    Im BAD and thats GOOD!

Its Friday evening, my Date Night. Its the one night I enjoy going ou

t to let my hair down, have fun,

and celebrate the weeks highs and lows. Its my escape from the worl

d for just one night a week. But

then on Saturday, Im back on track! Its Mr. Discipline with work, food a

nd exercise but on Fridays Im

bad! So last Friday evening rolls around and I am excited to be BAD! Unf

    ortunately for me, our babysitter

cancelled at the last minute and no replacement could be found at s

uch short notice. Now usually I

would have been upset about this development, but I thought to myself

, dont fight this; just see where

it takes you. Do something different for a change!

Earlier in the week I had promised my daughter that I would take her to

movies. So later on that Friday

evening I picked up my wife, my daughter, my daughters friend and ru

shed off to the Irvine Spectrum

to see Wreck-It Ralph. It wasnt my first choice, but hey, at least it has

    a good title!

We all realize the world has become a more demanding and challengi

ng place, and for me, being BAD

on Fridays, my Faith and my discipline help me combat this. But as I di

    scovered that evening, the great

thing about a good movie is the escapism. A good movie can take yo

u to an imaginary world where

anything seems possible. By taking you away from your world of issue

s for an hour or two; things start

to seem a little brighter and a little less serious. The deadlines seem

    more achievable, your workload

seems even more manageable and the grisly news headlines seem a

    little further away. Thats the

beauty of Art and Entertainment. They help heal us, they help us see th

ings in a better light and I am

thankful for them. Not a bad substitute for being BAD after all! Kids m

ovies are possibly the best type

of escapism. They have a way of condensing life down to the simplest

factors: good guy, bad guy. The

bad guy gets whats coming to him and the good guy gets the cute gir

    l.

Watching Wreck-It Ralph (a great family movie by the way) surrounded

by families and noisy kids, I got

to escape for an hour or so and go on a great kiddy adventure. Quite une

    xpectedly, I thoroughly enjoyed

the movie, and loved the thought-provoking messages it provided.

Wreck-It Ralph participates in a BAD GUY support group. All participan

ts have their own issues about

always having to be the bad guy in their prospective video games. Th

    eir group support mantra goes

like this, Im Bad and thats Good; I will never be Good and thats not

Bad, because theres no one Id

rather be than me. Those words really stuck in my brain for days after

. Im Bad and thats Good, I will

never be Good and thats not Bad, because theres no one Id rather be

than me. WOW!!! I got that from

    a Kids movie!

So my message this month is Love yourself for who you are; warts and

all. Enjoy being you! Also, most

importantly, try being a little BAD every now and then (In the Good sens

    e of course).

As you read this letter, its the first weekend of our next adventure in t

he year 2013. I believe that blue

sky is ahead. Sure, I know we get bombarded with a consistent avalan

    che of negative information that

makes us worry and sometimes makes us feel insecure in our lives and

businesses. It makes us go into

scarcity mode. Im sure you all feel the effects of it just like me. But re

mind yourself that, There is no

one Id rather be than me! And also remember that Happy is the ma

n that loves what he has! And

that my friend, is gratitude! Be thankful for what you have, and dont

    concentrate on what you want

or dont have. Whenever my life is going through a tough struggle, an

d lets face it, we all have those

times, remember that Bad makes us tough; Bad builds character; Ba

d forces us to make necessary

adjustments. But most importantly, Bad makes us really appreciate the

    GOOD.

We all have a role to play in life, even when we dont want to. People an

d loved ones rely on you to play

your part. I myself am a Leader, a Father, a Husband, a Mentor, a Friend

    , a Lover, a Motivator, a Student

and a Traveler. We all wear many hats and are many things to many peo

ple. So for 2013, make a promise

to yourself to be the best you can be, because there is no one you shou

ld want to be but you!

I wish everyone the very best 2013. Im very optimistic that 2013 is go

ing to be a great year! Dont be

scared to be yourself. Youre unique and thats an awesome thing! Go c

reate magic, and to use a catch

phrase my daughter always uses, Lets make 2013 the best year in th

    e history of the world!

Dont try to be something you are not! Write back to me on Facebook a

nd let me know what your goals

are for 2013, and how its going to change your world!
