THINGS TO DO IN PISA The historical centre of Pisa is still almost entirely surrounded by the 12 th century city walls and it is divided into two parts by the river Arno, which crosses it from east to west. These areas are known to locals as Tramontana, to the north, and Mezzogiorno, to the south.
