Our attendance at meetings has been down a little lately (June and July), but the attendance at the Sonic in June was 32 members and guest with 18 cars (1 was a Toyota, remember drive what runs). That is not bad! We have had several events this years that members have supported in large numbers, the Rallye Around Ooltewah, and St. Patrick's Day event were both great days. The second of our Cars, Food, and Friends is sched- uled for Friday, July 19 at the Sonic in Ooltewah. We will gather about 7:30PM. Milk Shakes are half price after 8PM. Hope the weather and attendance is as Great as it was in June. August will see the British car scene move into a higher gear after the slow down in July. Things will get started with the Rebecca Davis car show in Fort Oglethorpe, GA on Saturday August 17. Last year we had over 10 cars and won the Club Participation award. I like this show because your check is made out to St. Jude. Cars, Food, and Friends will gather at the Sonic on Au- gust 23. Then the next morning, August 24, we will go to Rugby for the show at that great venue. September will see several members make a weekend trip to Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogersville, AL on 6-8 September. Follow that up with the last of Cars, Food, and Friends on Friday September 19. The AACA National Car show in Cleveland runs for several days that week with the actual show on Satur- day September 20. If you would like to help with that show, contact Connie Wright at 423-336-6855. October will be the GOF at Callaway Gardens in Geor- gia. Perky also schedules a trail run of the route to be taken during our annual show in November. Then the first weekend of November is the "world fa- mous" British Car Show at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. Make your plans now to be there and help. This is a 3 day show that needs the participation of club members. For future planning we voted Saturday March 29, 2014 as the day we will host the "British Fools Bash". No lo- cation was selected. If you have a suggestion let me know. It is always great to see Little British Cars and their owners. Be sure to join the fun. Having SBCC Fun Mike

SBCC AT SONIC DRIVEIN JULY 19

The weather was great at the Sonic in Ooltewah on Friday night July 19. The crowd of British cars was smaller, but the fun was great. British cars, food and friends nothing could be better. Nineteen club members were present driving 3 Minis, 2MGAs, 2MGBs, a Toyota, Chevrolet, and a Nissan. Remember to drive what runs. Jim and Melinda Watson drove from Maryville to visit with club members. Jim and Clay looked like they were having great fun discussing Clay's Mini. Robert and Diane Smith said they were getting a new convertible top put on their Midget, so they drove the Nissan. Wayne and Kim are awaiting a new clutch for their Mini so they drove the Chevro-let. Over half of the attendees were new for this event. Henry, Rita, and Minnie brought their new puppy, Sherlock Holmes to the Sonic. He seemed to enjoy the fun, although did not seem to be impressed with the British cars. I hope to see everyone at the next gathering at the Sonic in Ooltewah on Friday night August 16. The next morning will be the Rebecca Davis car show in Fort Oglethorpe. Last year that was a lot of fun with the proceeds going to St. Jude Hospital. Fun in the Sun with SBCC Mike

SBCC INAUGURAL SONIC DRIVE –IN

MEET JUNE 20 3013

The first gathering of SBCC members on Friday night was a huge success! There were 30 individuals and 17 cars at the Ooltewah Sonic Drive In. The final total was 15 British, 1 Alpha Romeo, and a Toyota (drive what runs). The beautiful weather had a big part in make the Friday night a success. The evening started with Bryson and Linda being the first to arrive, followed by Paul and Tricia, then Mike and Teresa. Before you could hardly turn around the grassy area next to the picnic tables was filled with British cars. There were 6 MGBs, 3 MGBGTs, 1 MGTD, 1 MGTF, 1 Jaguar MK II, 1 Austin Healey 3000, and 1 Austin Mini. I believe it was Al Graham's first event with SBCC. Several people, including a youth baseball team, were seen walking through the area looking at the cars. Of course that is one reason to get your car out, let others enjoy the beauty of the Little British Cars. Another reason is to see friends, talk cars, and have fun. The next opportunity will be Friday night July 19, 2013. See you there! SBCC Fun in the evening Mike

FOR SALE – PROJECT CAR1969 MG MIDGET (GAN 4U74747G)

Body is about 60% finished. New replacement parts are available

for trunk floor, front valance panel and rear apron panel. All welding was done by individual who worked as a welder for 10 years. Rusted areas replaced by new panels and/or cleaned metal. Some of the original parts are available, such as rear axle assem-bly, front suspension, steering assembly, front and rear bumpers and 4 original wire wheels, which have been sandblasted and primed. On the wheels are Firestone tires (p155/80R13) and tubes. These tires have never been used.

During the course of this restoration, I have spent over $2,000 for new body parts. Engine and transmission not available at this time, but 1275 en-gine with 5 speed transmission should be available after the first of next year (2013). This engine was rebuilt and 5 speed trans-mission attached by Will Perry (Rivergate). This engine and tyranny are currently in my driver MG. My wife and I are the second owners of this project car which we

purchased in 1972. Also, have used Spridget parts from Midget and Sprite parts cars. Please contact me for further information: Robert A. Smith, 2201 Crescent Club Drive, Hixson, TN 37343 Tel. 423-877-1819,
