January 2014 Brothers All, I hope everyone had a safe and joyful Christmas. On December first we started this month off with having a new class of 7 members. Later that day we held our Elk Memorial Day. I would like to thank PDD Randy Smith & PDD Danny Maloney for organizing the service. I would also like to thank the officers for performing the service and all that attended the service. My condolences go out to all the families that lost someone this year. On December 4th Mike Veth held his monthly Special Children’s spaghetti dinner. This month was PER Nick Giuriceo’s famous lasagna. I would also like to thank one of our new members Sean Lapage and his wife for jumping in and making the meatballs. Everything was enjoyed by all. On December 7th the Ladies Auxiliary held there annual Christmas Party. Ginger Rooney and her committee did a great job putting the party together. The food, music and entertainment were excellent. Carol Maloney and Jane Figaro did a great job organizing the skits. I would like to thank the ladies for inviting myself and the officers to the party. On December 14th the Motorcycle Committee held there Christmas party. They had a great turnout. Barry and John did a great job putting the party together. On December 17th, Roy MacPhearson and his Veterans Committee went over to Laurel Bay Veterans Home and played bingo with the Veterans and also gave out Christmas gifts. Great job Roy they always look forward to us coming there. In January the Veterans Committee will be going to Confer Village to play Bingo. If you would like to go and help Roy and his committee out, see Roy for all the details. On December 21st, Middletown Helps Its Own held its annual basket (boxes) delivery. I would like to thank all the members that took the time out to help deliver the baskets. There is always a good turnout out to assist in the delivery. On December 22nd Brian Connors and his Youth Activities Committee held its Christmas party. There was about 40 kids in attendance. There was a special appearance by Santa Claus who had gifts for all the kids. Later that day Mike Veth and his committee held the Special Children’s Christmas party. There were about 70 kids in attendance. Santa was there to pass out gifts for all. Then we had a special appearance by the Rough Necks MCC. They brought toys for all the kids. I would like to thank Chris and all his members for coming to support the Special Children. They have been supporting the Special Children Committee for the last 5 years. I would like to thank Mike and the Ladies of the Special Children for all their help in making the party a success. My Elk Of The Month for January 2014 is Roy MacPhearson.

Roy does a great job with his committee and is an asset to the lodge as a committee

chairman. Thanks for all your hard work.

Committee and the Special Children’s Committee. I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year. In the month of January Middletown Lodge will be hosting the Exalted Rulers Clinic. That will be on January 17th at 8:00 PM. On January 11th the district Hoop Shoot will be held at the Carl Sandberg Middle School on 516 in Old Bridge, sign-ups start at 8:00 AM. If you would like to go, see Mike Veth for the details. On January 21st there is a District Meeting in Keyport/Matawan Lodge at 7:30 PM. The following committees need to attend, Americanism, Auditing, Special Children, Hoop Shoot, Membership, Parades and Youth Activities. On January 26th the Convention Committee will be holding its first Wild Wood convention sign up. Sign-ups are from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There will be two more sign-ups, the dates will be announced at a later time. On January 31st the PER’s will be kicking off super bowl weekend with their Cheeseburgers In Paradise. I would like to thank Sean Lapage and his wife for donating the spaghetti sauce and meatballs for the December spaghetti dinner, as well as all those who helped December spaghetti dinner, as well as all those who helped with the serving. I would like to give a special thank you to P.E.R. Nick Giuriceo for donating and cooking the specialty dinner of Lasagna. It was delicious and it went fast. I would also like to thank Don Desfosse and John Urbine for helping in the kitchen as well as Kathy Corridon and Janet Desfosse for waitressing as well as Jane Figaro for all her help. There will be no spaghetti in January but we will return on Wednesday, February 5th. The specialty dinner will be Chicken Cacciatore and Wedding Soup.I would like to thank all those who helped with the SCC Christmas party. It was a great success with over 115 attending, A special thanks to Diane Foster and Edna Bryk for bringing the cupcakes as well as Jane Figaro and Ginger Smith for setting everything up. I would like to give a big thanks to Joe McGrath for providing the music for very one of our parties. Thanks Joe. Thank you Santa John Plumacher and our photographer Al Smith. Ladies, Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. The Ladies Christmas Party chaired by Ginger Rooney and Cathy Merker was a huge success. Thanks also to Carol Maloney and her committee for a great show.Carmello will be back with the cooking class on January 15th. Come out and Join the fun. The ladies will be holding a Steal Bingo on January 26th. For tickets see Edna Bryk or Mary Bryk.Chili Contest will be on Febraury 1st. See Chairlady Sharon Corridon for more info.February Friday Night Dinner will be made by Sharon McPherson and Marlene Maroldi featuring pot roast and all the fixins. Come out for a great meal. Ladies cook the third Friday of the month. January's menu not available at this time however we will have a meal not sure when it will be at this time. See Posters at Lodge.The Memorial Service was very moving. The Auxiliary lost 5 members this year and they were remembered at the service, Barbara Giuriceo, Geri Eltringham, Edith Bowker, Lois Sheppard and Joan McTigue. Deepest Sympathy to their families and Auxiliary Ladies that have pass, Helen Gill, Elaine McCormick, Mary Weber.
