DEN MEETINGS Choose a day/time/location to meet

1 60 – 70 minute den meeting a month

1 “Go See It” a month Discuss how the meetings will be run

Who will host/run each den meeting?

Structure/order of events during the meeting?

Parents have same responsibility each month or switch from month to month?

Get to know your parents a little before deciding the above. Delegate adult responsibilities. A few ideas:

Keeping den money and purchasing supplies

Recording awards and turning the list into the pack awards chair.

Taking and distributing photos from den meetings and activities

Craft or den projects ideas/coordinating and supplies

Completing and turning in Tour Planning Worksheets.

Arriving early and assisting the den chief with gathering activities.

Flag etiquette and ceremonies. Create a “Den Calendar of Events”

Time/date/location of each den meeting.

Decide which specific achievements or electives will be fulfilled during which meetings.

Keep it simple…make it easy and enjoyable for all. Complexity can always be added in as you see the need arise.

“Go See Its”

Each Tiger must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Set the location, date, and time, and distribute directions.

Two weeks before the “G.S.I” complete and file a Tour Planning Worksheet, if needed.

Distribute directions/details to each Tiger family.

When at the “G.S.I” bring along a copy of “Safe Scouting”, each scout’s “Personal Info Forms” with emergency contacts, and everyone’s cell phone numbers.

Arrange carpooling based on “Youth Protection Guidelines”. Den discipline

Discuss with parents any discipline guidelines or methods…so everyone agrees beforehand what will be done.

Work with Tigers to create a “Tiger Den Code of Conduct” during 1st den meeting. Make a poster of it, have each Scout sign it, and ensure it is displayed during each den meeting…can even recite it at each meeting.
