W Key drove themselves across the country, gathered fans by spreading the word and created a new way of tournament play...from scratch.

ey taught lessons to locals and performed in front of crowds, all to be able to play the game they loved.

For tournaments, these women had to go into venues and play to the crowd.  ey performed tricks and showed off to attract people to the game.  ey couldn’t just be golfers, they had to be politicians and actresses with over the top personalities.  One was the trick shot artist, another the longest hitter, while another was the “glamour girl”.  e “show” worked was the “glamour girl”.  e “show” worked and slowly but surely the women could put down their batons and focus on the game.

A surviving member of the founding 13, Louise was given her nickname by Bob Hope after he witnessed her driving ability. She began playing golf at age 10 in Atlanta and evolved to have a revered golf swing in tempo and form. Louise won 58 tournaments and 8 majors. 8 majors.

A surviving member of the founding 13,known for her enthusiasm & passion to bring people to the game. She was the rst woman in LPGA history to score a Double Eagle. Marilynn is a World Golf Hall of Fame Member.

Patty started playing golf when shewas 13 in Minneapolis and still holds the women’s record for most majors won - 15. She was a lieutenant in the Marine Corps during WWII.

A surviving member of the founding 13, Marlene was the youngest golfer to join the tour at age 16. She began playing golf in Eureka, SD at the age of 3 1/2 years. She won 26 tournaments, 8 of which were won in 1956 alone.

A surviving member of the founding 13.Shirley hailed from Detroit, MI and laterbecame the head pro at Ukiah CC in California. Shirley helped establish the LPGA Teaching Division. She was the LPGA National Teacher of the year...twice.

Babe seemed to do it all. An Olympic track &eld medalist from Port Arthur, TX. She wasdeclared the “Woman Athlete of the Half Century” by the Associated Press. She won a grand slam in 1950 and a total of 82 golftournaments.
