WHAT IS JURISPRUDENCE?• The study of law extends beyond the mere examination of rules and their application to
society.
• The consideration of values, concepts, social, political and economic factors underlying the law itself demands a deeper form of legal study
• Jurisprudence is described as the science or philosophy of law that deals with both applying legal doctrine and investigating the concepts, notions, and principles of legal thought.
• Jurisprudence may be thought as a legal matrix that comprises many interlocking concepts, theories, principles and institutions.

• There are two overarching traditional schools of thought- Natural Law and Positive Law
