Dear St. Peter School Families, It has been a tremendous blessing to get back to the business of education here in the month of August. I am incredibly grateful to our faculty and staff who have worked incredibly hard to get us ready to start this school year. So far, the new dynamic of educating students on- campus and virtually simultaneously has been largely successful, with only a few technologi- cal hiccups along the way. As we continue to gain confidence and try new things, we will likely run into a few snags, but I am overwhelmingly pleased by how teachers have implemented a variety of assignment types, projects and activities, and the creative new ways we are reaching both on-campus and distance learners. I'd like to draw your attention to two items in this month's newsletter that are looking a little different this year. First, our bi-annual Scholastic Book Fair is taking place virtually this fall. This is a terrific event each time and since it is completely on-line, we have allotted two weeks for this event. Simply visit our school link and make your selections and pass along our link to friends and family who may want to shop for books while supporting our school. Shipping is free with a $25 purchase and there are thousands of titles to choose from. Reading is a remarkable predictor of academic success! Two pieces of advice I have for all families are - have a family reading time where everyone reads at the same time, even if it's in silence (make sure your student sees you reading!) and, when your student has finished their reading, talk to them about what they have read! Second, our annual 5K Fun Run is taking place over two weeks in October. Again, this will be a virtual event rather than an in-person one. Our goal is to increase our participation by 25%, and register 125 people. Everyone is welcome, so be sure to sign up your friends, family, neighbors, pets, old college roomates, your HEB checkout workers, and that guy who must have the same commute as you because you always see him on the road on your drive to and from work. It is a great event with a lot of flexibility and a great cause! All the proceeds ben- efit our school if you register on time! Thank you again for your trust in us. • Dear St. Peter School Families,

It has been a tremendous blessing to get back to the business of education here in the month

of August. I am incredibly grateful to our faculty and staff who have worked incredibly hard to

get us ready to start this school year. So far, the new dynamic of educating students on-

campus and virtually simultaneously has been largely successful, with only a few technologi-

cal hiccups along the way. As we continue to gain confidence and try new things, we will likely

run into a few snags, but I am overwhelmingly pleased by how teachers have implemented a

variety of assignment types, projects and activities, and the creative new ways we are reaching

    both on-campus and distance learners.

I'd like to draw your attention to two items in this month's newsletter that are looking a little

    different this year.

First, our bi-annual Scholastic Book Fair is taking place virtually this fall. This is a terrific event

each time and since it is completely on-line, we have allotted two weeks for this event. Simply

visit our school link and make your selections and pass along our link to friends and family

who may want to shop for books while supporting our school. Shipping is free with a $25

purchase and there are thousands of titles to choose from. Reading is a remarkable predictor

of academic success! Two pieces of advice I have for all families are - have a family reading

time where everyone reads at the same time, even if it's in silence (make sure your student

sees you reading!) and, when your student has finished their reading, talk to them about what

    they have read!

Second, our annual 5K Fun Run is taking place over two weeks in October. Again, this will be

a virtual event rather than an in-person one. Our goal is to increase our participation by 25%,

and register 125 people. Everyone is welcome, so be sure to sign up your friends, family,

neighbors, pets, old college roomates, your HEB checkout workers, and that guy who must

have the same commute as you because you always see him on the road on your drive to and

from work. It is a great event with a lot of flexibility and a great cause! All the proceeds ben-

efit our school if you register on time!

Thank you again for your trust in us.

Once again we mourn the loss of a St. Peter School legend. Mary

Ann Leopold, principal of SPS for 22 years, passed away this week.

She lived a life of ministry and service, taking care of God's children

and doing His work. Mrs. Leopold is pictured on the left, seen here

with her dear friend Pat Cross, herself an SPS icon who we lost

within the last year. No doubt they are sharing heaven's front porch

this morning. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you

were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities.

Come, share your master’s joy.’ - Matthew 25:21

    COVID-19 FORM

As part of our new reality, we have a new form that should be completed by all students who are or will be on campus

for the school day or part of any school activity.

The Acknowledgement Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 form is on the following page. If your student is currently

participating in on-campus instruction, please return this form to Mrs. Pawelek or Mrs. Escamilla in the school offices. If your student is currently in distance learning,

this form will need to be completed prior to their return to campus.

Thank you for your assistance with this new requirement.

It is time once again the annual Hope for the Future 5K fun run. This year the run will be a virtual run where families will register online and track their own progress. Each registrant will have between October 11

    th and October 25

th to finish their 5K which means no showing

up at 6AM to run, plus you can run together as a family or with friends at your convenience. Registration is $15 each. 100% of ALL funds will come back to the St. Peter’s. Each registra-tion includes a T-shirt and other fun items.

Last year you all were tremendous in helping us reach our goal of 100 participants. This year our goal is to get 125 registrations, and raise $2500. You can also donate through the Arch-diocese sponsorship link. Both the registration and sponsorship link are below.

There will be cash prizes for school participation, funds raised, and school video submis-sions.

Using the hashtag #Catholicschool5K we hope families and friends will tag their school to show their support of Catholic Schools and upload pictures and/or videos of their participa-tion.

Thank you for all of your support for St. Peter Prince School.

    TIGER SPIRIT

    TOLERANCE, INTEGRITY, GENEROSITY, EMPATHY, RESPONSIBILITY

ST. PETER PRAYER St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles, you were given the keys to the king-dom of heaven. As the first pope, guide us to what is always true and

good. Blessed Apostle St. Peter, whose name means “rock,” Jesus chose you to build his Church. Help me build tolerance, integrity, generosity, empathy, and responsibility within my community of

faith. St. Peter, pray for us!
