1.0 License I, ____________________________________________ in the interest of facilitating research by others at Brandon University (hereinafter referred to as “BU”) and elsewhere, and in satisfaction of a condition of being awarded a Master’s degree as a graduate student at BU, hereby grant a license (the “License”) on the following terms and conditions, to BU to reproduce my Thesis/Practicum Report, or any substantial part thereof, in any material form whatsoever, which Thesis/Practicum Report is to be submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree.

1.1. This License shall continue for the full term of the copyright or for so long as may be legally permitted.

1.2. The Universal Copyright Notice shall be contained in reproductions and copies made under the authority of this License.

1.3. It shall be permissible for BU to make the Thesis/Practicum Report available for open online access in, including, but not limited to, an Institutional Repository and the Theses Canada portal through the National Library of Canada and Archives Canada.

1.4. I grant BU the non-exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, display, perform, and transmit the work, in whole or in part, and to authorize others to do so, for non-profit educational purposes, in such

physical and electronic media and formats as may now exist or be developed in the future, including but not limited to audio or video.

1.5. This License does not permit the sale of authorized reproductions and copies at a profit, but it does permit BU to charge an amount equal to the actual reproduction costs.

1.6. All reproductions and copies made under the authority of this license shall bear a statement to the effect that the reproduction or copy in question has been made available by authority of the copyright owner solely for the purpose of private study and research and may only be reproduced and copied as permitted by copyright laws or with express written authorization from the copyright owner.

1.7. The effective date of this License will be the date that the Thesis/Practicum Report is submitted to BU. (In exceptional cases where adequate cause can be shown to delay reproduction and copying of the Thesis/Practicum Report , a request may be made to the Dean of Graduate Studies to restrict reproduction and copying of the Thesis/Practicum Report for a period of one year after its submission and the Dean, in consultation with the student’s advisor, shall determine the period of restriction, if any.)

1.8. I save harmless and indemnify BU for any liability, losses, damages and awards resulting from any actions, suits demands or claims, respecting an alleged or proven copyright infringement by the contents of my Thesis/Practicum Report or respecting defamatory statements contained within my Thesis/Practicum Report , and arising from the exercise by BU of its rights hereunder.

2.0 Thesis/Practicum Report Copyright Infringement Declaration

This Thesis/Practicum Report is a public document and therefore it is necessary to ensure compliance with copyright laws and that due acknowledgement is made, where appropriate, before it is published.

2.1 I confirm that my Thesis/Practicum Report (including any electronic attachments) does not contain material for which the copyright belongs to a third party, or, I confirm that for all third-party

copyrighted material in my Thesis/Practicum Report (including any electronic attachments), I have either:

a. obtained written permission to use the material and have submitted copies of each permissionto the Faculty of Graduate Studies. I have not included permission forms/emails in the body ofmy Thesis/Practicum Report.

or

b. “blanked out” third-party copyrighted material from my Thesis/Practicum Report; fullyreferenced the deleted materials and, where possible, provided links (URLs) to electronicsources of the material.

2.2 I certify that I have deposited with BU the final official approved version of my Thesis/Practicum Report. Except in the circumstances set out above, no emendation of content has occurred.
