2

Agenda

– Walk through of status of the different Signalling Programme

projects

Page 3: The Signalling Programme

3

Danish signalling needs to be renewed now

3

• 3.000+ trains/day

• 60% of all signalling will exceed absolute

final service-life within 15 years

• DK-ATC life expires in 2020

• It takes 10-12 years to renew all signalling

assets

• More systems have risk of serious

breakdowns even today

• 50% of today's train delays are due to

signalling failures

• In 2006 a total of 39.000 trains were

delayed

Page 4: The Signalling Programme

4

A total renewal of the signalling system minimises total cost and provides better performance

A total renewal is the best solution:

• Cheapest and fastest implementation • Provides higher punctuality and capacity • Most benefits for the passengers • Benefits are achieved faster

2006: Strategic political decision of a total renewal strategy 2007-08: Detailed plans & budget for a total renewal programme Jan 2009: Final political decision for a fully financed total renewal

programme was decided by the Danish Parliament Feb 2009-12: Signalling Programme procurement phase 2012 - Contract signed

ERTMS Onboard Project Status (General)

- Final generic solution to be delivered to BDK this summer 2015

(EVC software 6.3.0)

- Generic solution includes TSI Baseline 3 functionalities (SRS 3.3.0

+ some MR1 CRs) + BDK functionalities (e.g. Online Key

Management System, ETCS over GPRS)

- This will be the version to start the training and Supervised

Commercial Operation on Early Deployment lines

- Decision to upgrade to TSI 3.5.0 not taken yet (depends on the

maturity of the Specifications)

Page 17: The Signalling Programme

17 17

ERTMS Onboard Project Status (Design & Test)

ERTMS functions already tested in the lab (TSI 3.3.0), NoBo

certificate available

Integration with Danish STM baseline 3 done (only minor non-

regression tests to be conducted with final EVC software this

summer)

Integration with Swedish STM in progress. Need to do formal

integration tests with final version of EVC.

Joint Test Lab activities (test with trackside projects) in progress

Page 18: The Signalling Programme

18 18

ERTMS Onboard Project Status (Installation)

- Fitment of two Danish Test Trains in progress (one is completed)

- Next steps: dynamic tests

- APIS for starting tests in mixed traffic September 2015

- Installation design for all passenger trains almost completed

(except for trains not surveyed: Øresund trains and double

deckers)

- No installation design for freight trains except for MY and MX locos

as these were surveyed for other passenger train operators

GSM-R On-board Infrastructure and voice

– GSM-R infrastructure finished. Upgrade to GPRS under negotiation

– S-Bane trains are fully fitted with GSM- R voice radios

– Fitment of other trains is progressing according to plan

– Arriva fitment is closed and all MR litras from DSB (except 2 Alstom test

trains) have been fitted with GSM-R (51 trains)

– Next big milestone is the serial fitment of the DSB IC3 trains

TRIS

– The new Traffic Information System has almost finished

development

– Implementation concept is to use TRIS with data from existing

signaling and later data from the new Signaling System

– Shortly after this summer we start testing the on first stations

– We expect to test at the line in April 2016 , and have

implemented the whole system out by the end of 2016.

– In the period 2016-2021 the system will handle both the non-

migrated lines and migrated lines.

ERTMS baselines

• The ERTMS specifications are being managed by the European Railway

Agency.

• Currently there are 2 specification baselines:

• Baseline 2 (SRS 2.3.0d) has been used on high speed lines in ES, IT

and BE/NL and a few conventional lines in CH, NL, LX.

• Baseline 3 (currently SRS 3.4.0, next release planned end of 2015)

being used as basis for the national deployments in UK, DK, NL, SE,

NO, DE, CH, BE and likely also the remaining countries.

• Trains with Baseline 3 are backwards compatible with B2 infrastructure,

but B2 trains cannot run on B3 infrastructure. (Essentially B2 trains can

only run on the B2 lines they were built for)

31

Management of the European specifications

Page 32: The Signalling Programme

32

ERTMS baseline 3

Baseline 3 challenges

• Bigger nodes/stations

• Radio capacity/ETCS over GPRS/EDGE,

• Cold movement Detection-SoM,

• Braking Curves

• Online key management

• Backwards compatibility to 2.3.0d trackside (first Swedish lines)

• Finishing test specifications baseline 3 (certification of Onboard)

• SP will be maturing part of the ERTMS specifications

BDK will be maturing baseline 3

Page 33: The Signalling Programme

33

The Signalling Programme ERTMS baseline

– Contracted on SRS 3.3.0

– Design being made according to 3.4.0 + ETCS over GPRS and

O-KMS

– Final target is the 2015 release (R2/3.5.0) as it is

introducing ETCS over GPRS and O-KMS

– Backwards compatibility will be demonstrated both with lab

interconnection (already being done) and on the actual

Swedish B2 lines
