TheBookofEnoch(alsoknownas1Enoch)wasoncecherishedbyJewsandChristians alike, this book later fell into disfavor with powerful theologians -preciselybecauseofitscontroversialstatementsonthenatureanddeedsofthefallenangels.

TheEnochianwritings,inadditiontomanyotherwritingsthatwereexcluded(orlost)fromtheBible(i.e.,theBookofTobit,Esdras,etc.)werewidelyrecognizedby many of the early church fathers as "Apocryphal" writings. The term"apocrypha" is derived from the Greek word meaning "hidden" or "secret".Originally,theimportofthetermmayhavebeencomplimentaryinthatthetermwas applied to sacred books whose contents were too exalted to be madeavailabletothegeneralpublic.

InDan. 12:9-10we hear ofwords that are shut up until the end of time and,wordsthatthewiseshallunderstandandthewickedshallnot.Inaddition,4Ezra14:44ff.mentions94books,ofwhich24(theOT)weretobepublishedand70were to be delivered only to the wise among the people. Gradually, the term"apocrypha"tookonapejorativeconnotation,fortheorthodoxyofthesehiddenbooks was often questionable. Origen (Comm. in Matt. 10.18; p. 13.881)distinguished between books that were to be read in public worship andapocryphal books. Because these secret books were often preserved for usewithintheesotericcirclesofthedivinely-knitbelievers,manyofthecritically-spiritedor"unenlightened"ChurchFathersfoundthemselvesoutside therealmof understanding, and therefore came to apply the term "apocryphal" to,whattheyclaimedtobe,hereticalworkswhichwereforbiddentoberead.

InProtestantparlance,"theApocrypha"designate15works,allbutoneofwhichareJewishinoriginandfoundintheSeptuagint(partsof2EsdrasareChristianand Latin in origin). Although some of them were composed in Palestine inAramaicorHebrew,theywerenotacceptedintotheJewishcanonformedlateinthe2nd centuryAD (Canonicity, 67:31-35).TheReformers, influencedby the

JewishcanonoftheOldTestament,didnotconsiderthesebooksonaparwiththe rest of the Scriptures; thus the custom arose of making the Apocrypha aseparate section in the Protestant Bible, or sometimes even of omitting thementirely (Canonicity, 67:44-46). TheCatholic view, expressed as a doctrine offaith at the Council of Trent, is that 12 of these 15 works (in a differentenumeration, however) are canonical Scripture; they are called theDeuterocanonicalBooks(Canonicity,67:21,42-43).

ThethreebooksoftheProtestantApocryphathatarenotacceptedbyCatholicsare 1-2Esdras and thePrayer ofManasseh.The themeof theBookofEnochdealing with the nature and deeds of the fallen angels so infuriated the laterChurch fathers that one, Filastrius, actually condemned it openly as heresy(Filastrius, Liber de Haeresibus, no. 108). Nor did the rabbis deign to givecredence to thebook's teaching about angels.RabbiSimeonben Jochai in thesecondcenturyA.D.pronouncedacurseuponthosewhobelievedit(Delitzsch,p. 223). So the book was denounced, banned, cursed, no doubt burned andshredded-andlastbutnotleast,lost(andconvenientlyforgotten)forathousandyears.Butwithanuncannypersistence,theBookofEnochfounditswaybackintocirculationtwocenturiesago.

In1773,rumorsofasurvivingcopyof thebookdrewScottishexplorerJamesBruce to distant Ethiopia. True to hearsay, the Book of Enoch had beenpreservedbytheEthiopicchurch,whichputitrightalongsidetheotherbooksofthe Bible. Bruce secured not one, but three Ethiopic copies of the book andbroughtthembacktoEuropeandBritain.Whenin1821Dr.RichardLaurence,aHebrewprofessoratOxford,producedthefirstEnglishtranslationofthework,themodernworldgaineditsfirstglimpseoftheforbiddenmysteriesofEnoch.

Mostscholarssaythat thepresentformofthestoryintheBookofEnochwaspenned sometimeduring the second centuryB.C. andwaspopular for at leastfivehundredyears.TheearliestEthiopictextwasapparentlymadefromaGreekmanuscriptoftheBookofEnoch,whichitselfwasacopyofanearliertext.TheoriginalwasapparentlywritteninSemiticlanguage,nowthoughttobeAramaic.

Though itwas oncebelieved to be post-Christian (the similarities toChristianterminologyandteachingarestriking),recentdiscoveriesofcopiesofthebookamong the Dead Sea Scrolls found at Qumran prove that the book was inexistence before the time of JesusChrist. But the date of the originalwritinguponwhichthesecondcenturyB.C.Qumrancopieswerebasedisshroudedin

obscurity.Itis,inaword,old.Ithasbeenlargelytheopinionofhistoriansthatthe book does not really contain the authentic words of the ancient biblicalpatriarch Enoch, since hewould have lived (based on the chronologies in theBookofGenesis)severalthousandyearsearlierthanthefirstknownappearanceof the book attributed to him. Although in the book he commands his sonMethuselahtopreservethebookuntofuturegenerations,whichinitselfisacalltocopythebookshewrotesotheymightnotbelosttotheages.

Despiteitsunknownorigins,ChristiansonceacceptedthewordsofthisBookofEnochasauthenticscripture,especiallythepartaboutthefallenangelsandtheirprophesied judgment. In fact,many of the key concepts used by Jesus ChristhimselfseemdirectlyconnectedtotermsandideasintheBookofEnoch.Thus,it ishard toavoid theconclusion thatJesushadnotonlystudied thebook,butalsorespectedithighlyenoughtoadoptandelaborateonitsspecificdescriptionsof thecomingkingdomand its themeof inevitable judgmentdescendingupon"thewicked" - the termmost often used in theOldTestament to describe theWatchers.

There is abundant proof that Christ approved of the Book of Enoch. Over ahundred phrases in theNewTestament find precedents in theBookofEnoch.Another remarkable bit of evidence for the earlyChristians' acceptance of theBook of Enoch was for many years buried under the King James Bible'smistranslationofLuke9:35,describingthetransfigurationofChrist:"Andtherecame a voice out of the cloud, saying, 'This is my beloved Son: hear him."Apparently the translator herewished tomake this verse agreewith a similarverseinMatthewandMark.ButLuke'sverseintheoriginalGreekreads:"ThisismySon,theElectOne(fromtheGreekhoeklelegmenos,lit.,"theelectone"):hearhim."The"ElectOne"isamostsignificantterm(foundfourteentimes)intheBookofEnoch.IfthebookwasindeedknowntotheapostlesofChrist,withits abundant descriptions of theElectOnewho should "sit upon the throneofglory"andtheElectOnewhoshould"dwellinthemidstofthem,"thenthegreatscripturalauthenticityisaccordedtotheBookofEnochwhenthe"voiceoutofthecloud"tellstheapostles,"ThisismySon,theElectOne"-theonepromisedintheBookofEnoch.

The Book of Jude tells us in verse 14 that "Enoch, the seventh from Adam,prophesied..." Jude also, in verse 15,makes a direct reference to theBook ofEnoch(2:1),wherehewrites,"toexecutejudgmentonall,toconvictallwhoareungodly..."ThetimedifferencebetweenEnochandJudeisapproximately3400

years. Therefore, Jude's reference to the Enoch's prophesies strongly leanstowardtheconclusionthatthesewrittenprophesieswereavailabletohimatthattime.

Fragmentsof tenEnochmanuscriptswere foundamong theDeadSeaScrolls.The famous scrolls actually comprise only one part of the total findings atQumran.MuchoftherestwasEnochianliterature,copiesoftheBookofEnoch,andotherapocryphalworksintheEnochiantradition,liketheBookofJubilees.With somany copies around, the Essenes couldwell have used the Enochianwritingsasacommunityprayerbookorteacher'smanualandstudytext.

The Book of Enoch was also used by writers of the non-canonical (i.e.apocryphalor"hidden")texts.TheauthoroftheapocryphalEpistleofBarnabasquotes theBook ofEnoch three times, twice calling it "the Scripture," a termspecificallydenotingtheinspiredWordofGod(Epis.ofBarnabas4:3,16:5,6).Otherapocryphalworksreflectknowledgeof theEnochstoryof theWatchers,notablytheTestamentsoftheTwelvePatriarchsandtheBookofJubilees.

Many of the early church fathers also supported theEnochianwritings. JustinMartyrascribedallevil todemonswhomhealleged tobe theoffspringof theangels who fell through lust for women-directly referencing the Enochianwritings. Athenagoras, writing in his work called Legatio in about 170 A.D.,regardsEnochasa trueprophet.Hedescribes theangelswhich"violatedboththeirownnatureandtheiroffice."Inhiswritings,hegoesintodetailaboutthenatureoffallenangelsandthecauseoftheirfall,whichcomesdirectlyfromtheEnochianwritings.

Manyother church fathers:Tatian (110-172); Irenaeus,Bishop ofLyons (115-185);ClementofAlexandria(150-220);Tertullian(160-230);Origen(186-255);Lactantius (260-330); in addition to: Methodius of Philippi, Minucius Felix,Commodianus, andAmbroseofMilanalso-also approvedof and supported theEnochianwritings.

The twentieth-centurydiscoveryof severalAramaicEnochian texts among theDead Sea Scrolls promptedCatholic scholar J.T.Milik to compile a completehistory of the Enochian writings, including translations of the Aramaicmanuscripts.Milik's400-pagebook,published in1976byOxford(J.T.Milik,ed. and trans., The Books of Enoch: Aramaic Fragments of Qumran Cave 4,Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1976) is a milestone in Enochian scholarship, and

Milikhimselfisnodoubtoneofthefinestexpertsonthesubject.Hisopinions,basedastheyareonyearsofin-depthresearch,arehighlyrespected.

OnebyonetheargumentsagainsttheBookofEnochfadeaway.Thedaymaysoon arrive when the final complaints about the Book of Enoch's lack ofhistoricityand"latedate"arealsosilencedbynewevidenceof thebook's realantiquity.SuchevidencewouldbeperhapsthereturnofEnoch,ofwhomthereisno recordofeverdyingbut rather still living in theKingdomofHeaven. It isappointed unto man once to die, so Enoch has to die once in order for thatScripture tobe fulfilled.Spiritual scholarshaveattributed the fulfilmentof thepropheciesofEnochbeingrevealedinRevelation11ofwhichwefindthereturnof Enoch with a second reprimand of the world for three and a half years.WearingsackclothandperhapswithElijahforcompany-wemayfinallybeabletoaccountofhislifeandtimesafterhearingwhathehastosayinthosedaystocome-untilweseehimfinallydie, laylifelessforthreedaysandthenriseupintotheheavensyetagain.

1 The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect andrighteous,whowillbelivinginthedaysoftribulation,whenallthewickedandgodlessaretoberemoved.

2 And Enoch, a righteousmanwhose eyes were opened byGod took up hisparableandsaid, "I saw thevisionof theHolyOne in theheavens,which theangels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them IunderstoodasIsaw,butnotforthisgeneration,butforaremoteonewhichisfortocome."

3Concerning the elect I said, and tookupmyparable concerning them: "TheHolyGreatOnewillcomeforthfromHisdwelling,

4AndtheeternalGodwilltreadupontheearth,evenonMountSinaiandwillappearinthestrengthofHismightfromtheheavenofheavens.

5AndallshallbesmittenwithfearandtheWatchersshallquake,andgreatfearandtremblingshallseizethemuntotheendsoftheearth.

6Andthehighmountainsshallbeshakenandthehighhillsshallbemadelow,andshallmeltlikewaxbeforetheflame.

7Andtheearthshallbewhollyrentinsunderandallthatisupontheearthshallperish,andthereshallbeajudgementuponall.

8ButwiththerighteousHewillmakepeace.Andwillprotecttheelect,Andmercyshallbeuponthem.AndtheyshallallbelongtoGod,Andtheyshallbeprospered,Andtheyshallallbeblessed.AndHewillhelpthemall,Andlightshallappearuntothem,

Chapter2TheCreation

1Observeyeeverythingthattakesplaceintheheaven,howtheydonotchangetheirorbits,andtheluminarieswhichareintheheaven,howtheyallriseandsetinordereachinitsseason,andtransgressnotagainsttheirappointedorder.

2Beholdyetheearth,andgiveheedtothethingswhichtakeplaceuponitfromfirst to last,howsteadfast theyare,hownoneof the thingsuponearthchange,butalltheworksofGodappeartoyou.Beholdthesummerandthewinter,howthewholeearthisfilledwithwater,andcloudsanddewandrainlieuponit.

3 Observe and see how in the winter all the trees seem as though they hadwitheredandshedalltheirleaves,exceptfourteentrees,whichdonotlosetheirfoliagebutretaintheoldfoliagefromtwotothreeyearstillthenewcomes.

4Andagain,observeyethedaysofsummerhowthesunisabovetheearthoveragainstit.Andyouseekshadeandshelterbyreasonoftheheatofthesun,andtheearthalsoburnswithgrowingheat,andsoyoucannottreadontheearth,oronarockbyreasonofitsheat.

5Observeyehowthe treescover themselveswithgreen leavesandbear fruit:whereforegiveyeheedandknowwith regard toallHisworks, and recognizehowHethatlivethforeverhathmadethemso.

6 And all Hisworks go on thus from year to year for ever, and all the taskswhich they accomplish for Him, and their tasks change not, but according asGodhathordainedsoisitdone.

7AndbeholdhowtheseaandtheriversinlikemanneraccomplishandchangenottheirtasksfromHiscommandments.

8Butyehavenotbeensteadfast,nordonethecommandmentsoftheLord,Butye have turned away and spoken proud and hard words With your impuremouthsagainstHisgreatness.Oh,yehard−hearted,yeshallfindnopeace.

9Thereforeshallyeexecrateyourdays,andtheyearsofyourlifeshallperish,andtheyearsofyourdestructionshallbemultipliedineternalabomination,andyeshallfindnomercy.

10Inthosedaysyeshallmakeyournamesaneternalabominationuntoalltherighteous,andbyyoushallallwhocurse,curse.Allthesinnersandgodlessshallimprecatebyyou.Andforyou,thegodlessthereshallbeacurse."

11Andalltherighteousshallrejoice,andthereshallbeforgivenessofsins,andeverymercyandpeaceandforbearance.

12Thereshallbesalvationuntothem,agoodlylight.

13And for all of you sinners there shall be no salvation but on you all shallabidethecurseofthebeast.

14Butfortheelectthereshallbelightandjoyandpeace,andtheyshallinherittheearth.

15Andthen thereshallbebestowedupontheelectwisdom,and theyshallallliveandnever again sin either throughungodlinessor throughpride:But theywhoarewiseshallbehumble.

16Andtheyshallnotagaintransgress,norshalltheysinallthedaysoftheirlife,norshall theydieofangerorwrathbut theyshallcomplete thenumberof thedaysoftheirlife.

17Andtheirlivesshallbeincreasedinpeace,andtheyearsoftheirjoyshallbemultipliedineternalgladnessandpeaceallthedaysoftheirlife.

Chapter3FallenAngels

1Anditcametopasswhenthechildrenofmenhadmultipliedthatinthosedayswerebornuntothembeautifulandcomelydaughters.

2Andtheangels,thechildrenoftheheaven,sawandlustedafterthem,andsaidtooneanother:"Come,letuschooseuswivesfromamongthechildrenofmenandbegetuschildren."

3AndSemjaza,whowastheirleader,saiduntothem:"Ifearyewillnotindeedagreetodothisdeed,andIaloneshallhavetopaythepenaltyofagreatsin."

4Andtheyallansweredhimandsaid:"Letusallswearanoath,andallbindourselvesbymutualimprecationsnottoabandonthisplanbuttodothisthing."

5Thenswaretheyalltogetherandboundthemselvesbymutualimprecationsuponit.Andtheywereinalltwohundred;whodescendedinthedaysofJaredonthesummitofMountHermon,andtheycalleditMountHermon,becausetheyhadswornandboundthemselvesbymutualimprecationsuponit.

6Andthesearethenamesoftheirleaders:Samlazaz,theirleader,Araklba,Rameel,Kokablel,Tamlel,Ramlel,Danel,Ezeqeel,Baraqijal,Asael,Armaros,Batarel,Ananel,Zaqlel,Samsapeel,Satarel,Turel,Jomjael,Sariel.Thesearetheirchiefsoftens.

7Andalltheotherstogetherwiththemtookuntothemselveswives,andeachchoseforhimselfone,andtheybegantogoinuntothemandtodefilethemselveswiththem.

8Andtheytaughtthemcharmsandenchantments,andthecuttingofroots,andmadethemacquaintedwithplants.

9Andtheybecamepregnant,andtheybaregreatgiants,whoseheightwasthreethousandells:Whoconsumedalltheacquisitionsofmen.Andwhenmencouldnolongersustainthem,thegiantsturnedagainstthemanddevouredmankind.

10Andtheybegantosinagainstbirds,andbeasts,andreptiles,andfish,andtodevouroneanother'sflesh,anddrinktheblood.Thentheearthlaidaccusationagainstthelawlessones.

11AndAzazeltaughtmentomakeswords,andknives,andshields,andbreastplates,andmadeknowntothemthemetalsoftheearthandtheartofworkingthem,andbracelets,andornaments,andtheuseofantimony,andthebeautifyingoftheeyelids,andallkindsofcostlystones,andallcolouringtinctures.

12Andtherearosemuchgodlessness,andtheycommittedfornication,andtheywereledastray,andbecamecorruptinalltheirways.

13Semjazataughtenchantmentsandroot−cuttings,Armarostheresolvingofenchantments,Baraqijaltaughtastrology,Kokabeltheconstellations,Ezeqeeltheknowledgeoftheclouds,Araqielthesignsoftheearth,Shamsielthesignsofthesun,andSarielthecourseofthemoon.

14Andasmenperished,theycried,andtheircrywentuptoheaven.

Chapter4IntercessionofAngels

1AndthenMichael,Uriel,Raphael,andGabriellookeddownfromheavenandsawmuchbloodbeingshedupontheearth,andalllawlessnessbeingwroughtupontheearth.

2Andtheysaidonetoanother,"Theearthmadewithoutinhabitantcriesthevoiceoftheircryingstuptothegatesofheaven."

3Andnowtoyou,theholyonesofheaven,thesoulsofmenmaketheirsuit,saying,"BringourcausebeforetheMostHigh."

4AndtheysaidtotheLordoftheages,"Lordoflords,Godofgods,Kingofkings,andGodoftheages,thethroneofThyglorystandethuntoallthegenerationsoftheages,andThynameholyandgloriousandblesseduntoalltheages!Thouhastmadeallthings,andpoweroverallthingshastThou,andallthingsarenakedandopeninThysight,andThouseestallthings,andnothingcanhideitselffromThee.

5ThouseestwhatAzazelhathdone,whohathtaughtallunrighteousnessonearthandrevealedtheeternalsecretswhichwereinheaven,whichmenwerestrivingtolearn;andSamlazaz,towhomThouhastgivenauthoritytobearruleoverhisassociates.

6Andtheyhavegonetothedaughtersofmenupontheearth,andhavesleptwiththewomen,andhavedefiledthemselves,andrevealedtothemallkindsofsins.Andthewomenhavebornegiants,andthewholeearthhastherebybeenfilledwithbloodandunrighteousness.

7Andnow,behold,thesoulsofthosewhohavediedarecryingoutmakingtheirsuittothegatesofheaven,andtheirlamentationshaveascendedandcannotceasebecauseofthelawlessdeedswhicharewroughtontheearth.

8AndThouknowestallthingsbeforetheycometopass,andThouseestthesethingsandThoudostsufferthem,andThoudostnotsaytouswhatwearetodo

totheminregardtothese."

9ThensaidtheMostHigh,theHolyandGreatOnespake,andsentUrieltothesonofLamechandsaidtohim,"GotoNoahandtellhiminmyname'Hidethyself!'andrevealtohimtheendthatisapproaching,thatthewholeearthwillbedestroyed,andadelugeisabouttocomeuponthewholeearth,andwilldestroyallthatisonit.Andnowinstructhimthathemayescapeandhisseedmaybepreservedforallthegenerationsoftheworld."

10AndagaintheLordsaidtoRaphael,"BindAzazelhandandfoot,andcasthimintothedarkness:andmakeanopeninginthedesert,whichisinDudael,andcasthimtherein.Andplaceuponhimroughandjaggedrocks,andcoverhimwithdarkness,andlethimabidethereforever,andcoverhisfacethathemaynotseelight.Andonthedayofthegreatjudgementheshallbecastintothefire.

11Andhealtheearthwhichtheangelshavecorrupted,andproclaimthehealingoftheearth,thattheymayhealtheplague,andthatallthechildrenofmenmaynotperishthroughallthesecretthingsthattheWatchershavedisclosedandhavetaughttheirsons.AndthewholeearthhasbeencorruptedthroughtheworksthatweretaughtbyAzazel,tohimascribeallsin."

12AndtoGabrielsaidtheLord,"Proceedagainstthebastardsandthereprobates,andagainstthechildrenoffornicationanddestroythechildrenoftheWatchersfromamongstmen.Sendthemoneagainsttheotherthattheymaydestroyeachotherinbattle,forlengthofdaysshalltheynothave.Andnorequestthattheymakeoftheeshallbegranteduntotheirfathersontheirbehalf;fortheyhopetoliveaneternallife,andthateachoneofthemwilllivefivehundredyears."

13AndtheLordsaiduntoMichael,"Go,bindSamlazazandhisassociateswhohaveunitedthemselveswithwomensoastohavedefiledthemselveswiththeminalltheiruncleanness.Andwhentheirsonshaveslainoneanother,andtheyhaveseenthedestructionoftheirbelovedones,bindthemfastforseventygenerationsinthevalleysoftheearth,tillthedayoftheirjudgementandoftheirconsummation,tillthejudgementthatisforeverandeverisconsummated.Inthosedaystheyshallbeledofftotheabyssoffireandtothetormentandtheprisoninwhichtheyshallbeconfinedforever.

14Andwhosoevershallbecondemnedanddestroyedwillfromthenceforthbeboundtogetherwiththemtotheendofallgenerations.anddestroyallthespiritsofthereprobateandthechildrenoftheWatchersbecausetheyhavewrongedmankind.

15Destroyallwrongfromthefaceoftheearthandleteveryevilworkcometoanend,andlettheplantofrighteousnessandtruthappear,anditshallproveablessing;theworksofrighteousnessandtruthshallbeplantedintruthandjoyforevermore.

16Andthenshallalltherighteousescapeandshalllivetilltheybegetthousandsofchildren,andallthedaysoftheiryouthandtheiroldageshalltheycompleteinpeace.

17Andthenshallthewholeearthbetilledinrighteousness,andshallallbeplantedwithtreesandbefullofblessing.

18Andalldesirabletreesshallbeplantedonit,andtheyshallplantvinesonitandthevinewhichtheyplantthereonshallyieldwineinabundance,andasforalltheseedwhichissownthereoneachmeasureshallbearathousand,andeachmeasureofolivesshallyieldtenpressesofoil.

19Andcleansethoutheearthfromalloppression,andfromallunrighteousness,andfromallsin,andfromallgodlessness,andalltheuncleannessthatiswroughtupontheearthdestroyfromofftheearth.

20Andallthechildrenofmenshallbecomerighteous,andallnationsshallofferadorationandshallpraiseMe,andallshallworshipMe.Andtheearthshallbecleansedfromalldefilement,andfromallsin,andfromallpunishment,andfromalltorment,andIwillneveragainsenduponitfromgenerationtogenerationandforever.

21AndinthosedaysIwillopenthestorechambersofblessingwhichareintheheaven,soastosendthemdownupontheearthovertheworkandlabourofthechildrenofmen.Andtruthandpeaceshallbeassociatedtogetherthroughoutallthedaysoftheworldandthroughoutallthegenerationsofmen."

22BeforethesethingsEnochwashidden,andnooneofthechildrenofmenknewwherehewashidden,andwhereheabode,andwhathadbecomeofhim.

AndhisactivitieshadtodowiththeWatchers,andhisdayswerewiththeholyones.

23AndIEnochwasblessingtheLordofMajestyandtheKingoftheages,andlo!theWatcherscalledme,Enochthescribe,andsaidtome:"Enoch,thouscribeofrighteousness,go,declaretotheWatchersoftheheavenwhohaveleftthehighheaven,theholyeternalplace,andhavedefiledthemselveswithwomen,andhavedoneasthechildrenofearthdo,andhavetakenuntothemselveswives.

24Saytothem:'Yehavewroughtgreatdestructionontheearthandyeshallhavenopeacenorforgivenessofsin.'

25Andinasmuchastheydelightthemselvesintheirchildrenthemurderoftheirbelovedonesshalltheysee,andoverthedestructionoftheirchildrenshalltheylament,andshallmakesupplicationuntoeternity,butmercyandpeaceshallyenotattain."

26AndEnochwentandsaid:"Azazel,thoushalthavenopeace,aseveresentencehasgoneforthagainsttheetoputtheeinbondsandthoushaltnothavetolerationnorrequestgrantedtothee,becauseoftheunrighteousnesswhichthouhasttaught,andbecauseofalltheworksofgodlessnessandunrighteousnessandsinwhichthouhastshowntomen."

27ThenIwentandspoketothemalltogether,andtheywereallafraid,andfearandtremblingseizedthem.Andtheybesoughtmetodrawupapetitionforthemthattheymightfindforgiveness,andtoreadtheirpetitioninthepresenceoftheLordofheaven.

28ForfromthenceforwardtheycouldnotspeakwithHimnorliftuptheireyestoheavenforshameoftheirsinsforwhichtheyhadbeencondemned.

29ThenIwroteouttheirpetition,andtheprayerinregardtotheirspiritsandtheirdeedsindividuallyandinregardtotheirrequeststhattheyshouldhaveforgivenessandlength.

30AndIwentoffandsatdownatthewatersofDan,inthelandofDan,tothesouthofthewestofHermon,IreadtheirpetitiontillIfellasleep.

2WhatIwillnowsaywithatongueoffleshandwiththebreathofmymouth,whichtheGreatOnehasgiventomentoconversetherewithandunderstandwiththeheart.

3AsHehascreatedandgiventomanthepowerofunderstandingthewordofwisdom,sohathHecreatedmealsoandgivenmethepowerofreprimandingtheWatchers,thechildrenofheaven.

4"Iwroteoutyourpetition,andinmyvisionitappearedthus,thatyourpetitionwillnotbegranteduntoyouthroughoutallthedaysofeternity,andthatjudgementhasbeenfinallypasseduponyou.

5Yourpetitionwillnotbegranteduntoyou.Andfromhenceforthyoushallnotascendintoheavenuntoalleternity,andinbondsoftheearththedecreehasgoneforthtobindyouforallthedaysoftheworld.

10AndIwentintothetonguesoffireanddrewnightoalargehousewhichwasbuiltofcrystalsandthewallsofthehousewerelikeatesselatedfloormadeofcrystals,anditsgroundworkwasofcrystal.

11Itsceilingwaslikethepathofthestarsandthelightnings,andbetweenthemwerefierycherubim,andtheirheavenwaswater.

12Aflamingfiresurroundedthewalls,anditsportalsblazedwithfire.

13AndIenteredintothathouse,anditwashotasfireandcoldasice.Therewerenodelightsoflifetherein;fearcoveredme,andtremblinggotholduponme.

14AndasIquakedandtrembled,IfelluponmyfaceandIbeheldavision,andlo!therewasasecondhouse,greaterthantheformer,andtheentireportalstoodopenbeforeme,anditwasbuiltofflamesoffire.

15AndineveryrespectitsoexcelledinsplendorandmagnificenceandextentthatIcannotdescribetoyouitssplendoranditsextent.

16Anditsfloorwasoffire,andaboveitwerelightningsandthepathofthestars,anditsceilingalsowasflamingfire.AndIlookedandsawthereinaloftythrone,itsappearancewasascrystal,andthewheelsthereofastheshiningsun,andtherewasthevisionofcherubim.

17AndfromunderneaththethronecamestreamsofflamingfiresothatIcouldnotlookthereon.

18AndtheGreatGlorysatthereon,andHisraimentshonemorebrightlythanthesunandwaswhiterthananysnow.

19NoneoftheangelscouldenterandcouldbeholdHisfacebyreasonofthemagnificenceandgloryandnofleshcouldbeholdHim.

20TheflamingfirewasroundaboutHim,andagreatfirestoodbeforeHim,andnonearoundcoulddrawnighHim;tenthousandtimestenthousandwerebeforeHim,yetHeneedednocounselor.

21AndthemostholyoneswhowerenightoHimdidnotleavebynightnordepartfromHim.AnduntilthenIhadbeenprostrateonmyface,tremblingandtheLordcalledmewithHisownmouth,andsaidtome:"Comehither,Enoch,andhearmyword."

22Andoneoftheholyonescametomeandwakedme,andHemademeriseupandapproachthedoor,andIbowedmyfacedownwards.

23AndHeansweredandsaidtome,andIheardHisvoice:"Fearnot,Enoch,thourighteousmanandscribeofrighteousness.Approachhitherandhearmyvoice.

24Andgo,saytotheWatchersofheaven,whohavesenttheetointercedeforthem:'Youshouldintercedeformen,andnotmenforyou.Whereforehaveyeleftthehigh,holy,andeternalheaven,andlainwithwomen,anddefiledyourselveswiththedaughtersofmenandtakentoyourselveswives,anddonelikethechildrenofearth,andbegottengiantsasyoursons.

25Andthoughyewereholy,spiritual,livingtheeternallife,youhavedefiledyourselveswiththebloodofwomen,andhavebegottenwiththebloodofflesh,and,asthechildrenofmen,havelustedafterfleshandbloodasthosealsodowhodieandperish.

26ThereforehaveIgiventhemwivesalsothattheymightimpregnatethem,andbegetchildrenbythem,thatthusnothingmightbewantingtothemonearth.

27Butyouwereformerlyspiritual,livingtheeternallife,andimmortalforallgenerationsoftheworld.AndthereforeIhavenotappointedwivesforyou;forasforthespiritualonesoftheheaven,inheavenistheirdwelling.

28Andnow,thegiants,whoareproducedfromthespiritsandflesh,shallbecalledevilspiritsupontheearth,andontheearthshallbetheirdwelling.

29Evilspiritshaveproceededfromtheirbodies;becausetheyarebornfrommenandfromtheWatchersistheirbeginningandprimalorigin;theyshallbeevilspiritsonearth,andevilspiritsshalltheybecalled.

30Andthespiritsofthegiantsafflict,oppress,destroy,attack,dobattle,and

workdestructionontheearth,andcausetrouble.Theytakenofood,butneverthelesshungerandthirst,andcauseoffences.

31Andthesespiritsshallriseupagainstthechildrenofmenandagainstthewomen,becausetheyhaveproceededfromthem.

32Fromthedaysoftheslaughteranddestructionanddeathofthegiants,fromthesoulsofwhosefleshthespirits,havinggoneforth,shalldestroywithoutincurringjudgement,thusshalltheydestroyuntilthedayoftheconsummation,thegreatjudgementinwhichtheageshallbeconsummated,overtheWatchersandthegodless,yea,shallbewhollyconsummated.

2Andtheybroughtmetotheplaceofdarkness,andtoamountainthepointofwhosesummitreachedtoheaven.

3AndIsawtheplacesoftheluminariesandthetreasuriesofthestarsandofthethunderandintheuttermostdepths,wherewereafierybowandarrowsandtheirquiver,andafieryswordandallthelightnings.

4Andtheytookmetothelivingwaters,andtothefireofthewest,whichreceiveseverysettingofthesun.

5AndIcametoariveroffireinwhichthefireflowslikewateranddischargesitselfintothegreatseatowardsthewest.

6Isawthegreatriversandcametothegreatriverandtothegreatdarkness,andwenttotheplacewherenofleshwalks.Isawthemountainsofthedarknessofwinterandtheplacewhenceallthewatersofthedeepflow.

7Isawthemouthsofalltheriversoftheearthandthemouthofthedeep.

8Isawthetreasuriesofallthewinds,IsawhowHehadfurnishedwiththemthewholecreationandthefirmfoundationsoftheearth.

9AndIsawthecorner−stoneoftheearth,Isawthefourwindswhichbearthefirmamentoftheheaven.

10AndIsawhowthewindsstretchoutthevaultsofheaven,andhavetheirstationbetweenheavenandearth:thesearethepillarsoftheheaven.

11Isawthewindsofheavenwhichturnandbringthecircumferenceofthesunandallthestarstotheirsetting.

12Isawthewindsontheearthcarryingtheclouds:Isawthepathsoftheangels.

13IsawattheendoftheearththefirmamentoftheheavenaboveandIproceededandsawaplacewhichburnsdayandnight,wheretherearesevenmountainsofmagnificentstones.

14Threetowardstheeast,andthreetowardsthesouth.Andasforthosetowardstheeast,wasofcolouredstone,andoneofpearl,andoneofjacinth,andthosetowardsthesouthofredstone.

15ButthemiddleonereachedtoheavenlikethethroneofGod,ofalabaster,andthesummitofthethronewasofsapphire.

16AndIsawaflamingfire.Andbeyondthesemountainsisaregiontheendofthegreatearth:theretheheavenswerecompleted.

17AndIsawadeepabyss,withcolumnsofheavenlyfire,andamongthemIsawcolumnsoffirefall,whichwerebeyondmeasurealiketowardstheheightandtowardsthedepth.

18AndbeyondthatabyssIsawaplacewhichhadnofirmamentoftheheavenabove,andnofirmlyfoundedearthbeneathit:therewasnowateruponit,andnobirds,butitwasawasteandhorribleplace.

19Isawtheresevenstarslikegreatburningmountains,andtome,whenIinquiredregardingthem.Theangelsaid:"Thisplaceistheendofheavenandearth.Thishasbecomeaprisonforthestarsandthehostofheaven.

20AndthestarswhichrolloverthefirearetheywhichhavetransgressedthecommandmentoftheLordinthebeginningoftheirrising,becausetheydidnotcomeforthattheirappointedtimes.

21AndHewaswrothwiththem,andboundthemtillthetimewhentheirguiltshouldbeconsummatedfortenthousandyears."

22AndUrielsaidtome:"Hereshallstandtheangelswhohaveconnectedthemselveswithwomen,andtheirspiritsassumingmanydifferentformsaredefilingmankindandshallleadthemastrayintosacrificingtodemonsasgods.

23Hereshalltheystand,tillthedayofthegreatjudgementinwhichtheyshallbejudgedtilltheyaremadeanendof.Andthewomenalsooftheangelswhowentastrayshallbecomesirens."

13AndfromthenceIwenttoanotherplace,whichwasstillmorehorriblethantheformer,andIsawahorriblething.Agreatfiretherewhichburntandblazed,andtheplacewascleftasfarastheabyss,beingfullofgreatdescendingcolumnsoffire.NeitheritsextentormagnitudecouldIsee,norcouldIconjecture.

14ThenIsaid:"Howfearfulistheplaceandhowterribletolookupon!"

15ThenUrielansweredme,oneoftheholyangelswhowaswithme,andsaiduntome:"Enoch,whyhastthousuchfearandaffright?"

16AndIanswered:"Becauseofthisfearfulplace,andbecauseofthespectacleofthepain."

17Andhesaiduntome:"Thisplaceistheprisonoftheangels,andheretheywillbeimprisonedforever."

18AndthenceIwenttoanotherplace,themountainofhardrock.

19Andtherewasinitfourhollowplaces,deepandwideandverysmooth.Howsmootharethehollowplacesanddeepanddarktolookat.

20ThenRaphaelanswered,oneoftheholyangelswhowaswithme,andsaiduntome:"Thesehollowplaceshavebeencreatedforthisverypurpose,thatthespiritsofthesoulsofthedeadshouldassembletherein,yeathatallthesoulsofthechildrenofmenshouldassemblehere.Andtheseplaceshavebeenmadetoreceivethemtillthedayoftheirjudgementandtilltheirappointedperiod,tillthegreatjudgementuponthem."

21Isawadeadmanmakingsuit,andhisvoicewentforthtoheavenandmadesuit.AndIaskedRaphaeltheangelwhowaswithme,andIsaiduntohim:"Thisspiritwhichmakethsuit,whoseisit,whosevoicegoethforthandmakethsuittoheaven?"

22Andheansweredmesaying:"ThisisthespiritwhichwentforthfromAbel,whomhisbrotherCainslew,andhemakeshissuitagainsthimtillhisseedis

destroyedfromthefaceoftheearth,andhisseedisannihilatedfromamongsttheseedofmen."

23TheIaskedregardingit,andregardingallthehollowplaces:"Whyisoneseparatedfromtheother?"

24Andheansweredmeandsaiduntome:"Thesethreehavebeenmadethatthespiritsofthedeadmightbeseparated.Andsuchadivisionhasbeenmakeforthespiritsoftherighteous,inwhichthereisthebrightspringofwater.Andsuchhasbeenmadeforsinnerswhentheydieandareburiedintheearthandjudgementhasnotbeenexecutedonthemintheirlifetime.

25Heretheirspiritsshallbesetapartinthisgreatpaintillthegreatdayofjudgementandpunishmentandtormentofthosewhocurseforeverandretributionfortheirspirits.ThereHeshallbindthemforever.Andsuchadivisionhasbeenmadeforthespiritsofthosewhomaketheirsuit,whomakedisclosuresconcerningtheirdestruction,whentheywereslaininthedaysofthesinners.

26Suchhasbeenmadeforthespiritsofmenwhowerenotrighteousbutsinners,whowerecompleteintransgression,andofthetransgressorstheyshallbecompanionsbuttheirspiritsshallnotbeslaininthedayofjudgementnorshalltheyberaisedfromthence."

27TheIblessedtheLordofgloryandsaid:"BlessedbemyLord,theLordofrighteousness,whorulethforever."

28FromthenceIwenttoanotherplacetothewestoftheendsoftheearth.AndIsawaburningfirewhichranwithoutresting,andpausednotfromitscoursedayornightbutregularly.

29AndIaskedsaying:"Whatisthiswhichrestsnot?"

30ThenRaguel,oneoftheholyangelswhowaswithme,answeredmeandsaiduntome:"Thiscourseoffirewhichthouhastseenisthefireinthewestwhichpersecutesalltheluminariesofheaven."

31AndfromthenceIwenttoanotherplaceoftheearth,andheshowedmeamountainrangeoffirewhichburntdayandnight.

33Andtheseventhmountainwasinthemidstofthese,anditexcelledtheminheight,resemblingtheseatofathrone:andfragranttreesencircledthethrone.

34AndamongstthemwasatreesuchasIhadneveryetsmelt,neitherwasanyamongstthemnorwereotherslikeit:ithadafragrancebeyondallfragrance,anditsleavesandbloomsandwoodwithernotforever:anditsfruitisbeautiful,anditsfruitresemblesthedatesofapalm.

35ThenIsaid:"Howbeautifulisthistree,andfragrant,anditsleavesarefair,anditsbloomsverydelightfulinappearance."

36ThenansweredMichael,oneoftheholyandhonoredangelswhowaswithme,andwastheirleader.

37Andhesaiduntome:"Enoch,whydostthouaskmeregardingthefragranceofthetree,andwhydostthouwishtolearnthetruth?"

38ThenIansweredhimsaying:"Iwishtoknowabouteverything,butespeciallyaboutthistree."

39Andheansweredsaying:"Thishighmountainwhichthouhastseen,whosesummitislikethethroneofGod,isHisthrone,wheretheHolyGreatOne,theLordofGlory,theEternalKing,willsit,whenHeshallcomedowntovisittheearthwithgoodness.Andasforthisfragranttreenomortalispermittedtotouchittillthegreatjudgement,whenHeshalltakevengeanceonallandbringtoitsconsummationforever.Itshallthenbegiventotherighteousandholy.Itsfruitshallbeforfoodtotheelect:itshallbetransplantedtotheholyplace,tothetempleoftheLord,theEternalKing.

40Thenshalltheyrejoicewithjoyandbeglad,andintotheholyplaceshalltheyenter;anditsfragranceshallbeintheirbones,andtheyshalllivealonglifeonearth.Suchasthyfatherslived;andintheirdaysshallnosorroworplagueor

tormentorcalamitytouchthem."

41ThenblessedItheGodofGlory,theEternalKing,whohathpreparedsuchthingsfortherighteous,andhathcreatedthemandpromisedtogivetothem.

42AndIwentfromthencetothemiddleoftheearth,andIsawablessedplaceinwhichthereweretreeswithbranchesabidingandblooming.

43AndthereIsawaholymountain,andunderneaththemountaintotheeasttherewasastreamanditflowedtowardsthesouth.AndIsawtowardstheeastanothermountainhigherthanthis,andbetweenthemadeepandnarrowravine:initalsoranastreamunderneaththemountain.

44Andtothewestthereoftherewasanothermountain,lowerthantheformerandofsmallelevation,andaravinedeepanddrybetweenthem:andanotherdeepanddryravinewasattheextremitiesofthethreemountains.

45Andalltheravinesweredeepandnarrow,ofhardrock,andtreeswerenotplanteduponthem.AndImarveledattherocks,andImarveledattheravine,yea,Imarveledverymuch.

46ThensaidI:"Forwhatobjectisthisblessedland,whichisentirelyfilledwithtrees,andthisaccursedvalleybetween?"

47ThenUriel,oneoftheholyangelswhowaswithme,answeredandsaid:"Thisaccursedvalleyisforthosewhoareaccursedforever.HereshallalltheaccursedbegatheredtogetherwhoutterwiththeirlipsagainsttheLordunseemlywordsandofHisgloryspeakhardthings.Hereshalltheybegatheredtogether,andhereshallbetheirplaceofjudgement.

48Inthelastdaysthereshallbeuponthemthespectacleofrighteousjudgementinthepresenceoftherighteousforever:hereshallthemercifulblesstheLordofglory,theEternalKing.Inthedaysofjudgementovertheformer,theyshallblessHimforthemercyinaccordancewithwhichHehasassignedthem."

51AndthenceIwenttoanotherplaceinthedesert,andapproachedtotheeastofthismountainrange.AndthereIsawaromatictreesexhalingthefragranceoffrankincenseandmyrrh,andthetreesalsoweresimilartothealmondtree.

52Andbeyondthese,Iwentafartotheeast,andIsawanotherplace,avalleyofwater.Andthereintherewasatree,thecoloroffragranttreessuchasthemastic.AndonthesidesofthosevalleysIsawfragrantcinnamon.AndbeyondtheseIproceededtotheeast.

53AndIsawothermountains,andamongstthemweregrovesoftrees,andthereflowedforthfromthemnectar,whichisnamedsararaandgalbanum.AndbeyondthesemountainsIsawanothermountaintotheeastoftheendsoftheearth,whereonwerealoe−trees,andallthetreeswerefullofstacte,beinglikealmond−trees.Andwhenoneburntit,itsmeltsweeterthananyfragrantodour.

54Andafterthesefragrantodours,asIlookedtowardsthenorthoverthemountainsIsawsevenmountainsfullofchoicenardandfragranttreesandcinnamonandpepper.

55AndthenceIwentoverthesummitsofallthesemountains,fartowardstheeastoftheearth,andpassedabovetheErythraeanseaandwentfarfromit,andpassedovertheangelZotiel.

56AndIcametotheGardenofRighteousness,andfromafaroffIsawnumeroustrees,andthesegreat−twotreesthere,verygreat,beautiful,andglorious,andmagnificent,andtheTreeofKnowledge,whoseholyfruittheyeatandknowgreatwisdom.

57Thattreeisinheightlikethestranglerfig,anditsleavesareliketheCarobtree,anditsfruitisliketheclustersofthevine,verybeautiful:andthefragranceofthetreepenetratesafar.

58ThenIsaid:"Howbeautifulisthetree,andhowattractiveisitslook!"

59ThenRaphaeltheholyangel,whowaswithme,answeredmeandsaid:"This

64AndhereIsawthreeportalsofheavenopenintheheaven:througheachofthemproceednorthwinds:whentheyblowthereiscold,hail,frost,snow,dew,andrain.Andoutofoneportaltheyblowforgood:butwhentheyblowthroughtheothertwoportals,itiswithviolenceandafflictionontheearth,andtheyblowwithviolence.

65AndfromthenceIwenttowardsthewesttotheendsoftheearth,andsawtherethreeportalsoftheheavenopensuchasIhadseenintheeast,thesamenumberofportals,andthesamenumberofoutlets.

2AndthisisthebeginningofthewordsofwisdomwhichIliftedupmyvoicetospeakandsaytothosewhichdwellonearth:"Hear,yemenofoldtime,andsee,yethatcomeafter,thewordsoftheHolyOnewhichIwillspeakbeforetheLordofSpirits.Itwerebettertodeclaretothemenofoldtimes,butevenfromthosethatcomeafterwewillnotwithholdthebeginningofwisdom."

3TillthepresentdaysuchwisdomhasneverbeengivenbytheLordofSpiritsasIhavereceivedaccordingtomyinsight,accordingtothegoodpleasureoftheLordofSpiritsbywhomthelotofeternallifehasbeengiventome.NowthreeParableswereimpartedtome,andIliftedupmyvoiceandrecountedthemtothosethatdwellontheearth.

4ThefirstParable.Whenthecongregationoftherighteousshallappear,andsinnersshallbejudgedfortheirsins,andshallbedrivenfromthefaceoftheearth:

5AndwhentheRighteousOneshallappearbeforetheeyesoftherighteous,whoseelectworkshangupontheLordofSpirits,andlightshallappeartotherighteousandtheelectwhodwellontheearth,wherethenwillbethedwellingofthesinners,andwheretheresting−placeofthosewhohavedeniedtheLordofSpirits?Ithadbeengoodforthemiftheyhadnotbeenborn.

6Whenthesecretsoftherighteousshallberevealedandthesinnersjudged,andthegodlessdrivenfromthepresenceoftherighteousandelect.

7Fromthattimethosethatpossesstheearthshallnolongerbepowerfulandexalted:Andtheyshallnotbeabletobeholdthefaceoftheholy,fortheLordofSpiritshascausedHislighttoappearonthefaceoftheholy,righteous,andelect.

8Thenshallthekingsandthemightyperishandbegivenintothehandsoftherighteousandholy.

9AndthenceforwardnoneshallseekforthemselvesmercyfromtheLordofSpiritsfortheirlifeisatanend.

10Anditshallcometopassinthosedaysthatelectandholychildrenwilldescendfromthehighheaven,andtheirseedwillbecomeonewiththechildrenofmen.

11AndinthosedaysEnochreceivedbooksofzealandwrath,andbooksofdisquietandexpulsion.

12Andmercyshallnotbeaccordedtothem,saiththeLordofSpirits.

13Andinthosedaysawhirlwindcarriedmeofffromtheearth,andsetmedownattheendoftheheavens.

14AndthereIsawanothervision,thedwelling−placesoftheholy,andtheresting−placesoftherighteous.

15HeremineeyessawtheirdwellingswithHisrighteousangelsandtheirrestingplaceswiththeholy.

16Andtheypetitionedandintercededandprayedforthechildrenofmen,andrighteousnessflowedbeforethemaswater,andmercylikedewupontheearth:Thusitisamongstthemforeverandever.

17AndinthatplacemineeyessawtheElectOneofrighteousnessandoffaith,andIsawhisdwelling−placeunderthewingsoftheLordofSpirits.

18Andrighteousnessshallprevailinhisdays,andtherighteousandelectshallbewithoutnumberbeforeHimforeverandever.

39AndIsawthechambersofthesunandmoon,whencetheyproceedandwhithertheycomeagain,andtheirgloriousreturn,andhowoneissuperiortotheother,andtheirstatelyorbit,andhowtheydonotleavetheirorbit,andtheyaddnothingtotheirorbitandtheytakenothingfromit,andtheykeepfaithwitheachother,inaccordancewiththeoathbywhichtheyareboundtogether.

40AndfirstthesungoesforthandtraverseshispathaccordingtothecommandmentoftheLordofSpirits,andmightyisHisnameforeverandever.

45Wisdomfoundnoplacewhereshemightdwell,thenadwelling−placewasassignedherintheheavens.

46Wisdomwentforthtomakeherdwellingamongthechildrenofmenandfoundnodwelling−place.

47Wisdomreturnedtoherplaceandtookherseatamongtheangels.

48Andunrighteousnesswentforthfromherchambers:Whomshesoughtnotshefoundanddweltwiththem,asraininadesertanddewonathirstyland.

49AndIsawotherlightningsandthestarsofheaven,andIsawhowHecalledthemallbytheirnamesandtheyhearkeneduntoHim.

50AndIsawhowtheyareweighedinarighteousbalanceaccordingtotheirproportionsoflight:thewidthoftheirspacesandthedayoftheirappearing,andhowtheirrevolutionproduceslightning:andtheirrevolutionaccordingtothenumberoftheangels,andtheykeepfaithwitheachother.

1AndthisisthesecondParableconcerningthosewhodenythenameofthedwellingoftheholyonesandtheLordofSpirits.

2Andintotheheaventheyshallnotascend,andontheearththeyshallnotcome.SuchshallbethelotofthesinnerswhohavedeniedthenameoftheLordofSpirits.Whoarethuspreservedforthedayofsufferingandtribulation.

3OnthatdayMineElectOneshallsitonthethroneofgloryandshalltrytheirworks,andtheirplacesofrestshallbeinnumerable.AndtheirsoulsshallgrowstrongwithinthemwhentheyseeMineElectOnes.

4AndthosewhohavecalleduponMygloriousname:ThenwillIcauseMineElectOnetodwellamongthem.

5AndIwilltransformtheheavenandmakeitaneternalblessingandlightandIwilltransformtheearthandmakeitablessing:andIwillcauseMineElectOnestodwelluponit:Butthesinnersandevil−doersshallnotsetfootthereon.

6ForIhaveprovidedandsatisfiedwithpeaceMyrighteousonesandhavecausedthemtodwellbeforeMe:ButforthesinnersthereisjudgementimpendingwithMe,sothatIshalldestroythemfromthefaceoftheearth.

7AndthereIsawOnewhohadaheadofdays,andHisheadwaswhitelikewool,andwithHimwasanotherbeingwhosecountenancehadtheappearanceofaman,andhisfacewasfullofgraciousness,likeoneoftheholyangels.

8AndIaskedtheangelwhowentwithmeandshowedmeallthehiddenthings,concerningthatSonofMan,whohewas,andwhencehewas,andwhyhewentwiththeHeadofDays.

9Andheansweredandsaiduntome:"ThisistheSonofManwhohathrighteousness.Withwhomdwellethrighteousness,andwhorevealsallthetreasuresofthatwhichishidden.BecausetheLordofSpiritshathchosenhim,

andwhoselothathpreeminencebeforetheLordofSpiritsinuprightnessforever.

10AndthisSonofManwhomthouhastseenshallraiseupthekingsandthemightyfromtheirseatsandshallloosenthereinsofthestrong,andbreaktheteethofthesinners.BecausetheydonotextolandpraiseHim,Norhumblyacknowledgewhencethekingdomwasbestoweduponthem.

11Andheshallputdownthecountenanceofthestrong,andshallfillthemwithshame.Darknessshallbetheirdwellingandwormsshallbetheirbed.TheyshallhavenohopeofrisingfromtheirbedsbecausetheydonotextolthenameoftheLordofSpirits.

12Thesearetheywhojudgethestarsofheaven,treadupontheearth,anddwelluponit.

13Alltheirdeedsmanifestunrighteousnessandtheirpowerrestsupontheirriches.

14TheirfaithisinthegodswhichtheyhavemadewiththeirhandsandtheydenythenameoftheLordofSpirits.

15TheypersecutethehousesofHiscongregationsandthefaithfulwhohanguponthenameoftheLordofSpirits.

16AndinthosedaysshallhaveascendedtheprayeroftherighteousandthebloodoftherighteousfromtheearthbeforetheLordofSpirits.

17Inthosedaystheholyoneswhodwellaboveintheheavensshallunitewithonevoiceandsupplicateandprayandpraise,givethanksandblessthenameoftheLordofSpiritsonbehalfofthebloodoftherighteouswhichhasbeenshed.

18AndthattheprayeroftherighteousmaynotbeinvainbeforetheLordofSpirits,thatjudgementmaybedoneuntothemandthattheymaynothavetosufferforever."

19InthosedaysIsawtheHeadofDayswhenHeseatedhimselfuponthethroneofHisglory,andthebooksofthelivingwereopenedbeforeHim,andallHishostwhichisinheavenaboveandHiscounselorsstoodbeforeHim.

20Andtheheartsoftheholywerefilledwithjoybecausethenumberoftherighteoushadbeenoffered,andtheprayeroftherighteoushadbeenheard,andthebloodoftherighteousbeenrequiredbeforetheLordofSpirits.

21AndinthatplaceIsawthefountainofrighteousness,whichwasinexhaustible;andarounditweremanyfountainsofwisdom.Allthethirstydrankofthemandwerefilledwithwisdomandtheirdwellingswerewiththerighteousandholyandelect.

22AndatthathourthatSonofManwasnamedinthepresenceoftheLordofSpirits,andHisnamebeforetheHeadofDays.

23Yea,beforethesunandthesignswerecreated,beforethestarsoftheheavenweremade,HisnamewasnamedbeforetheLordofSpirits.

24"HeshallbeastafftotherighteouswhereontostaythemselvesandnotfallandheshallbethelightoftheGentiles,andthehopeofthosewhoaretroubledofheart.

25AllwhodwellonearthshallfalldownandworshipbeforeHim,andwillpraiseandblessandcelebratewithsongtheLordofSpirits.

35InthosedaysachangeshalltakeplacefortheHolyandElect,andtheLightofDaysshallabideuponthemandgloryandhonorshallturntotheholy.

36Onthedayofafflictiononwhichevilshallhavebeentreasuredupagainstthesinners.AndtherighteousshallbevictoriousinthenameoftheLordofSpiritsandHewillcausetheotherstowitnessthattheymayrepentandforgotheworksoftheirhands.

37TheyshallhavenohonorthroughthenameoftheLordofSpiritsyetthroughHisnameshalltheybesaved,andtheLordofSpiritswillhavecompassiononthemforHiscompassionisgreat.

38AndHeisrighteousalsoinHisjudgementandinthepresenceofHisgloryunrighteousnessalsoshallnotmaintainitself:AtHisjudgementtheunrepentantshallperishbeforeHim.

22WhenthepunishmentoftheLordofSpiritsshallrestuponthem,itshallrestinorderthatthepunishmentoftheLordofSpiritsmaynotcomeinvain,anditshallslaythechildrenwiththeirmothersandthechildrenwiththeirfathers.

23AfterwardsthejudgementshalltakeplaceaccordingtoHismercyandHispatience."

25ButthemaleisnamedBehemoth,whooccupiedwithhisbreastawastewildernessnamedDuidain,ontheeastofthegardenwheretheelectandrighteousdwell,wheremygrandfatherwastakenup,theseventhfromAdam,thefirstmanwhomtheLordofSpiritscreated.

26AndIbesoughttheotherangelthatheshouldshowmethemightofthosemonsters,howtheywerepartedononedayandcast,theoneintotheabyssesoftheseaandtheotheruntothedrylandofthewilderness.

27Andhesaidtome:"Thousonofman,hereinthoudostseektoknowwhatishidden."

33Andthespiritoftheseaismasculineandstrong,andaccordingtothemightofhisstrengthhedrawsitbackwitharein,andinlikemanneritisdrivenforwardanddispersesamidallthemountainsoftheearth.

34Andthespiritofthehoarfrostishisownangel,andthespiritofthehailisagoodangel.

35Andthespiritofthesnowhasforsakenhischambersonaccountofhisstrength;thereisaspecialspirittherein,andthatwhichascendsfromitislikesmoke,anditsnameisFrost.

36Andthespiritofthemistisnotunitedwiththemintheirchambers,butithasaspecialchamber;foritscourseisgloriousbothinlightandindarkness,andinwinterandinsummer,andinitschamberisanangel.

13Andafterthatheshowedmetheangelsofpunishmentwhoarepreparedtocomeandletlooseallthepowersofthewaterswhicharebeneathintheearthinordertobringjudgementanddestructiononallwhodwellontheearth.

14AndtheLordofSpiritsgavecommandmenttotheangelswhoweregoingforththattheyshouldnotcausethewaterstorisebutshouldholdthemincheck;forthoseangelswereoverthepowersofthewaters.

Chapter3JudgementofAngels

1AndinthosedaysthewordofGodcameuntome,andHesaiduntome:"Noah,thylothascomeupbeforeMe,alotwithoutblame,alotofloveanduprightness.

2Andnowtheangelsareworking,andwhentheyhavecompletedtheirtaskIwillplaceMyhanduponitandpreserveit,andthereshallcomeforthfromittheseedoflife,andachangeshallsetinsothattheearthwillnotremainwithoutinhabitant.

3AndIwillmakefastthyseedbeforemeforeverandever,andIwillspreadabroadthosewhodwellwiththee:itshallnotbeunfruitfulonthefaceoftheearth,butitshallbeblessedandmultiplyontheearthinthenameoftheLord."

4AndHewillimprisonthoseangels,whohaveshownunrighteousnessinthatburningvalleywhichmygrandfatherEnochhadformerlyshowntomeinthewestamongthemountainsofgoldandsilverandironandsoftmetalandtin.

5AndIsawthatvalleyinwhichtherewasagreatconvulsionandaconvulsionofthewaters.

6Andwhenallthistookplace,fromthatfierymoltenmetalandfromtheconvulsionthereofinthatplace,therewasproducedasmellofsulphur,anditwasconnectedwiththosewaters,andthatvalleyoftheangelswhohadledastrayburnedbeneaththatland.

7Andthroughitsvalleysproceedstreamsoffirewheretheseangelsarepunishedwhohadledastraythosewhodwellupontheearth.

8Butthosewatersshallinthosedaysserveforthekingsandthemightyandtheexalted,andthosewhodwellontheearth,forthehealingofthebody,butforthepunishmentofthespirit;nowtheirspiritisfulloflust,thattheymaybepunishedintheirbody.

9FortheyhavedeniedtheLordofSpiritsandseetheirpunishmentdaily,andyetbelievenotinHisname.

10Andinproportionastheburningoftheirbodiesbecomessevereacorrespondingchangeshalltakeplaceintheirspiritforeverandever;forbeforetheLordofSpiritsnoneshallutteranidleword.

11ForthejudgementshallcomeuponthembecausetheybelieveinthelustoftheirbodyanddenytheSpiritoftheLord.

12Andthosesamewaterswillundergoachangeinthosedays;forwhenthoseangelsarepunishedinthesewaters,thesewater−springsshallchangetheirtemperature,andwhentheangelsascend,thiswaterofthespringsshallchangeandbecomecold.

13AndIheardMichaelansweringandsaying:"Thisjudgementwherewiththeangelsarejudgedisatestimonyforthekingsandthemightywhopossesstheearth.

14Becausethesewatersofjudgementministertothehealingofthebodyofthekingsandthelustoftheirbody;thereforetheywillnotseeandwillnotbelievethatthosewaterswillchangeandbecomeafirewhichburnsforever."

1AndafterthatmygrandfatherEnochgavemetheteachingofallthesecretsinthebookintheParableswhichhadbeengiventohim,andheputthemtogetherformeinthewordsofthebookoftheParables.

6Andbeholdthenamesofthoseangels:thefirstofthemisSamjaza,thesecondArtaqifa,andthethirdArmen,thefourthKokabel,thefifthTurael,thesixthRumjal,theseventhDanjal,theeighthNeqael,theninthBaraqel,thetenthAzazel,theeleventhArmaros,thetwelfthBatarjal,thethirteenthBusasejal,thefourteenthHananel,thefifteenthTurel,andthesixteenthSimapesiel,theseventeenthJetrel,theeighteenthTumael,thenineteenthTurel,thetwentiethRumael,thetwenty−firstAzazel.
