The Sheldon K. Friedlander AwardAmerican Association for Aerosol Research

The Sheldon K. Friedlander Award “recognizes an outstanding dissertation by an individual who has earned a doctoral degree. The dissertation can be in any

discipline in the physical, biomedical, or engineering sciences but has to be in a field

of aerosol science and technology”.

This award honors professor Sheldon Friedlander for his leadership as a researcher, teacher, and pioneer in aerosol science.

James Olfert, Ph.D.Cambridge University

Dr. Olfert performed outstanding dissertation research spanning from computer modeling of “transfer functions” of particles to the design and fabrication of an improved Aerosol Particle Mass Analyzer and evaluation of its performance with a comparison to predicted performance based on theory.
