1847In a humble tool shed in Newcastle,

Ontario, Daniel Massey begins manu-

facturing simple farm implements – the

same year Thomas Edison, Joseph

Pulitzer and Jesse James were born.

1891Canada’s top two farm equipment

companies merge to form Massey-

Harris Limited.

Massey-Harris engineer Tom Carroll perfected

the first self-propelled combine with its own

engine and powertrain. The M-H 20 set the

standard for future self-propelled combine

designs throughout the industry.

During World War II, Massey-Harris was granted a special allocation of raw material to build a fleet of combines to assist with the North American grain harvest. The Massey-Harris “Harvest Brigade” was formed and the program became the forerunner of today’s custom harvesters.

Reliability. Productivity. Pride.

With more than 70 years experience designing and producing self-propelled combines for the world market, Massey Ferguson® has developed a proud heritage in the farm equipment industry. One thing we recognize and value greatly is the hard work and practical knowledge of farmers’ every-where. Listening to farmers needs and designing our combines to productively satisfy those needs is our top priority.

As you take pride in your farming operation and the products you grow, we at Massey Ferguson take pride in the products we design and build for you. We believe that is a unique partnership, and one that we strive to strengthen with every new combine we produce.

“Beauty in engineering is that which is

simple, has no superfluous parts and

which answers exactly its purpose.”

–Harry Ferguson

1950sThe 1950s saw the popularity of Massey-Harris combines continue to grow. Models M-H 60, 70, 80 and 90 were introduced with new features and increased capacity. Models M-H 72, 82 and 92 soon followed with hillside and rice versions available.

The “Equipment Manufacturers Institute” recognized the self-propelled combine as one of the “100 Most Significant Contributions” to the mechanization of agriculture.

Introduction of the MF9005 Series combines: The world’s most efficient, productive and reliable grain-handling system.

Massey Ferguson acquired the rotary com-bine technology from White Farm Equipment and went on to produce two models, the MF8560 and the MF8590. This signaled the start of the transition from conventional to axial rotary combine technology.

Both the MF 700 and 800 series combines were sold worldwide and set industry- leading standards for grain harvesting excellence.

1970s-1980s

2010 Massey Ferguson introduces the Model 9250 DynaFlex, the industry’s first draper header with a fully flexible cutterbar for increased performance and capacity in soybeans and small grains.

The fastest unloading rate from the biggest bin in the business and more.

Massey Ferguson invented self-propelled combines

way back in 1938 – an achievement that’s been

recognized as one of the 100 most significant

contributions to the mechanization of agriculture.

Faster unloading

equals using less

time, less fuel and

less horsepower.

Today more than ever before, choosing a Massey Ferguson® combine for your operation is the smartest thing you can do. All three models feature improved performance, productivity and operator comfort.

Our MF9695 Class VI and MF9795 Class VII combines are equipped with the same “Direct High Volume” grain unloading system featured on our MF9895 Class VIII combines. Imagine the world’s fastest unloading rate at 4.5 bushels per second – no combine even comes close. If you need extra bin capacity, the MF9795 can also be equipped with an optional 350-bushel grain bin to reach Class VIII levels of even greater productivity.

Our substantially redesigned operator’s cab on all three models features narrow “B” posts to improve header visibility, an improved lighting system and a new C2000 Virtual Terminal to provide more functional information than ever before. The entire series features modern and bold family styling. We’ve even simplified serviceability, with a reliable, refined system that requires fewer belts, augers, chains and gearboxes. Orbit Reel The optional orbit reel can be field-installed in any HCC reel. This design brings the reel tines closer to the header cross auger before exiting the feeding area. Changing the traditional circular travel path of the tines to this elliptical path, the gap triangle between the cutter bar, auger and traditional reel is reduced and positive material flow to the cross auger is achieved. Material buildup on the cutter bar and crop slugging is significantly reduced.

Header features you’ll appreciate.

SCH Sickle with Rollerguides The SCH Rollerguide is exclusive to the SCH sickle. The Rollerguide decreases the friction between the sickle and the guard providing reduced wear on the components.

High Capacity Sickle The high capacity sickle sys-tem feature spring loaded hold downs spaced 18" (457 mm). No adjustment is required and provides an effective cut in high speed applications.

MF7200 Series Rigid / MF8200 Series Flex Heads

With cutting widths available from 25 ft. (6.1 m) to 35 ft. (10.6 m), our MF7200 Rigid and MF8200 Flexible straight cut heads feature exceptional strength and per-formance. Both heads feature a fully welded main frame and the SCH epicyclic sickle drive ensures smooth, inline high torque cutting action, for a high-speed harvest.

The large 30" (762 mm) diameter cross auger, with 7" (178 mm) deep auger flighting and full width auger fingers, smoothly conveys high-yielding crop, assuring even crop flow into the combine feed elevator.

Feathering sheets on the MF8200 Flex Header optimally positions incoming crop on the header floor, allowing the reel to gently sweep the crop into the cross auger for smooth, even feeding.

Standard on the model MF8200, the SCH sickle and guards offer a unique, double-cut feature that increases cutting efficiency and overall harvest productivity. You can expect reduced maintenance and extended wear life.

Long wearing polyurethane skid plates are standard equipment on the MF8200 header and help keep the header operating at the selected height when operating over rocky or uneven terrain.

Page 14: The most 9005 Series Class VI, VII & VIII Combines

MF9250 DynaFlex header: the best of both worlds

Capacity, control and adaptability take a giant leap forward with the MF9250 DynaFlex flexible cutter bar draper header. With a cutting width up to 40 feet (12.2 m), the DynaFlex provides all the flexibility of an auger-style flex header, combined with the gentle and fluid material handling of a draper header – all while connecting to the 9005 Series’ dual PTO shaft hook-ups and single-point multi-coupler, without the need for an adapter. The fully flexible, cab-controlled cutterbar provides up to eight inches (203 mm) of vertical travel

for ground-hugging harvesting that picks up low-hanging pods and downed crops just as easily as standing grain.

Independent tilt arms, located every 30 inches (76.2 cm) across the header width, are hydraulically controlled with a range of 0 to 3,000 psi for precise fingertip pressure control and smooth, even adjustment. Yet, with a flip of a switch, the header can be converted to a rigid unit for harvesting crops like wheat and barley.

Meanwhile, dual, shaft-driven SCH (Schumacher) epicyclical sickle drives provide up to 400% more torque than conventional drives for smooth, positive power and increased cutterbar performance. From there, fiberglass-reinforced drapers convey the crop to the center draper where a center-feed auger actively pulls the crop “head first” into the feederhouse. Faster cutterbar speeds, less crop handling, reduced vibration and the elimination of bottlenecks at the feederhouse all add up to increased harvesting rates and more efficient use of power and combine capacity.

Smartrac™ keeps your headers inline. Effortlessly.

Keeping headers operating at the correct position when harvesting over rolling terrain or terraces is always a challenge. But Massey Ferguson Smartrac takes the guesswork out of getting it right. And keeping it right. Simple switches in the operator’s hydro handle control header raise, lower, and float functions on the header. Eight degrees of lateral tilt is usually optimal on the most rolling terrain. When you’d rather assume manual control, just flip a switch and it’s all yours.

Smartrac Header Sensor Rods Smartrac header sensor rods follow ground contours, signaling the hydraulic system to correct the lateral position of the header accordingly. Automatic operation improves crop harvesting performance and reduces operator fatigue. Header automatically levels when raised to full transport position.

Bat Flip Over KitThe optional Bat Flip Over Kit changes the bat pattern to allow better work in small or flat crops.

Flexible CutterbarThe fully flexible cutterbar is controlled hydraulically from the cab and allows for up to 8 in. (203 mm) of vertical travel.

No Adapter NeededThe MF9250 DynaFlex hooks directly to the combine feederhouse without any adapter in between. Two hydraulic cylinders allow to tilt the header 12 degrees to adjust the header for the best cutting angle.

Dual Sickle DriveA dual mechanical SCH epicyclical sickle drive is balanced for a reduced vibration, higher sickle speed (1,200 strokes/min) and up to 400% increase in cutting torque.

8 Degrees of Tilt One large double-acting hydraulic cylinder powers the Smartrac lateral tilt frame, which pivots a total of 8 degrees on a large steel pin located at the bottom center of the feed house.

Threshing and separating at its highest level. Ever.

A

B

C

D

At the heart of the Massey Ferguson 9005 Series, you’ll find the secret to our success – and yours. It’s our unique threshing and separating system, the ATR (Advanced Technology Rotor). It amplifies the efficiencies inherent in rotary threshing technology. The intake and discharge design is patented. And the longest rotor in the industry at 140" (3,556 mm) takes combine performance to an entirely new level.

Our MF9695 and MF9795 models feature a 27.5" (700 mm) diameter rotor. The MF9895 is equipped with a higher capacity 31.5" (800 mm) diameter rotor. On all three, rotor length is 140". The long rotor length, plus 160° concave wrap delivers more complete crop threshing and separation with gentle crop-handling characteristics.

Twenty-five years. Thousands of satisfied farmers. Millions of tons of results. Read on and we’ll share a few more reasons why our axial rotary combines offer better performance and reliability.

Helical Vane Front FeederThe patented front feeder is positioned just below the rotor intake area. It runs at a constant speed and features opposed helical vanes that evenly feed the rotor and assure a smooth crop flow. Stones or other foreign items are deflected into the stone trap by the front feeder to avoid damage to threshing components.

B

A

C

D

Outstanding Crop VersatilityOur “Advanced Technology Rotor” design has been improved to provide additional threshing capacity, improved grain sample and less drive torque requirements. The high-profile chrome-hardened cylinder bars have been extended forward to immediately start the threshing process. The bars are reversible to ensure long life and reduced maintenance cost.

Threshing Elements have been replaced with extended threshing bars for gentler crop treatment. Two Rotor Reverse Bars positioned 180 degrees apart add to the power of the threshing and separation process. Our rice combines utilize four sets of reverse bars positioned 90 degrees apart.

Large Grain Separating Area with three rows of separation paddles keeps the threshed crop rotating in the rotor cage while separating the remaining kernels of grain from the residue.

Three Rows of Seven Rotor Knives are bolted to the length of the rotor to keep the threshed crop mat broken up and to further add to the efficiency of grain separation. In heavy crop mat conditions, up to 21 additional rotor knives can be added for additional separation capacity.

Unique Concave DesignOur MF9895 Combine is equipped with a uniquely designed split concave and linkage that adjusts both sides of the concave to provide uniform concave clearance around the entire 160 degrees of the concave. This results in more complete crop threshing and greater utilization of the shoe grain pan width, due to even material spread.

In-Cab Rotor ReverserMF 9005 Series combines feature full power rotor-reversing capability. No need to leave the operator’s cab and no special wrenches are required. Should the rotor become plugged, simply open the concave from the C2000 Virtual Terminal. Toggle the rotor-reverser from the terminal to clear the material. Restore the selected concave setting and resume harvesting – it’s just that easy!

Constant Speed Rotor Control

The system maintains the selected rotor speed

even though crop yield may vary or the engine

speed change. An overload alarm senses maxi-

mum rotor capacity and warns of potential rotor

plugging.

The unique concave

linkage design creates an

even threshing pressure

for better grain quality

on the MF9895.

3-Speed Rotor Drive Gear Box Just what you need to select the right combination of rotor speed and drive torque to efficiently harvest a wide variety of crops. Capacity is maximized and combine fuel consumption is minimized. MF9795 and MF9695 are equipped with a 2-speed rotor drive gear box.

Page 18: The most 9005 Series Class VI, VII & VIII Combines

High capacity cleaningbin after bin.

We’ve built our Massey Ferguson 9005 Series combines to work as hard as you do. And our state-of-the-art grain cleaning system is a perfect example of just what we mean.

Let’s start with the 71" (1,800 mm) long high-capacity reciprocating grain pan that efficiently delivers threshed and separated grain to the front of the cleaning shoe. This simple system literally eliminates issues associated with auger-type conveyer systems used in competitive combines.

Beyond that, a high-capacity, high-volume cleaning fan keeps the cleaning shoe area fully pressurized for maximum performance in heavy yield conditions. Fan speed is adjustable from the C2000 Virtual Terminal and allows you to select the correct air flow for the crop being harvested.

Two fan speed ranges are provided. Fan speed can be set to an even slower speed range for small light-weight seed crops by installing an optional slow-down pulley kit.

For additional crop cleaning, the clean grain elevator can be equipped with an optional perforated elevator boot that allows dust and dirt to fall out on the ground as crop is being conveyed to the grain bin.

Most combine augers are chrome-plated for long wear life and static balanced.

No augers needed to

move the material to

the cleaning area. Less

augers mean less chance

parts will wear or break.

Unloading? Nobody does it better.Or faster than 4.5 bushels/s.

We’ve delivered the most efficient, productive grain-handling system in the world by combining the largest capacity bin available, with the industry’s fastest unloading rate.

Increase your capacity. All three MF9005 Series models feature our Direct High Volume on-the-go unloading system that unloads at 4.5 bushels/s. (159 l/s.). Unload the MF9895 or optional on the MF9795 – 350-bushel (12,334 L) grain bin in a mere 88 seconds! The standard MF9795 and MF9695 – 300-bushel (10,570 L) bin unloads even quicker.

Decrease your downtime. No other threshing system is designed to be so innovatively simple – there are just fewer parts to wear out. This new bin unloading system is direct drive with only 2 augers and does not use the vertical auger found on competitive turret systems (3 augers). Fewer drive components and augers require less horsepower and reduce the chance of grain damage.

Maintain your sanity. Even when service is necessary, easier access to those parts get you back in the field fast. The auger swing and drive engagement are operated by the controls in the hydro-handle. And combining systems within five seconds after the operator leaves the seat when these systems are engaged.

Chopper, spreader or direct discharge. Residue management the right way.

When it’s harvest time, you’ve got your hands full. Literally. Which is why we’ve designed our MF9005 Series combines to make every facet of the process as flexible and efficient as possible – right down to residue management.

Regardless of the crops you produce, we offer you a choice of methods to not only manage this aspect of your harvest, but to maximize it.

Straw Chopper – High-yielding crops demand a high capacity straw chopper, with widespread capability. That’s what you get with Massey Ferguson straw choppers. Hardened and sharpened knives and impeller blades aggressively chop the residue. A deep-finned spreader board is easily adjusted to provide the material spread pattern you need to promote rapid decomposition.

The straw chopper is mounted to the combine on a rail system that allows it to be moved forward to the chop position or backward to the direct discharge position. The operator simply uses the header- latching wrench to rotate the sprocket drive.

Chaff Spreader The chaff spreader can be used in conjunction with a straw spreader or straw chopper. It provides a widespread of residue from the cleaning shoe and improves field conditions for tillage, planting and chemical applications, by dispersing the residue mat.

Straw SpreaderOur two-speed twin disc straw spreader provides an efficient, economical method of managing crop residue. A unique offset disc design minimizes interference between the two spread patterns of the twin discs for maximum spreading width. The two-speed drive system allows you to speed up or slow down to match crop residue volume.

Direct-Discharge System If baling straw is essential to your operation, the Advanced Technology Rotor requires no discharge beaters, conveyer belts or other straw-damaging mechanisms to move the straw away from the rotor discharge area.

No extra belts means

less maintenance on our

direct-discharge system.

And more free time

for you.

Work hard. Ride easy. See a ton.

Farming is demanding enough. As you’re working those hundreds of acres, or even those thousands of acres, your cab environment itself should do more to help you get the job done.

That’s why our MF9005 Series cabs are designed to be the roomiest, most comfortable and quietest around.

With enhanced visibility including large, electrically adjusted rear-view mirrors, controls placed right where your hands want to go and a climate-control system that keeps you going strong, in heat or cold.

A large cab door makes entry and exit easy. And an exit light with automatic shut-off makes it easy at night. The convenient linear shift transmission and ergonomically designed multi-function hydro handle are responsive and precise. And the C2000 Virtual Terminal is integrated right into the unique “command arm” which can be adjusted by the operator and moves with the deluxe seat for maximum visibility.

And just to keep you breathing easier, there are even high-capacity air filters to clean incoming air and recirculated air, removing dust and dirt tracked into the cab.

An even comfier, deluxe leather seat with a heater is also an option.

Relax with our

quiet, ergonomical

and comfortable cab.

And increase your

productivity.

Horsepower you can feel.

Talk about horsepower. Early combines were drawn by horse and mule teams, using a Bull Wheel to provide power. Obviously, times have changed.

In the MF9005 Series Massey Ferguson combines, class-leading horsepower and torque and exceptional fuel economy are provided by 84CTA AGCO SISU POWER advanced technology engines, on MF9695 and the MF9795. Turbocharged and after-cooled, these 513 CID, 6-cylinder engines are Tier III emissions compliant and feature a common rail fuel injection system. A fuel lubricated 3-piston radial pump supplies fuel to each of the electronically operated 8-hole fuel injectors. To further enhance fuel economy these engines are BioDiesel compatible.

Electronic Engine Management 3 (EEM3) constantly monitors engine performance requirements and can make up to 100 adjustments per second to fuel delivery rate and timing. Plain and simple, that means faster response to engine power requirements, lower exhaust emissions and excellent fuel economy.

An automatic electric pre-heater located in the intake manifold provides quicker starting in cold weather. The fuel system senses fuel temperature and adjusts the delivery rate to provide better power response and smooth running.

These six cylinder engines are designed with two-cylinder heads. Two rocker arms per cylinder operate two intake and two exhaust valves to assure easy breathing and quick response to horsepower demands.

To ensure smooth performance and long life, the connecting rods of each engine are individually weighed and balanced. Accountable engine assembly is quality assured. Each engine is inspected by an expert technician who, upon completion, signs their name to the engine side plate.

SisuDiesel™ Dual Liner SupportWet cylinder liners are supported in two additional places with precision machined support rings located in the cylinder block. Two liner support rings and three lower liner sealing rings provide maximum liner support, reduced vibration and reduced liner corrosion due to vibration. This exclusive design directs 70% of the liner coolant flow to the upper part of the cylinder liner to quickly dissipate high combustion temperatures from inside the engine. Competitive engines with wet cylinder liners have only one support ring.

Air Intake ScreenOur hydrostatically driven, rotating air intake screen, with air seal, provides a large unobstructed flow of clean air to the engine cooling system. The MF9695 and MF9795 combines are equipped with a 40” (1,000 mm) diameter air intake screen. The combine air intake screen on MF9895 is 50” (1,260 mm) in diameter.

SisuDiesel CP3.3 Injection Pump A three-piston radial pump supplies fuel at 20,000 PSI to the common rail injection system. EEM 3 constantly monitors engine performance and continuously adjusts fuel delivery and timing for maximum fuel economy.

Four Valves per Cylinder 24-valve cylinder head design improves combustion chamber air flow and air to fuel mix capabilities which reduce engine exhaust emissions.

Heavy-dutydrive components.

None of us are in this for the short haul. You expect your combine to operate season after season, with long-term, absolute reliability. And so do we.

In fact, we wouldn’t settle for anything less. That’s why we’ve designed our heavy-duty Massey Ferguson combine drive axle beam to be an integral part of the combine frame structure. It’s literally where the strength and integrity of the drive, braking and suspension system begins.

Our wide, heavy-duty final drives provide a gear reduction of 7.066:1. The axles that power them are located behind the main axle beam, to protect them from damage.

Whether you’re harvesting the rice fields of Arkansas and Louisiana or the hills of Idaho and Washington, Massey Ferguson 9005 Series combines have the power train components to get the job done, with a heavy-duty constant mesh four-speed linear shift transmission that efficiently transmits engine power to the ground.

Adjustable Rear Axle Heavy-duty components like our rugged rear axle have the strength you need to handle rough terrain and full grain bins. The high-capacity axle with heavy-duty spindles and two double-acting steering cylinders, offers a wide range of rear tread settings to match row spacing. The MF9795 can also be equipped with this heavier duty rear axle option to accommodate larger tire options and 350 bushel grain bin.

Rear-Wheel Assist You can’t always choose your harvest conditions, so choose a combine with electronic rear-wheel assist. The MF9895 features two-speed rear-wheel assist that keeps you going when traction conditions are demanding (optional on MF9795). Select low speed RWA in bad conditions and normal when conditions are better.
