The GLK-Class

It is said that character is shaped by experience. But this is a case where the reverse applies. For example, thereʼs every chance youʼll experience a quickening of the pulse at the sight of the characteristic wheel housings. The near-vertical rear with its short overhang and new LED tail lights suggests an irrepressible sense of forward movement which is picked up by the powerful front with LED daytime running lamps in the bumper. Even before you turn the ignition on, the new-generation GLK sparks a real sense of anticipation.

The best in modern architecture,wherever you live

The off-road capability of the new-generation GLK is reflected in more than just the characteristic shape of its body. Advanced safety features are also well represented. A case in point is the optional Active Lane Keeping Assist function which can give a warning if the vehicle crosses the road markings unintentionally and, if this is ignored, intervene through selective brake application to optimise the trajectory.

An off-roader that can keep you on course

Geometry is a universal language which is used to great effect in the vehicle interior to communicate quality, character and connectivity. As an option, the new-generation GLK can even speak another language – HTML: COMAND Online and a compatible device with wireless internet access allow you to surf the web at the touch of a button. And you can do this in surround-ings more stylish and comfortable than many an office, thanks to the combination of sporty design, exclusive materials and ergonomic seats.

Softer edges but a sharper character – more than ever, the new-generation GLK is a model of stylish sophistication, but nevertheless remains absolutely true to itself. Highlights of the redesigned exterior include new front and rear sections which give the SUV an even more dynamic presence. This is complemented by new light-alloy wheels as well as three new paintwork colours. The interior has also been updated completely with a high-quality dashboard and fine trim as well as a standard-fit multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather. The multimedia systems can be com-bined with the optional new Becker® MAP PILOT or can be specified in the form of COMAND Online whose features include a web browser. Another optional enhance-ment for the GLK is the Exterior Chrome package while the interior can be individu -alised with optional sports seats, high-quality leather upholstery or, for the first time, climatised seats.

Comfort also means having the liberty to go where you want. The new-generation GLK opens up a new dimension of freedom with the Off-Road Engineering package (available as an option for the 4MATIC versions). Even terrain that is difficult to access can be negotiated relatively easily when the off-road driving mode is engaged and the suspension height is raised by 30 mm. The traction is adjusted for off-road operation at the touch of a button which causes selective changes to be made to the drive characteristics of the engine and transmission. Furthermore, the ABS and ESP® systems are adjusted while Downhill Speed Regulation DSR, which is also included in the package, maintains a constant low speed – as far as this is physically possible – during steep descents. The optional Parking package with PARKTRONIC and Active Parking Assist can support the driver when searching for a parking space and manoeuvring into it, helping to prevent any damage in the process. A reversing camera assists the driver during parking manoeuvres while the 360° camera, which also forms part of the package, sends a birdʼs-eye view to the central display.

Safety Efficiency Performance that makes itself felt on the road, yet is easier on the environment, too. The powerful engines of the new-generation GLK combine driving pleasure with reduced fuel consumption and low emissions. All models are equipped as standard with the ECO start/stop function while numerous other BlueEFFICIENCY measures make effective contributions to reducing the quantity of fuel required for each kilometre and cutting pollutant emissions, too. This is made possible by a number of new diesel and petrol engines with direct injection as well as factors such as optimised transmissions, intel-ligent energy management, weight optimisation, driver information for maintaining an energy-saving driving style and tyres with optimised rolling resistance.

Face the challenges of city driving with confidence. Up to ten optional assistance systems are available for even greater driving safety. They can do this either by avoiding potentially hazardous situations as soon as they start to develop, giving timely warning of them, or assisting the driver in critical situations. The radar-based DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control is a component of the optional Driving Assistance package Plus, as are Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist. Both systems can give warning of hazardous lane-changing situations, whether deliberate or unintentional, and apply selective braking to individual wheels, if necessary. With optional PRE-SAFE®, the new GLK can call on a safety system able to identify potentially hazardous driving situations and initiate preventive safety measures for the occupants.

Active Parking Assist, which is integrated in the Parking package, automatically searches for a suitable parking space and manoeuvres the vehicle into it at the touch of a button. The driver only has to stop, select reverse gear and then operate the accelerator, the transmission and the brake.

The driver of the new GLK can get a different view of the area immediately around the vehicle without even changing position. The comprehensive Parking package includes a 360° camera system, which is able to monitor all four sides of the vehicle, as well as Active Parking Assist including PARKTRONIC.

The 360° camera feature comprises a close-range camera system with four cameras and a control unit which can display a birdʼs-eye view of the vehicle and its surround-ings. One camera is mounted centrally at the front in the radiator grille, there is one in each exterior mirror and

one in the centre of the tailgate. The virtual viewpoint generated from the camera images covers an area extending approximately 3 metres to the front and rear of the vehicle. The representation shown on the central display also provides visual support during off-road driving. Audible and visible warnings are given when obstacles are detected to the front and rear of the vehicle.

An even more distinctive character and enhanced dynamics are standard with the new-generation GLK. The revised exterior design, which features new head-lamps and LED tail lights along with updated front and rear bumpers, also catches the eye with LED daytime running lamps integrated in the lower bumper as well as chromed tailpipes. Additional standard-fit high-lights are provided by a new paintwork colour and light-alloy wheels in an attractive 7-spoke design with 235/60 R 17 tyres. Also new is the interior, whose contemporary ambience is complemented by an all-new dashboard, materials with a high-quality look and feel, a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather along with a new seat upholstery design and light aluminium trim. THERMATIC automatic climate control maintains a comfortable cabin temperature and the new-generation Audio 20 CD system ensures a correspondingly high standard of in-car entertainment en route .

Optional extras

not just high-mileage drivers who will recognise the benefits of the new COMAND Online multimedia system with a hard-disc-based navigation system and optimised map display on a large colour screen. In combination with a web-enabled mobile phone, the integrated web browser allows access to the Internet as well as various mobile services from Mercedes-Benz.

The optionally available AMG Exterior Sports package adds particularly powerful emphasis to the visibly more dynamic presence of the new-generation GLK. It achieves this through features such as distinctive AMG front and rear aprons as well as body-colour side sill panels. A correspondingly high standard of sporty indi-vidualisation can also be created inside the vehicle with the Interior Sports package.

It is possible to make an even more dazzling impression with the Exterior Chrome package. The Off-Road Engi-neering package for vehicles with 4MATIC is aimed in particular at drivers who also like to take their GLK into more difficult terrain.

Take-back of end-of-life vehicles. We shall be pleased to take back your GLK-Class at the end of its long life for environment-friendly disposal in accordance with the EU (European Union) End-Of-Life Vehicle Directive. But that day lies a long way off .
