Founded in 1905, Concordia University is dedicated to preparing leaders for the transformation of society.

Concordia University’s enrollment is growing with nearly 1,800 students on its main campus in Northeast Portland, as well as locations in Bend, Ashland, Medford, Aloha and Gresham, Oregon.

Currently, Concordia offers undergraduate degrees in 24 majors and graduate degrees in Business and Education.

Concordia University’s nationally recognized community engagement initiative is an integral part of our mission.

Concordia was recently recognized by its inclusion in the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its commitment to service-learning and community engagement.

In an average year, the Concordia community contributes more than 223,000 hours of service through practicum, internships, and learning projects. These programs serve an estimated 10,000 people, including 5,000 children.

This fall, Concordia University will open its doors to the new, state-of-the-art George R. White Library & Learning Center. 

The Center is designed to serve both students and the community featuring free library cards, a community designated meeting room, and a coffee shop.

The need for a law school in Boise:

- Forbes magazine consistently ranks Boise as one of the top 10 metropolitan areas in the nation for starting a business or career.

- Boise is one of the largest state capitals without a law school.

Why Concordia?:

- Concordia has a rich history with the State of Idaho.

- Concordia will bring its focus of community engagement to

the law school curriculum.

Leadership:

- In December 2008, Concordia University appointed Cathy Silak, former Idaho Supreme Court Justice, as the founding Dean of the Concordia University School of Law.

- In April, 2009, an Advisory Council was formed to help with the planning phase. The Council consists of 24 members and is comprised of attorneys and other local and regional business, academic and nonprofit leaders.

- Relationships with Government; other Educational Institutions; and Community

- Development and Alumni

Student recruitment pools will include:

- Place bound students in Boise and the Treasure Valley

- Students in the Western United States who wish to pursue a legal education in Boise

- Students who attend one of the 10 institutions in the Concordia

University System

- Students who attend one of the 28 other Lutheran colleges and universities in the United States

Concordia University School of Law will be regionally accredited and expects to be accredited by the American Bar Association after three years of operation.

The Concordia School of Law will provide the best in legal education, and will collaborate with other higher educational institutions to produce highly trained professionals who make important and lasting contributions to the their communities.
