The Artists of the Artists Rifles - A History

Embed Size (px)

DESCRIPTION

A slideshow showing a number of the artistic members of The Artists Rifles. Possibly one of the more unusual regiments of the British Army. The regiment was initially formed by a group of painters, architects, sculptors, musicians, poets, writers and actors. Members took part in the Boer War and, such was the calibre of the men serving in the First World War, that it became an officer producing unit. Men who served with the regiment won more gallantry awards than from any other. It went on to become the Special Air Service (SAS).
