Kings are led by last season’s NBA Rookie of the Year, Tyreke Evans, who averaged 14.3 points and 5.0 assists during the preseason. Last June, they drafted DeMarcus Cousins with the fifth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and he also averaged 14.3 points to go along with a team-best 8.0 rebounds in the preseason. The Cavs and Kings will wrap up their two-game series on March 16th at ARCO Arena.
