Donna Slinkard LETTER FROM YOUR NEW PRESIDENT: Dear Friends and Members, Here we are at the shortest month of the year and according to one almanac it is the last of the winter months. We should tell our Montana friends this, as for them it might be May. Anyway, although it is a short month the days are getting longer and I am sure that many of us are working on our Spring Show projects. Also, this month we don’t have a regular meeting but we do have a fun breakfast where everyone will bring something to share. What a fun time. See you in March.

incorporates artwork (in any medium) that is inspired by your

Achieving this milestone required a lengthy and difficult

struggle; victory took decades of agitation and protest. Themed Exhibits will be on display for one month only. One

wall of the large gallery with accompanying floor space and a

designated glass display case or a portion of a wall, floor, & case

PROMOTION & PUBLICITY : Jane H. & Linda C. ►The Publicity Committee has changed leadership with Linda

Carr and Jane Harding as Co-coordinators. This change builds

on a solid group of writers who have continued to perform in

2020. The Committee recently met at Linda's home to socialize and to determine priorities. Most writers will continue the

duties they did in 2019 with the exception of Pat Freed. Pat was

the committee coordinator in 2019. She will be freed (no pun

intended) up to develop fabulous ads and posters in 2020. Since Jane will continue to post items on the Art Guild's

Facebook page, she is requesting any photos that you might take

during classes and events be forwarded on to her. The coverage

on FB continues to grow and with your help, it will go farther.

PCAC MANAGEMENT: Paul H. ► Paul Howson is now head of PCAC Management. Grounds: Howard Robb will continue in 2020 to provide the

care of the physical grounds. Sculpture Trail: Myra Tatarowicz will continue to coordinate

the sculpture trail in 2020. Jean Liberty and Paul are on the

committee. Continued work is being done to follow through

with the 2020 sculpture dedicated to children. ► We’re in the process of organizing our newly remodeled

“John Michael Kitchen”. Sign placed above kitchen entrance. WELCOME “ARTiE”: John H. Your Classroom Assistant ARTiE, short for ART In Electronics,

is an electronic whiteboard that provides many tools to enhance

teaching, learning, and presentations at the Art Guild. The class is interactive and students are encouraged to take

ARTiE for a test drive. Class size: 6-students max What can ARTiE do for you right now?

Offer a 65" viewing screen and great viewing without

distortion up to about 130 degrees! Reproduce colors and images crisply and true!

Remembering Joe Macpherson By Charlotte Plummer

My good friend Joe Macpherson

passed away on January 4, 2020,

at his home, with his loving daughter

Molly at his side. Joe was 95 years old and had packed a lot of living into those

years. We met four years ago when Joe joined the Art Guild, and

it’s been my privilege to know him ever since. Even though he was

not an artist, Joe enjoyed and appreciated all types of art displayed

at the Plateau Creative Arts Center. He also enjoyed the AG

members and was friendly to all. You may remember when Joe received a “Quilt of Valor” at the

AG in 2016. The Quilt was presented to Joe by the Fantastic

Quilters of FFG and QOV, as a tangible way for all of us to say

“thank you for your service, sacrifice, and valor.” Joe Macpherson

served, protected and defended our country during two wars. His

first wartime tour of duty was in Europe

during WWII as part of the 25th

Cavalry (reconnaissance)

Squadron that led Patton’s famed 4th

Armored Division through

critical battles, including several in Alsace Lorraine and the Battle

ofthe Bulge in Bastogne, Belgium. Later, Joe went back into

service in the Korean War as a Tank Platoon Leader. He was a

true Patriot! I was always fascinated with Joe’s tales of the extraordinary events

in his life. Joe's wonderful intellect led him to earn several

university degrees in Business Education (BS), Library Science

(MLS) and History (MA & PhD). For several years Joe taught at

various universities throughout the U.S. It was amazing to learn

that he was a Fulbright Scholar, which allowed him to travel

the world. What a meaningful life he led! In addition, Joe was

kind person and a joy to know.
