Dear Foreign Language Professional,
Everything leads to the 36th Thessaloniki International Publishers Exhibition on the 17th of March 2019.
With over 30 exhibitors it proudly proves again to be the largest event in the field of foreign language teaching in Northern Greece. Prominent Greek and international publishing houses, major examination boards and training centres will demonstrate their innovative products and services. Beyond English, that is dominant in the Greek foreign language teaching market, you can also inspect Italian, Russian and Spanish publications and exams at our exhibition.
Our programme will be full of presentations and workshops conducted by internationally recognised teacher trainers who will focus on the latest trends in education. The winner of 2018 ELTons Innovation in Teacher Resources - Mark Hancock - will share tips for pronunciation on Sunday evening. In addition, a hands-on workshop will follow for all of those who wish to unlock the secrets of teaching pronunciation.
Over the years, the Foreign Language School Owners’ Discussion Group has become a popular meeting place for a large number of school owners. On Sunday morning you will have once again the opportunity to meet with your colleagues and exchange views on a variety of issues that concern your schools.
Finally, the most important element of every IPE is… you. The visitors of the IPEs have always been the core of our events. You can spread the word by inviting your friends and colleagues to meet you at the MET Hotel. Your opinions and requests are welcome and we always try to incorporate them in following exhibitions.
All the above adds up to the 36th Thessaloniki International Publishers Exhibition. The organizers, exhibitors and presenters are eager to meet you at The MET Hotel on the 17th of March 2019.
Looking forward to welcoming you
Philip Dietschi International Publishers Exhibitions

Mark Hancock’s approach in both teaching and writing ELT materials is to engage the learner and inspire their intrinsic interest in the content and in the process of the lesson. This is driven by his belief that teaching and learning a language can and should be an enjoyable experience.
Mark Hancock started teaching English over 30 years ago and wrote his first English language teaching book – Pronunciation Games – over 20 years ago. Mark has taught in Sudan, Turkey, Brazil, Spain and currently lives and works in the UK. Apart from teaching and writing, he also presents at international conferences and leads on short teacher training courses
Sophia Christidi has been working in EFL since 2001. After 18 years of teaching, examining and teacher and examiner training, she is now well known in Northern Greece for her academic seminars to language schools, teachers and students. She has an MA in Applied Linguistics
and TESOL from the University of Portsmouth, UK. She has been heavily involved in English language examination administration, preparation of students and training of oral and written examiners for a number of years. She is fanatically involved in technology and now is a consultant working closely with English language schools to provide 21st century services.
Pronunciation teaching can be a joy – it doesn’t have to be all complicated theory and difficult symbols.
With a playful and experimental approach, it can be a part of the lesson that your students look forward to most. In this workshop, we will take a look at some examples of fun activities for different aspects of pronunciation.
We will also see how teachers can adapt these ideas to work with the language they are covering in class.
