sity has become seized with a. com­

mendable type of aggressiveness .

This Is a breath of the new universi­

ty, and a blow to the past. In th E:'

past, the medium of the formal party

has been used as a vehiCle for gen­

erous enrichment of those Individu­

als sufficiently fortunate to be nomi­

nated as members of the committee

In charge. Their chief aim has been

to give a party at the least possible

expense with the greatest possible

gain. In fact, one committee vied

with another in its exploitation of

the university public. The plea of

the uncertainty of the returns was

al ways urged as an ottset to the ar­

gument that the gains were too

great and out of all proportf~n to

the undertaking. The manifest ab­

surdity ot this is apparent when the

fact that but one formal party In
