EssEntial Oils: nature’s extraordinary healthy Agents

essential oils are life-enhancing gifts from the plant kingdom, revered for centuries for their restorative properties to the body, mind, and spirit. pure essential oils are a key solution to the challenges facing modern lifestyles.

essential oils are freshly cultivated and distilled from plants, shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds. they contain oxygenating molecules that transport nutrients to the cells of the body. Without oxygen, nutrients can’t be assimilated, leaving us nutritionally depleted.

According to the translation of ancient egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, priests and physicians have been using essential oils for thousands of years. they were mankind’s first medicine.

these therapeutic-grade essential oils deliver the positive benefits to the body through small, direct absorption into the skin, and normal digestive process. Cleansing, calming, stimulating, soothing, essential oils bring balance to all systems of the body.

Purity and POtEncy make the difference

there is a significant difference between essential oils that simply smell good and those that are therapeutic-grade. in order to achieve therapeutic-grade classification, each essential oil must achieve the designation naturally, without excess manipulation and refinement, and meet specific criteria in several areas, including the plants they’re sourced from, how they’re prepared, the finalized purity and potency of each oil, and how they’re tested.

Ways tO usE essential oils

1:Aromatic

Aromatic application involves inhaling a fine mist of oil or vapor that has evaporated from the oil. inhalation of

the essential oil is a powerful method to affect memory, hormones, brain function, and emotional health through the olfactory system.one of the best aromatic applications involves using a diffuser, which spreads the essential oil particles into the air, which allows you to inhale them and introduce them into your system. You can rub a few drops on your palms and inhale. You can place a few drops on a cotton ball or handkerchief and inhale. You can also use a humidifier/vaporizer, as well as a fan or vent, to spread the oil particles.

Key Benefits: - Affects mood- Kills bacteria and destroys viruses- Opens airways

6

2:Topical

essential oils can offer effective solutions simply by being applied directly to the skin. the oil particles

are then absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. typically about 1-3 drops is all you need for direct application. if you are going to massage the oils, a carrier oil (such as olive or fractionated coconut oil) should be used. mix 3-10 drops of your desired essential oil with about 1 tablespoon of the carrier oil.

Aromatouch is a technique that applies certain oils along the entire length of the spine and on the feet. it’s a powerful therapy that can help reduce stress, enhance immune function, decrease inflammation, and more. other topical applications include reflexology/reflex therapy, auricular therapy, compresses, and baths.

Key Benefits:- Absorbed into the body through the skin- Full body benefit- Immediate comfort

7

3:Internal

there are several ways to utilize essential oils internally. place 1 to 2 drops under the tongue or mix in a

glass of water and drink. Care should be taken because not all essential oils can be ingested. follow manufacturer guidelines.

Key Benefits:- Mouth and throat benefits- Digestive support- Immune support

HouseholdApplicationsofEssentialOils

there are other ways to enjoy the benefits of essential oils. some of these include household uses:

• Add a few drops of lemon oil to dishwater for clean dishes and a great-smelling kitchen.

• A few drops of an antiseptic oil will kill bacteria and germs in the laundry.

• Add several drops of fir, pine or other oil to a water spray bottle, and use to clean countertops, bathrooms, or kitchen surfaces.

• Some oils are very effective at removing gum, grease and other stains from clothing, carpet or fabrics.

HowDoEssentialOilsAffecttheBrain?

the blood-brain barrier is the membrane between the circulating blood and the brain that prevents certain dangerous substances from reaching brain

9

tissue. it’s largely believed by medical experts that any agent capable of passing through the blood brain barrier could contribute to significant diseases that affect or are affected by the brain, including Alzheimer’s, lou Gehrig’s disease, ms and so forth.

it’s now known that sesquiterpenes—compounds commonly found in essential oils from botanicals—can pass through the blood-brain barrier. it is likely the presence of these sesquiterpenes, and likely other compounds, that give essential oils their profound brain-altering properties.

EssentialOilsAreVerySafe

With essential oils, it is typically more effective to use small amounts frequently rather than large amounts once or twice.

Adults: Most adults can safely use 2-4 drops of oil at a time.

Children: It is typically safe to use 1-2 drops of oil. However, for very young children or those with unusually sensitive skin, dilute the oil in about 1 tsp of fractionated coconut oil. Use this dilution just as you would the oil.
