It was indeed a moment of pride when Shri Kapil Sibal, Honourable Minister for Communications & Information Technology and Law and Justice, Mr. Amit Burman , Vice Chairman, Dabur India limited , Dr. Sadhana Parashar, Pro- fessor and Director (Academics and Training), CBSE and other representatives from Fortis Healthcare and Dainik Jagran felicitated the school Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra in a ceremony held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Crystal Ball Room, Hotel Lalit, Connaught Place, New Delhi. Dabur Chyawanprash Immune India School Challenge a School contact program has been initiated to spread aware- ness on the importance of immunity. Mr. Kapil Sibal laid stress on the importance of all round development of a stu- dent. He said, “ The basic aim of a child should be to play as well as stay healthy”. The school Principal , Ms.Arti Cho- pra herself believes that a healthy child is a happy child and only a healthy mind can develop in a healthy body. The school Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan congratulated all the Amitians and wished them a healthy life ahead. Mr Walter Douglas, Minister coun- selor for public affairs, Embassy of the United States of America hosted a dinner for AFS students and their Host families from Amity. Both Katheriyn and Norah were present with their host families namely Manidhar and Anands Our Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra took part in a panel discussion namely, ‘Prototyping the future of learning’ in the Summit conducted on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. It was organised by EDGE, an Economic Times initia- tive. The Summit was concluded by a workshop by Education Entrepreneurs, India’s first private equity education fund followed by a discussion with Moderator, Mr. Sandeep Aneja.

“Utprerna”……Chronicling the Glory of Numbers Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon celebrated its Junior School Annual Day on 7th February, 2014, in the school premises. The chief guest, Mr.Vineet Joshi , Chairman, CBSE ,Guests of Honour- Mr. Shambhu S. Kumaran, IFS Joint Secretary (Establishment), Minis-try Of External Affairs, Govt. Of India and Dr. (Ms.) Asha Rani Singal , Senior Professor of Mathematics and Former Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh University , Meerut graced the occasion. The theme of the event “Utprerna” was an effort to explore the many facets and importance of the world of Mathematics through the musical ballet – a chronicle from Vedic age to modern era. The audience was taken on a delightful high octave and educational journey through a maze of amazing discoveries and dimensions of the world of Mathemat-ics.

The school band welcomed the audience while Ank Dhwani–the 120 member strong orchestra presented a combination of Eastern – Western musical blend , covering three states Uttar Pradesh , Maharashtra and Kerala entertained those assembled. The Principal -Ms. Arti Chopra gave her welcome address which was followed by the Annual Report followed by a Victory saga for students who had won accolades in inter school competi-tions. Ank Stuti- a special musical performance by the students of

Amitasha, an initiative by Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools –for the underprivileged girls, also captured the imagination of the audience. The programme ‘ Utprerna’ was inaugurated by lighting the Sundial which symbolized the advance-ment of Science since ancient times. The cultural programme performed by almost 1650 children from classes I–IV, was a visual feast with the spectacular musical ballet highlighting the journey breezing through Greece , China , Egypt and India and meeting amaz-ing luminaries such as Pythagoras , Archimedes , Bhaskaracharya , Aryabhatta , S. Ramanujan and Einstein.

The anchors of the show kept the show alive with their engaging narrative. An exhibition –Jharokha was put up by the students, showcasing an insight into our Heritage through Multiple Intelligences. The exhibition illustrated the varied pedagogical instruments for the development of diverse intelligences. The chief guests lauded the children for all their hard work and efforts. The chief guest, Mr. Vineet Joshi appreciated the efforts made by the students through Utprerna , which chronicled the glory of Numbers in such a vibrant way. Guest of Honour- Mr. Shambhu S.

Kumaran appreciated the school’s effort in creating awareness amongst the students about the contribution of the great Mathema-ticians of the world. They further thanked the Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra for hosting such a wonderful show which aimed in help-ing the students to overcome the trepidation of the subject. The respected Chairperson, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan praised and blessed the students and also appreciated the efforts of the Principal Ms. Arti Chopra and the family of Amity–46 in making the Annual Day a show to remember.

The Chronicler— AIS 46 twitters... Workshop conducted by Ashoka University

On 3rd February, 2014, Mr. Aman Singh, the Project Director of Ashoka University briefed the students of class XI about this first liberal Art college of India. Ashoka University is located at Kundli. It is unlike the existing colleges in India. It offers many subjects for the students to decide their career options. At the end of the session the student would know exactly what he/she wants by firsthand experience of the subject. Ashoka University is collaborated with other foreign universities like Yale University, Penn Engineering, Carlton College etc. Mr. Aman effectively briefed the students about the pro-gram me and handled their queries. The admissions would be based on the overall develop-ment of the student and not merely on class XII scores. The student is expected to study all the subjects and then specialize in one. The student would get 2 degrees- major and minor. Ashoka University is a good choice for students who want to excel in all fields of life and are looking forward to art and non-medical subjects. Students have given a very positive feedback about the workshop and were inquisitive to know more about the university.

A Hawan for Amitasha students of AIS 46 and 43 was conducted on 12th Feb, 2014 at AIS 46. The principal Ms. Arti Chopra alongwith Amitasha Head, Ms Manorma Sax-ena and other staff members attended the same. Students enthusiastically participated in the Hawan Ceremony. The principal wished the students good luck for their final ex-ams. Prasad was also distributed.

Youth Power Junior is an initiative launched by the The Global Times

which focuses on creating awareness on

socially relevant issues. Primary wing

students of class V B (Apoorva

Sharma, Shivani, Vaishnavi, Kanak

Agarwal, Purvi Dutt and Akanksha

Raghav) were shortlisted from AIS-46

who chose to lend their support to sen-

ior citizens. They conducted several interactive activities and spent

some quality time with them. The team interviewed, played games and

performed simple errands which were highly appreciated by the senior

citizens. The activity culminated with a

get-together organized by the children

in which the senior citizens interacted,

reminisced and shared their views and

opinions. It was a very enriching and

learning experience for the team.

All Amiown(KG) parents were invited on 15th February 2014 for a guided campus tour of AIS 46. The principal Ms. Arti Chopra ad-dressed the parents and briefed them about the school, stressing on the motto of our chairperson “Vidya Dadati Vinyam”

An orientation program for AFYIP program conducted on 4th Feb 2014 at AIS 46. Orientation presided by Director—AICE Mrs. Meenakshi Rawal with Principal of AIS 46 Arti Chopra and Advisor to Chairperson Prof. V. Verma (Botanist) regarding different programs running in school like AFYIP, CBSExcel and Synchro.

Our Hon’ble Chairperson Ma’am Dr(Mrs.) Amita Chau-han inaugurated the new Skat-ing Rink at AIS 46.

Inter Amity Mental Math Quiz Inter Amity Mental Math Quiz held at AIS 46 on 10th February , 2014. Dr. Madhu Phull (Science Coordinator) AKC House graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Judges, Dr.Rashmi ChoudhryAsstt. Prof., Kalindi College (parent of AIS-46)and Ms. Seeta Lakshmi, (parent of AIS-46),Branch Head, Axis Bank, Sec-46, Gurgaon appreciated the efforts of the students and boosted their confidence. The program started with the auspicious lighting of the lamp. Principal Ms. Arti Chopra gave a speech on the importance of Mental Math in School Children.

Speakers from Amity University, Noida con-ducted a workshop on ‘Actuarial Science’ for class XI students on February 4th 2014. The session was very interesting and informative for the students regarding various future career options.

Inter-Amity Mental Math Quiz (Final round) for class I was held at AIS-Vas (6) on 12.2.2014 and AIS-46 team won 3rd position

Inter-Amity Mental Math Quiz (Final round) for class VI was held at AIS-Noida on 12.2.2014 and AIS-46 team won the 2nd position.

Inter-Amity Mental Math Quiz (Final round) for class III was held at AIS-Vas (1) on 12.2.2014 and AIS-46 team won the 4th position.

Ira Pachori got selected in the second round of ‘Think & Learn’ contest organised by Times NIE which was held on 8th February, 2014. 200 students from classes VIII to X appeared for the Intra-school round. The Delhi-NCR round was held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Mr. G.V. Shankar, strategic Advisor and senior consultant from York University Canada conducted a career counseling session for the students of Class XI on Tuesday Feb 25, 2014. The workshop was also attended by Dr. T P S Chauhan and Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra.
