For example ... The Flume is a whitewater log flume, an original ride that opened at the Mall in 1992 and has come to be called the Log Chute. It's an exciting water adventure where riders travel through a cavernous mountain, ending in a 40-foot drop. I first rode the Flume back in the '90's and learned it's best to navigate this ride when done shopping and close to going home because one will not stay dry on this whitewater river in the midst of the Mall. Did you know that The Flume is also a natural gorge, a channel for water, located at the base of Mount Liberty in Franconia State Park in New Hampshire? Extending 800 feet, the gorge features walls of granite that rise to a height of 90 feet. This NH flume was discovered in 1808 by 93-year old Jess Guernsey when she accidentally came upon it while fishing. At the floor of the naturally occurring Flume are small trees growing on the walls of the gorge -- just like at the Mall of America. Windsor is a best shopping store at the Mall for prom clothing! But it also features women's tops, jackets, bottoms, shoes, and other accessories. Did you know that the House of Windsor is the reigning royal house of the United Kingdom? Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and the Queen's favorite weekend home. Windsor is located in the English county of Berkshire. The Rainforest is a jungle-themed restaurant at the Mall. It's an entertaining place to shop and eat, serving tropical treats, appetizers, salads, and more. Kids love it! Did you know that the largest rainforests are located in the Amazon River Basin of South America, the Congo River Basin of Africa, and throughout much of southeast Asia? Those in the Amazon are mostly in Brazil but also in Peru, Columbia, and other countries. The average temperature of the tropical rainforest ranges from 70 to 85 degrees. Rainfall is up to 400 inches in one year! Alpaca Connection at the Mall features clothing items made of Alpaca fur -- like ladies slippers, men's sweaters, pillows, teddy bears, and moccasins. The fur is very soft, durable, and does not retain water. Did you know that Alpaca is a species of South American camelid, smaller than llamas but closely related? Originating from Peru, they live in the foothills of the Andes Mountains and can be found all over South America, including Bolivia, Ecuador, and Chile. Tommy Bahama's is a purveyor of island lifestyles at the Mall and maker of active-wear and sportswear clothing and accessories. Did you know that the Islands of the Bahamas are located within the Lucayan Archipelago in the West Indies? More precisely they are located near Cuba and Florida coastlines. The political capital is Nassau. New York & Company features women's clothing and accessories at the Mall. It is a retailer for wear-to-work apparel and accessories. Did you know that New York City is the most populous city in the USA? In 2018 its population was 8.5 million. It is also the most densely populated city in the USA. As a global power city, New York City is the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world. Brighton is a shop at the Mall that sells fashionable jewelry, bracelets, earrings, watches, necklaces, rings, charms, and unique handbags -- even shoes! Did you know that Brighton is a seaside resort city in the county of East Essex, located on the south coast of England, about an hour south of London? It is known for fish and chips on the beach. Brighton's nickname is "London by Sea." Indochino is a menswear retailer at the Mall featuring custom made suits, shirts, jackets, vests, and chinos which are produced and shipped out of Dalian, China. Did you know that the name Indochina (with an "a", not an "o" at the end) refers to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and is also called the Indochinese Peninsula? Indochina is a region in Southeast Asia, located east of India and south of China. Club Monaco is a high end clothing establishment at the Mall for men and women and is owned by Ralph Lauren Corporation. It features fashionable dresses, shirts, pants, coats and trench coats. Did you know that Monaco is a sovereign city state located on the French Riviera in Western Europe, on the Mediterranean Sea? It is known as a billionaire's playground and is famous for wealth, casinos, and glamorous events. Canada Goose is a producer of extreme weather outerwear. Its store at the Mall includes high quality jackets, parkas, and accessories for women, men, and kids. It's not where you shop for a cruise to the Bahamas. Did you know that the big, black-necked Canada Goose is a large wild goose species with a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body? The Canada Goose is native to arctic and temperate regions of North America. Banana Republic at the Mall offers modern, refined, versatile, and contemporary clothing and accessories for men and women, including coats and jackets. Did you know that a country is labeled as a Banana Republic when it has a shady government and an economy that depends on bananas? A Banana Republic is a politically unstable country. Honduras and Guatemala, for example, have suffered the title. North Face is a manufacturer of activewear and outdoor sports gear, including shoes and bags. Did you know North Face, generally the coldest, iciest, and most formidable side of a mountain to climb — like the North Face of Mount Everest in Himalaya — refers to the North Face of a mountain in the Alps of Switzerland. The North Face of the Matterhorn, the jewel of the Swiss Alps, straddles the frontier between Switzerland and Italy. At the Mall of the World fountains and mountains . . . Floor and stores . . .
