Performance vs Narrative

The video opens with a front on long shot setting of a performance/ concert. However the costumes and

setting give the impression of an older era.

The camera then cuts to a front on long shot of a group of people(giving the impression they are the audience). Forcing that this a concert/performance type setting. This front on long shot also suggest a past/older era.

The camera continues in the same location, however cuts to a front on close up.

The camera then cuts a front on midshot which is followed by another front on midshot. The two front on

midshots are very close together during video suggesting there might be a connect between the two

characters.

The connection between the two characters is again reinforced as both front on midshots of the characters are close to together. The red apple held in the males hand gives negative connotations of evil, poison and

death. These connotations suggest a negative narrative which is partly suggested/ emphasised by the lyrics.

The camera then cuts to a front on midshot showing two couples, however one couple are leaving the scene which could be

emphasised/suggested by the lyrics ‘and they’re going to bed ’.

The camera cuts to a front on two shot. The two shot suggesting a relationship between the two characters

again suggesting a relationship is the base of the narrative.

The camera then cuts to another front on two shot. The front on two shot again suggests a relationship type

narrative focused around love.
