“The Battle of the Bulge”Towards the end of WW II in

the middle of the winter the allied forces seemed to have dominion over Germany. However, Hitler had one last attempt at victory. Hitler strategically planed to attack by surprise the troops west of the Ardennes which Eisenhower had filled with the weakest troops because no one suspected an attack in the thick cold snow.

The Battle of the Bulge Infected by what

Eisenhower called “victory fever” the troops let there guard down. Hitler took advantage of this in what resulted over 80,000 allied casualties. It seemed to many, Germany was regaining control.

The Battle of the Bulge Unexpectedly the

skies cleared and the allies sent their air forces, something Hitler had not anticipated. Germany suffered more than 100,000 casualties and Germany’s supplies were quickly intercepted by the Allied forces which weakened Germany.

After the battle

After much thinking Eisenhower concluded that the Soviets who had sacrificed more land and human life should “wrap things up” . The Soviet Union marched westward toward Berlin crushing everything in their path.

The cleaning.

As Germany realized that they were about to lose the war Himmler, he military Nazi leader, gave instructions to march all Jews to a desolate location where they could be disposed of secretly.

Prisoner Jews marched for miles in the cold without knowing where they were going. Many starved others froze and many were left in the way taken over by fatigue.

Soviet’s Victory

Meanwhile Soviet union made ways into Berlin. For 9 days the Soviets' trashed Berlin street by street killing every German soldier. On May 2, the Soviet Union flag replaced the German flag in Berlin.

Hitler’s fall

Hitler could not bare the thought of losing the war. Hitler along with his mistress Eva committed suicide. Eva took a poison pill that Hitler gave her while Hitler shot himself in the head.
