Connections Making Them Type persons name in search box Click on Connect button and select how you know this person Could Use Other Option, then type in persons email address All invite requests: ideally, add personal note and then send invite 6. Connections Accepting Them Double click on envelope icon on the menu bar takes you to Inbox Double click on the invite Depending on your settings, you may also see the invite in your email inbox Click on View Profile 7. Connections Accepting Them, contd Review the persons profile Look for shared connections Decide if you want to be connected with this person If yes, click on Accept; If not click on Ignore Other option is Reply (found in drop down option by Accept) 8. Increase Your LinkedIn Visibility Update your profile periodically Monitor your newsfeed daily Share updates daily and post weekly via long form blog posts Comment on other peoples posts 9. Updates and Posts on LinkedIn Status reports use update box found on the Home page Use the long-form post to blog on the LinkedIn site In either updates or posts, provide tips, ask questions, share success stories of your own or of others Link to your newsletter, to your YouTube channel and other places where you have an online presence 10. Editing Your Profile Click on Edit profile or just click on Profile Click on pencil icon for editing a section, which could include adding something to the section Make changes and click on Save 11. Click on Edit Profile To the right of each section is an icon with one arrow pointing up and other pointing down Click on the icon and move the section to where you want it to appear. Endorsements for Skills and Expertise List your skills and areas of expertise Your connections can endorse you Can have up to 50 skills Regularly review your skills to be sure they are the ones to stress Put most important skills first 19. Effective Use of Groups Review your current groups to identify people to connect with or threads to follow and comment on Find groups by typing key words into search box and only search groups Review the group(s) that come up and see if any look like a fit for you 26.
