Principal’s Report
School Planning – We Need You!
The NSW DEC has set a new method of planning for
schools which takes effect this year. By the end of
Term 1 we must have our 2015-2017 plan finalised. As
such, we will be asking parents, staff and students to
provide feedback on areas of importance in our
school.
A quick survey has been set up online for you to put
forward your ideas. This survey is completely anony-
mous. Please share your ideas with us so we can plan
the next phase of development for our school. You
can use the link below to take part. The link will be
placed on our Facebook page so you can access it with
a single click.

Welcome Mr Mannes
Year 4 welcomed Mr Mannes to BCS today. After
spending a little time with together on Friday it seems
that they will all get along nicely.
Canteen Upgrade
Our canteen is having a make-over this year. Our DEC
Asset Manager informs me that we are lucky to be the
recipients of over $100,000 of equipment and refur-
bishing, including new bench tops, brand new top of
the range fridge and freezers, a new reverse cycle air-
conditioning unit, new bathroom facilities, new cup-
boards and drawers and a new 900mm stainless steel
stove. These items are all essential to bring our canteen
up to the NSW DEC standards for food service. The up-
grade is planned to be completed by the end of June
this year. The campaign to have a demountable building
upgraded is a long and hard one, so we are extremely
happy to have received this renovation to our facilities.
Science Lab Upgrade
Our Science
Lab has been
a hive of ac-
tivity this
term with its
refurbish-
ment. There
are new
benches,
cupboards,
flooring, paint, sinks, gas taps, lights, fume cupboard,
fridge and hot water system. New blinds have also been
ordered. Work is scheduled to finish this Friday, so sci-
ence classes should be back to normal and enjoying
their new classroom from
Monday. More pictures to
follow on the finished product
next week.
Have a great week!

Students please remember your lunch orders must be
placed in the box before recess.
Uniforms …..
The P & C would appreciate payment of outstanding mon-
ey that is owed for uniforms. The P & C are obligated to
pay suppliers and if we do not receive money from par-
ents and carers this makes it very difficult. Some people
were going to do a direct deposit into the P & C account
but maybe with the holidays it could have slipped your
minds. As discussed at the P & C meeting I will be re issu-
ing invoices to families, if you are having any difficulties
feel free to contact the school office or Jeanette Brumby.
Student Lockers A reminder for secondary students using the new lockers purchased by our P&C last year. Students who already have a new locker are required to pay a $5 hire fee for 2015. This is due to the school by 27th February. Students who are not currently using a new locker but
would like to use one are required to pay $20 to the office
by 27th February. Thank you
P&C AGM
The P&C AGM will be held on Tuesday, March 10. If you
wish to be able to vote on matters that arise at meetings,
annual subscriptions must be received before this date.
Please fill in the form and return to the school office in
an envelope, clearly marked P&C membership.

The Twilight Swimming Carnival
B.C.S
students
and parents
crossed the
road to the
swimming
pool be-
cause it was
the swimming carnival. First we went to the pool for
the carnival. After that we started the swimming. I
came first in the first race that was free style and I even
went in the junior relay. When it was the adults race
Mrs Luppi hugged Mr Davies and they jumped in the
pool and it was funny. Alannah Curran
On Thursday we went to the pool. We did races. I tried
the free style and did the backstroke and did breast
stroke. Suleyman Uzun
The whole
school went
to the pool
from 3.00pm
to 8.00pm.
We went to
the
swimming
carnival.
Most people had either blue of red zinc. Everyone said
go Macarthur or go Farrer. I said go Macarthur because
I was in Macarthur. When I went to the carnival I went
in free style, back stroke, butterfly, breast stroke and
then the secondary swam then it was presentations.
When all the racers went to presentation the teacher
said what team won, it was Macarthur. All the Macar-
thur’s jumped
and then eve-
ryone jumped
in the pool
and some left.
Allie Haida
We went to
the swimming
carnival on Thursday. I went to the swimming carnival
my first race was the breast stroke. I came second and
then I played. My team won. Lachlan Ellis

K/1 Class News
This week we become the K/1 class. It is wonderful to now have four classes at BCS and we wish the year 2 students all the best in the 2/3 class. I know they will work very hard and have lots of fun. Best Start Assessment feedback to parents forms went home on Friday. If you have any questions in regards to these please contact me. I have sent home invitations to parents last week for you to connect to your child’s Class Dojo. I have also sent invi-tations via email to many parents. It would be wonderful if you could connect soon. There is a Class Dojo app that is a quick way to check Class Dojo for those of you with smart phones or tablets. I am away this Thursday to attend Best Start training. Miss Rhiannon Clark will be taking K/1 and following our nor-mal Thursday routine.
This Week
Mobile

Please ensure you have completed the Mobile Library form and returned to the school so you child is able to borrow when it visits our school tomorrow.
Assem-bly
This week we will have our first primary assem-bly for the year. If you are available to come we would love to see you there. It will begin at 2pm in the school canteen area.
Library Library day is tomorrow please ensure your child returns their books that were borrowed last week and ensure they have a library bag to protect our school books.
Homework
Home Read-ing
It is important that in these early days of read-ing children are encouraged throughout. Please sit with your child to complete the reader. You may need to read parts of the book. For in-stance your child may say the section of the book that is repeated and you read any new words. It is very important to keep home read-ing a positive experience.
Please ignore the days in the home reader book. If you could complete each page it will be easier to keep track. It is also appreciated if you can keep a running number of the nights students have read throughout the year it would be ap-preciated.
Math-letics and Reading Eggs
Mathletics and Reading Eggs passwords went home on Friday. This is not compulsory.
Our first 85s Club winners for the year are:
2/3/4 - Jordan Spowart & Spencer Tarlinton
(prize box)
4/5/6 - Jane Haeusler
& Norman Haeusler
(canteen vouchers)
Australian Schools Competitions 2015 - The Australian
Schools Competitions run by the University of New South
Wales will be on again this year. Competitions are held in
schools throughout Australia and the Pacific. All students
from Years 2 to 12 are encouraged to participate.
Participating in the competitions is good practice for the
students in undertaking external examinations (e.g. Naplan
and HSC). All students receive a certificate of participation
or for those students who perform well, certificates of mer-
it or even distinction.
Entry fees (subsidised by the school) are $5.00 for each
student for each competition, except for the writing com-
petition which costs $12 and the primary spelling competi-
tion which costs $7.00 (these last two are hand marked by
specialists in their fields which is why they cost extra). The
entry form is included in this week’s Gazette and is due
back with the payment to the school office by Friday March
13. Dates for competitions will be included in the school
calendar as they become closer.

This Week’ Sporting News………………….
Secondary Zone Swimming Carnival ~ A small but dedicated group of 11 swimmers travelled to Ariah Park last Friday to compete at the Secondary Zone Carnival. Everyone swam to the best of their ability and a lot of places were achieved. The best individual result for the day was Lillian Geltch, in the Jun-ior Girls Championship coming runner-up. The school finished a close fourth overall and considering the small number of swimmers, this was a wonderful result. The most pleasing thing from my point of view was the number of students who 'volunteered' to swim in place of those who chose not to attend. The Senior Girls also won both their relays. The Riverina Carnival is on next Friday, March 6, in Leeton. I will have entries and permission notes available ASAP. A HUGE thank you to the parents who arranged transport for the swimmers and helped with officiating. Primary Zone Carnival ~ This will be held in Ariah Park this Thursday, Feb 26. Swimmers will need to be there by 9am if they wish to do a warm-up and the first event will commence around 9.30. Permission notes and travel arrangements need to be finalised by tomorrow, 24th. Secondary RAP Teams ~A number of gala days, carnivals and knockouts are coming up quickly. Students and parents need to keep an eye out for dates as in some teams, we only have 1 or 2 students participating so they will probably need to or-ganise their own transport. Secondary Boys Cricket is this Wednesday, 25th, in Coleam-bally. Kokulan Kandeepan will be playing in these games. Next week, the boys and girls Touch Football teams travel to Griffith. This is on Tuesday, March 3. In the girls team, Shane Gibson and Hannah Kenny are representing B.C.S. Primary Tennis Trials ~ Congratulations to Jake Bourchier,
Norm and Jane Haeusler and Tait Snaith who attended the
first round of selections for the PSSA Riverina tennis team.
Norm, Jane and Jake were successful in being selected to
attend the final round of selections for the combined Riverina
team in Griffith in the next few weeks. All 4 students won
matches and participated in the right spirit. More details to
follow.
PSSA Netball and AFL Trials ~ These will be held in Coolamon
in Week 7, Wednesday, 11th of March. We have 4 boys and 4
girls attending these trials, good luck to those students.
PSSA Riverina Tennis Trials ~ will be held in Griffith on Friday,
March 6.
ALL students are reminded that they need to keep up with their schoolwork and follow the school's Super 6 to be grant-ed the privilege of representing the school in any sporting endeavours. Final Notice for Awards
This week is the last chance for anyone wishing to purchase
