OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Olivia, a Year 10 student, has recently received a Jack Petchey Award for Outstanding Achievement in Synchronised Swimming.
Olivia was nominated by Head Coach of Chelmsford City Swimming Club who said:
“Olivia has a continued positive attitude in training and a real sense of determination with her upcoming grading. Olivia is a very helpful swimmer in her section and her maturity when helping others is a key asset and her smile is infectious! All the coaches appreciate Olivia’s work ethic and see how it helps promote the same work ethic in others.”
This is a wonderful achievement and the school would like to wish Olivia the very best of luck in her grading.

LEST WE FORGET
On Monday, 11th November at 11.00am, the school held a one minute silence to
honour all those who have served in the armed forces and who are no longer with
us.
Mr Harrison and Elliot played ‘The Last Post’ on the cornet,
a very moving tribute. Around the school are silhouettes of
soldiers as well as a list of the fallen.
VISIT TO THE EDGE HOTEL
Last week some Year 10 students, interested in the world of hospitality, visited The Edge Hotel School which
works with Wivenhoe House Hotel, which is a working hotel. We enjoyed learning about hospitality and seeing
the different careers we could pursue in hospitality.
We played a game where we could manage our own hotel and make some crucial decisions and these
decisions affected our scores in the game. After the game we were given a tour throughout the hotel and saw
the bedrooms. We also visited the kitchen and asked the Head Chef some questions.
My favourite activity was the hotel game, as it furthered my understanding of hospitality careers and allowed
me to see the crucial decisions that managers have to face on a day-to-day basis.
