    God is the Lord, and He revealed Himselfto us. Blessed is he who comes in the name ofthe Lord. [SAAS]

    Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξοµολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνοµα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

    Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and callupon His holy name.

    ἤ· Ἐξοµολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ, ὅτι ἀγαθός,ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.

    or: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; forHis mercy endures forever.

    Let the heavens sing for joy, and leteverything on earth be glad. For withHis Arm the Lord has worked power. Hetrampled death under foot by means of death;and He became the firstborn from the dead.From the maw of Hades He delivered us; andHe granted the world His great mercy. [SD]

    O Bethlehem, prepare, Eden is openedunto all. * And be ready, Ephrata, for the Treeof life * has in the grotto blossomed forth fromthe Virgin. * Indeed her womb is shown to bespiritually * a Paradise, in which is found theGod-planted Tree. * And if we eat from it weshall live, and shall not die, as did Adam ofold. * Christ is born, so that He might raise up* the formerly fallen image.     Commemorating our most holy, pure,blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokosand ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, letus commend ourselves and one another andour whole life to Christ our God.

    Χριστὸς ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγήγερται, ἡ ἀπαρχὴτῶν κεκοιµηµένων. Ὁ Πρωτότοκος τῆςκτίσεως, καὶ Δηµιουργὸς πάντων τῶνγεγονότων, τὴν καταφθαρεῖσαν φύσιντοῦ γένους ἡµῶν, ἐν ἑαυτῷ ἀνεκαίνισεν.Οὐκ ἔτι θάνατε κυριεύεις· ὁ γὰρ τῶν ὅλωνΔεσπότης, τὸ κράτος σου κατέλυσε.

    Christ has risen from the dead, the firstof those who have fallen asleep. The Artificerof all things that were made was first bornbefore all creation; now He has renewedthe corrupted nature of our human racein himself. O Death, you no longer havedominion, for the Master of all has destroyedyour power. [SD]

    When You had physically tasted death,O Lord, You curtailed its bitterness by Yourresurrection, and You strengthened humanityagainst it, by reversing the failure related tothe primal curse, O Defender of our life. Gloryto You, O Lord. [SD]

    We the believers now theologize about* the inexplicable, incomprehensible *unspoken mystery of Your crucifixion andresurrection. * For today the realm of deathand of Hades has been despoiled, * and vestedis the human race with incorruptibility. * Andtherefore in thanksgiving we cry aloud: *Glory to Your resurrection, O Christ.     The army of the Angels appearingsilenced * the song of shepherds pipes. Andthe Angel uttered, * Stop in the field abiding,* O you the governors of animals. * Cry out inexaltation, * for Christ the Lord has been borntoday. * It is His will to save the human race, *as God, in His good pleasure.     When the hosts of the Angels saw howYou were accounted among the dead, theyall marveled. You, O Savior, are the One whodestroyed the might of death; and when Youarose You raised Adam with yourself andfrom Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

    cried to the myrrh-bearing women. "See foryourselves the empty tomb and understand,that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher."[SD]

    Εὐλογητὸς εἶ, Κύριε, δίδαξόν µε τὰδικαιώµατά σου.

    Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Yourstatutes.

    Λίαν πρωΐ, Μυροφόροι ἔδραµον,πρὸς τὸ µνῆµά σου θρηνολογοῦσαι· ἀλλ'ἐπέστη, πρὸς αὐτὰς ὁ Ἄγγελος, καὶ εἶπε·θρήνου ὁ καιρὸς πέπαυται, µὴ κλαίετε, τὴνἈνάστασιν δέ, Ἀποστόλοις εἴπατε.

    Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomblamenting. But the Angel appeared to themand uttered, "The time for lamentation hasended; weep no more. Go announce theResurrection to the Apostles." [SD]

    When the myrrh-bearing women hadcome with their spices to Your sepulcher,O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angelclearly speaking to them, "Why do youaccount among the dead the One who lives?For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher."[SD]

    We bow down in worship to the Fatherand His Son and the Holy Spirit, the HolyTrinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud withthe Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, OLord. [SD]

    τοῖς ῥήµασιν, ὁ ἀστράπτων Ἄγγελος,ταῖς µυροφόροις ἔλεγε· Τὸν ζῶντα τίζητεῖτε ἐν µνήµατι; ἡγέρθη κενώσας τὰµνήµατα τῆς φθορᾶς ἀλλοιωτήν, γνῶτε τὸνἀναλλοίωτον, εἴπατε τῷ Θεῷ· Ὡς φοβερὰτὰ ἔργα σου! ὅτι τὸ γένος ἔσωσας τῶνἀνθρώπων.

    Astounding in appearance, refreshing bythe words he spoke, the flashing Angel saidto the myrrh-bearing women: Why do youlook in a tomb for the Living One? He is risenand has emptied the tombs. Know Him, theunchanging Changer of corruption. Say toGod: How awesome are Your works! For Youhave saved the human race. [SD]

    A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, abroken and humbled heart God will notdespise.

    Ἔστησεν αὐτὰ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνατοῦ αἰῶνος· πρόσταγµα ἔθετο, καὶ οὐ παρελεύσεται.

    He established them forever and unto ages ofages; He set forth His ordinance, and it shall not passaway.

    Αἰνεῖτε τὸν Κύριον ἐκ τῆς γῆς, δράκοντες καὶπᾶσαι ἄβυσσοι.

    Πῦρ, χάλαζα, χιών, κρύσταλλος, πνεῦµακαταιγίδος, τὰ ποιοῦντα τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ.

    Fire and hail, snow and ice, stormy wind, whichperform His word.

    Τὰ ὄρη καὶ πάντες οἱ βουνοί, ξύλα καρποφόρακαὶ πᾶσαι κέδροι.

    Mountains and all the hills, fruitful trees and allcedars.

    Τὰ θηρία καὶ πάντα τὰ κτήνη, ἑρπετὰ καὶπετεινὰ πτερωτά.

    Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things andflying birds.

    Βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς καὶ πάντες λαοί, ἄρχοντες καὶπάντες κριταὶ γῆς.

    Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and alljudges of the earth.

    Νεανίσκοι καὶ παρθένοι, πρεσβύτεροι µετὰνεωτέρων· αἰνεσάτωσαν τὸ ὄνοµα Κυρίου, ὅτι ὑψώθητὸ ὄνοµα αὐτοῦ µόνου.

    Young men and maidens, elders with younger,let them praise the Lord's name, for His name alone isexalted.

    Ἡ ἐξοµολόγησις αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ γῆς καὶ οὐρανοῦ. καὶὑψώσει κέρας λαοῦ αὐτοῦ.

    His thanksgiving is in earth and heaven. And Heshall exalt the horn of His people.

    Ὕµνος πᾶσι τοῖς ὁσίοις αὐτοῦ, τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ,λαῷ ἐγγίζοντι αὐτῷ.

    A hymn for all His saints, for the children of Israel,a people who draw near to Him.

    Ἄσατε τῷ Κυρίῳ ᾆσµα καινόν, ἡ αἴνεσις αὐτοῦἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ ὁσίων.
