The Gelato World Tour Japan 2019, organized by its Executive Committee, will be held on August 31st
and September 1st 2019 at the Hall of Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal (in Kanagawa -
Yokohama). The program of the event will include an Italian Food Court, where you can enjoy Italian food,
gastronomic gelato, espresso and wine seminars, string quartet concerts and an ice sculpture performance
for a two day long event that all family will enjoy. Not to forget, all this while tasting the 12 gelato flavors
created by Japan’s top Gelato Artisans, the winners of the qualifying stage of the competition.

The program for Gelato World Tour Japan 2019 in Yokohama has been
announced!
In addition to 12 gelato flavors created by Japan's top class Gelato
Artisans, seminars, an Italian Food Court, string quartet sessions and
ice sculptures!
Event Program
■ Espresso seminar
(held by the International Coffee Tasting Association (IIAC) / Lecturer: Chihiro Yokoyama)
Chihiro Yokoyama, a pioneering barista in Japan, will held a seminar about “How to enjoy Italian espresso”.
What is “Italian espresso”? This lecture will teach how to enjoy Italian espresso, how to properly taste it, and
will introduce some drinks prepared using espresso.
■Gelato cocktail seminar
(Maison Givree & Hakusuke Food Produce / Lecturer: Hiroyuki Emori, Yusuke Takamiya)
This seminar, held by a famous pastry chef and a professional bartender, will show how to enjoy and taste
gelato and cocktails at the same time.
■Gastronomy gelato seminar
(Carpigiani Gelato University / Lecturer: Ryosuke Mogaki) Gastronomy gelato is a trend that uses gelato not
only for sweets but also in restaurant menus. During this seminar the chef will show some techniques to
explore the possibilities of food expression with gelato.

■ String Quartet Concert
(Performance: Ludwig Camerata member)
A quartet from the orchestra "Ludwig Camerata” will entertain the public with a string session enjoyable by
adults and children. Music will range from Italian film soundtracks to popular songs related to Italy.
■ Wine seminar
(Yokohama Winery / Representative Yoshiko Machida)
Yokohama's first craft wine “Hama Wine” brewery “Yokohama Winery”! Don't miss the wine seminars held by
their female owners. To be enjoyed with everyone!
■Evaluation by Technical Jury
Twelve Gelato Artisans’ creations will be presented to the judges for evaluation. The Gelato chefs will
present the artistic craftsmanship, the concept and the preparation behind their creation.
■Ice sculpture demonstration by Kengo Akabane
(member of Japanese Team - 9th Gelato World Cup)
Mr. Kengo Akabane, Ice sculptor from the Japanese Team participating to the Gelato World Cup 2020 in
Italy, will create two lively mermaids from melting ice.
■My First Gelato Shop(by Italian Showcase leading company IFI)
This workshop is for those who want to start a gelato business and learn how to make a successful shop.
Discover the opportunity to open an artisan gelato business in Japan.
■Scoop Challenge by IFI
Gelato craftsmen compete for the Golden Spatula. Chefs will challenge themselves on how accurately they
can put a certain weight on the cup! Come and see the passioned craftsmen competing for the Golden
Spatula.
■Award Ceremony
Which gelato will win the right to participate in the Gelato Festival World Masters 2021? Possibly the one you
voted for? Come and find out with us who will be the best flavor of Japan!

<Scoop Challenge by IFI><Seminar>
Gelato World Tour is the first international traveling competition with the mission to spread the culture of
artisan gelato throughout the world. It holds competitions that determine the best gelato flavor in each host
country. In its search for the best flavors in the world, Gelato World Tour has hosted over 100 competitions in
over 20 countries. The public that attends the event votes for their favorite flavor, which helps determine
which gelato is the best. At the venue, you can enjoy more than one flavor with one tasting ticket and once
you decide the flavor you like, you can vote directly at the venue. The vote of visitors together with the results
of specialized judging committee are calculated and the best gelato flavor is determined.
