Wah! Wah! Girls is a passionate and playful story complete with love,

villains, and lots of laughs. Set in Stratford in 2012, these unstoppable

Inspired by the Mujra dancers, who for generations have entertained

the rich and powerful with a spellbinding mix of dance and song, Wah!

Wah! Girls is performed to classic Bollywood tracks and new music.

Written by acclaimed playwright Tanika Gupta (Gladiator Games at

Stratford East) with new music by Niraj Chag (Baiju Bawra at Stratford

East) and directed by multi-award-winning director Emma Rice (The

Red Shoes, Brief Encounter). This extraordinary team of talents also

includes Bollywood choreographer Javed Sanadi, Kathak choreographer

Gauri Sharma Tripathi, set and costume designer Keith Khan, lighting

designer Malcolm Rippeth and sound designer Simon Baker.

Wah! Wah! Girls is a special collaboration between Theatre Royal

Stratford East, Sadler’s Wells and Kneehigh, in association

with Hall for Cornwall, celebrating London’s diversity and

spirit in its Olympic and Paralympic year. The run at Theatre

Royal Stratford East is part of the London 2012 Festival, a

12-week nationwide festival in celebration of the Games.

Wah! Wah! Girls is part of World Stages London, a celebration of

MARTINA COLE’S

DANGEROUS

LADY

020 8534 0310 STRATFORDEAST.COM

Join us in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the publication

of Dangerous Lady, bestselling author Martina Cole’s

explosive first novel, with a gripping new stage adaptation.

For seventeen-year-old Maura, life in London’s underworld is just part

of being a Ryan. Although at first she doesn’t approve of her brother

Michael’s escalating criminal ambitions, Maura soon finds herself

drawn into the family business - and she is ready to make her mark.

Adapted by Patrick Prior and directed by Lisa Goldman,

Dangerous Lady is Theatre Royal Stratford East’s third

Martina Cole stage adaptation. Previous productions

have been Two Women (2010) and The Graft (2011).

No one thinks a young woman can take on the hard men of London’s

gangland, but it’s a mistake to underestimate Maura Ryan...

TOUGH, CLEVER AND BEAUTIFUL

Glasgow Girls tells the true story of one of the most vocal and

powerful asylum campaigns to catch the imagination of the

media and inspire a community to unite behind its residents.

Set in Scotland in 2005, Glasgow Girls tells of what follows

after a family is ripped from their home in the middle

of the night and taken away to be deported.

Driven by a fierce sense of injustice, a group of seven schoolgirls

in a high school in Glasgow fight for the life of their friend

and for the rights of children of asylum seekers in Scotland.

They take on the Scottish Government and the Home Office

and succeed where adults and politicians failed.

Glasgow Girls will feature original songs including electronic grime

from Patricia Panther, reggae-dub from rapper MC Soom T, folk

rock from Cora Bissett and additional songs from John Kielty.
