The creation of man. Prometheus and Epimetheus were both titans, they were ordered by Zeus to create animals because the world was empty, Zeus said that they can make whatever animal they want, but they were forbidden to give them fire. Epimetheus had made birds and gave them wings, he made fish and gave them tails, and he made lions and gave them fur. By the time Epimetheus was done, all the animals were made and all the gifts were given to them. Prometheus wanted to make an animal who was different than all the rest, he made them look like the gods, and he called them Humans. When he was done, he could not find a gift to give them, he saw the humans’ cold in the night and decided to give them fire, disobeying Zeus, he stole some fire from the throne room and gave them to the humans. When Zeus looked at the humans, he saw light, and he knew what Prometheus had done, he then banished Prometheus to be chained to a rock and pecked by birds forever. On their wedding day, Zeus sent Hermes to give the couple a box. He told Hermes to tell them to never open it. Epimetheus accepted the gift and he and Pandora lived happily for many years.

Pandora’s Box

Zeus was still mad at the Humans for accepting the gift, so he made the first woman and called her Pandora. He gave her to Epimetheus as a prize for making the fine animals. On their wedding day, Zeus sent Hermes to give the couple a box. He told Hermes to tell them to never open it. Epimetheus accepted the gift and he and Pandora lived happily for many years.

In the world, there was no sickness or death, no old age or suffering. The world was as peaceful as can be. As the years went, Pandora grew curious about the box “Why would he give us a box if we never could open it?” asked Pandora. “Don’t think about it now, we can never open it. I’m going off to the farms” said Epimetheus.

Pandora sat there, staring at the box, wondering, what could be inside? She finally made her decision. She would only open the box a little, so she could see what was in it. She turned the key in the lock. She wanted to open the box slowly, but when she lifted the lid, it burst open, out came sadness, and pain, suffering and old age. War and anger. And last came death. Pandora shut the lid as tight as she could. She could hear a small voice, saying “Let me out! Let me out!”. “No! I will not let anymore evil out into the world” Pandora yelled “Let me out! If you don’t the world will be in chaos!” Pandora slowly opened the box, and out came a small butterfly, it was hope.
