In Hall Of Fame, the producers have created two different narratives. This is done so the audience doesn’t get bored of the individual narrative. Moreover, it is easier to relate to, since the narrative appeals to both genders.

Despite that the song consumes a similar narrative, the video is significantly more performance based.

However, this is because Tina was a product of her time and narrative has only become popular in the contemporary music industry.

ConclusionThe narrative of Simply the Best, is similar to Hall Of Fame. Thus, we will use some ideas from the video to try and convey our narrative.

However, we are drawing away from the performance based music video, since our target audience are interested in narrative based music videos.

To create our narrative, we will consider copying the ‘mise en scene’ of black and white (which we can do using colour corrector’). Since this emphasises that we have to go through the hard times to succeed.

Cinematography

Various different shots such as ‘close up’, to keep the audience interested.

This emphasises the narrative of the song, that “you’re the best”, since a horse is looked upon as vey courageous animal and a virtue of a hero is courage.

The shot quality is not of very good, since they wouldn’t have the camera’s in which The Script had available. However, we can relate to the this, since we have basic cameras. Thus, we can use specific shots like ‘close up’ to convey our narrative.

Despite their being a narrative, in this video the focus is mostly on Tina herself.

In Hall Of Fame, they focus on the narrative, however, like this video the members of the Script are also included in the narrative.

In this music video, they have series of different shots on Tina, to show she is the main focus. Moreover, to get different perspectives of the music video

Conclusion

This video as helped us with some ideas for conveying the narrative through cinematography. We are going to focus on our band members, as well as the extra characters. Like Hall Of Fame.

However, we are going to offer more narrative methods, since this music video is merely focused on Tina.
