OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION

THEY RISKED THEIR LIVES – POLES WHO SAVED JEWS DURING THE HOLOCAUST

W dniu 28.09.2015 r. Ambasada RP zorganizowała w Narodowym

Muzeum Historycznym w Tiranie wernisaż przygotowanej przez

Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich POLIN oraz MSZ RP wystawy

„Z narażeniem życia – Polacy ratujący Żydów podczas Zagłady”.

W wystąpieniu inauguracyjnym Ambasador RP Marek Jeziorski nawiązał do wielowiekowej

historii współżycia Polaków i Żydów, przypomniał niezwykłe losy polskich Sprawiedliwych oraz

zaangażowanie Armii Krajowej i polskiego ruchu oporu w ratowanie Żydów i informowanie

świata o zagładzie. Zachęcił do odwiedzenia Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich w Warszawie.

W imieniu rządu Albanii i Ministerstwa Kultury wystąpił wiceminister Kultury Zef Cuni.

Pięknie o Polsce i polskich Sprawiedliwych mówili miłośnik historii Polski profesor Gjergj

Sinani oraz wybitny niezależny dziennikarz i publicysta Ben Andoni, który w 2015 r. odwiedził

Polskę i Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich w ramach zorganizowanej przez MSZ i Ambasadę

RP w Tiranie wizyty studyjnej.

Wśród licznych gości obecni byli przedstawiciele najwyższych władz oraz instytucji

państwowych, w tym Prezes NIK Albanii Bujar Leskaj, wiceminister w Ministerstwie

Dobrobytu Społecznego i Młodzieży Gentiana Sula, przewodnicząca oraz wiceprzewodniczący

komisji spraw zagranicznych Zgromadzenia Albanii Arta Dade i Aldo Bumci, deputowani

do parlamentu, wysocy urzędnicy MSZ, innych resortów oraz instytucji publicznych, liderzy

wspólnot religijnych, przedstawiciele NGOs, środowisk opiniotwórczych, kultury, mediów

oraz liczni ambasadorzy i szefowie misji dyplomatycznych, w tym Izraela i Niemiec. Szerokie

grono stanowili członkowie Towarzystwa Przyjaźni Albańsko-Polskiej, absolwenci polskich

uczelni, młodzież z Liceum im. M. Kopernika w Elbasanie oraz Polacy przebywający w Albanii.

Wystawa jest prezentowana w okresie do 4 października włącznie.

On the 28th of September 2015 the Embassy of Poland organized in the National History Museum in Tirana the opening of the exhibition „They Risked Their Lives – Poles Who Saved Jews During The Holocaust” prepared by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

In the opening speech Ambassador of Poland Marek Jeziorski referred to the centuries-

old history of living together of Poles and Jews, talked about an extraordinary fate of Polish

Righteous Among the Nations and engagement of the Home Army and Polish resistance in

saving Jews and informing the world on the Holocaust. He encouraged to visit the Museum of

the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw.

Deputy Minister of Culture Zef Cuni spoke on behalf of the government of Albania and the

Ministry of Culture. Beautiful words on Poland and Polish Righteous were said by admirer of

the history of Poland professor Gjergj Sinani and outstanding independent Albanian journalist

and reporter Ben Andoni who in 2015 visited Poland and the Museum of the History of Polish

Jews within the framework of the study visit organized by the Polish MFA and the Embassy of

Poland in Tirana.

Among many guests there were representatives of the highest Albanian authorities and state

institutions, including President of the Albanian High State Audit Bujar Leskaj, deputy minister

of Welfare and Youth Gentiana Sula, chairwoman and deputy chairman of the foreign affairs

commission of the Assembly of Albania Arta Dade and Aldo Bumci, members of parliament,

high level officials of the Foreign Ministry and other ministries and public institutions, leaders

of religious communities, representatives of NGOs, opinion-making circles, culture, media, as

well as a number of ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions, including those of Israel

and Germany. A large group of members of the Albanian-Polish Friendship Society, graduates

of Polish universities, young people from the Mikołaj Kopernik secondary school in Elbasan

and Poles living in Albania were present.

The exhibition is open till the 4th of October 2015.

Wystawa „Z narażeniem życia – Polacy ratujący Żydów podczas Zagłady” została przygotowana przez Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich POLIN w partnerstwie z Ministerstwem Spraw Zagranicznych RP. Ekspozycja po-wstała na podstawie zasobów muzealnego projektu „Polscy Sprawiedliwi – Przywracanie Pamięci” (www.sprawiedliwi.org.pl)

The exhibition „They risked their lives - Poles who saved Jews during the Holocaust” was prepared by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Repu-blic of Poland.
