The The
LOTTIE MOON MISSIONS
OFFERING FOR
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS
F or years, Southern
B a p t i s t s h a v e
supported missions
through the Lottie Moon
C h r i s t m a s O f f e r i n g .
Hopefully, you read a little
bit of her story last week.
She was a little, feisty,
energetic woman who
developed a heart for the
Chinese people that would
not turn her loose for over
40 years. Her passion for
missions, for the Chinese,
and her energy in reaching
the lost made her the poster
child, if you will, for
S o u t h e r n B a p t i s t
International Missions. I
hope you will take some
time to search her story out
and discover this fascinating
lady.
You will find quotes
throughout this week’s
Evangel that will give you a
glimpse into her heart for
missions. There is also a
f e a t u r e p a g e a t
woodlawnbaptistnc.org that
will tell her story and link
you to some other
resources.
Lottie not only had a
passion for missions, but
she passed that on to future
generations.
The International Mission
Board recently announced
that it is forced to
s i g n i f i c a n t l y r e d u c e
personnel expenses due to
budget shortfalls, which
means many missionaries
around the world will be
r e t u r n i n g f r o m t h e
international field.
The drawdown is due in
part to unmet LMCO (Lottie
Moon Christmas Offering)
goals. It can be different
this year. Southern Baptists
must show our commitment
to obeying the Great
Commission of our Lord
now more than ever before.
As you pray about the
amount of your gift,
consider an amount based
on the average cost of
supporting a missionary.
Perhaps you can support a
missionary for a year, a
month, a week, or a day:
$51,400 a year
(average)
$4,283 a month
$988 a week
$141 a day
On a more personal level,
Cliff and Brenda Tolosa
spent almost a year with us
as we hosted them in the
Mission House. You know
their heart for Columbia,
and their intense desire to
return to their field. You
know the love they had for
the Columbian people.
Cliff and Brenda were a part
of that downsizing of the
International Mission
Board. They chose to take
retirement and return to the
states just a few months
after they began to rebuild
their ministry, because of
the financial need. Does
your gift to Lottie Moon
make a difference? Without
a doubt. Be praying about
your gift!

“I would I had a thousand lives that I
might give them to … China!”
August 27,1888, Zhenjiang
In an effort to inform our members concerning their year-end
gifts, the following information is being shared by our finance
office:
The IRS allows individuals to deduct from their income
charitable donations in the year the donations were mailed or
delivered.
When a donation is mailed, the postmark date will be used to
decide in which year to record. The check date alone cannot
be used to determine the date of the gift.
Please make sure that a gift intended for the current year is
postmarked by Saturday, December 26, or personally
delivered to Ronda Fagan by noon on December 31.
Ladies Bible Study
All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you. A cunning,
devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters
to you - your emotions, your mind, your family, your future.
But… when the enemy meets a woman dressed for the occasion,
he fails miserably.
