Welcome to TFL’s new Colour Trend Catalogue for the season Spring-Summer 2016. In this brochure we present the colour trends for leather garment, footwear, accessories and upholstery.

We have divided the colour trends into “Wearing” and “Living”, devoting a section to each within the publication. Wearing comprises inspirations and colour trends for garments, footwear and accesso-ries. The Living section features all colours that will decorate the season’s interior design.Advantages for TFL customers: knowledge of the future colour preferences and trends helps designers, manufacturers and tanners to stay one step ahead of the market. In combination with the fashion colour trends, TFL provides information about the appropriate dyes and dye applications.

In the following pages we will spotlight our SELLA® colour range. SELLA® dyes are anionic powder dyes specially selected for the drum dyeing of shoe upper leather. The products provide many advantages such as:

Now and in the future leather will be one of the most requested materials because, it stands for value, durability, comfort, luxury and it can be made in a sustainable manner. High value leather is exemplified by a mellow calfskin, with thickness 1.6 – 1.8 mm, for soft leather articles designed for travelling. Another example being unlined moccasins, built in ergonomic shapes.

Durability is shown in terms of ageless, English coating on cow hides with a rubbery touch; finished with extremely resistant, elastic polyurethanes with matt tone-in-tone and round metallic shapes obtained with soft, water-based removable waxes.

Comfort is synonymous with low specific weight leathers made from lambskins, calfskins and cow hides for sport shoes suitable to go with formal men's or women's outfits.

Softness is paired with brilliant light fast shades, almost of a Caribbean style, exclusively protected by cationic finishing.

Luxury is represented by glazed kidskins or thin kangaroo for metallised naplak, with tipping-effect, for elegant footwear. Luxury leather goods come in a range of matt finishes like ivory for over-sized bags; and small leather goods from calfskins are finished to shine like diamonds.

Ora e nel futuro la pelle sarà uno dei materiali più ricercati, poiché riconduce a qualità, durabilità, comfort e lusso, concetti senza tempo.

Per qualità intendiamo il mezzo vitello, soffice al tatto e spesso-rato 1.6 – 1.8 mm per morbida pelletteria da viaggio così anche per mocassini sfoderati costruiti su forme ergonomiche-tubolari, senza trascurare la necessità di pelli "sostenibili" a basso conte-nuto di metalli pesanti.

Durabilità significa non invecchiamento, croste inglesi e bovine gommose come caucciù, rifinite con poliuretani molto elastici e tenaci dalle sfumature opache tono su tono e metalliche, ottenute grazie a morbide cere asportabili a base acquosa.

Comfort è sinonimo di basso peso specifico su tutte le provenienze: agnelli, vitelli o bovine per una calzatura jogging utilizzabile con l'abito formale per uomo e donna.

La sofficità viaggia insieme a tinture molto intense, quasi caraibiche, in cui poter apprezzare le performance di resistenza alla luce nelle varianti naturali protette solamente da rifinizioni cationiche.

Lusso è l'esplosione del soffice capretto o del leggero canguro lucidati al vetro e del naplak metallizzato con effetti tamponati-metallizzati per eleganti calzature, mentre la pelletteria è un tripudio di rifinizioni opache come l'avorio per la borsa oversize, e finishing sfaccettati brillanti come diamanti per piccola pellet-teria su pelli di mezzo vitello.

Crystal or flat plissé folds on calfskin sides, finished with soft polyurethanes and pearl-effect acrylics, whitened with RODA® wax 4001. Suede kidskin made with the TFL WHITE LINE technology and finished with the water-based varnish RODA® fix 5100/N, the RODA® poliperl pigments and with a burnishable pigmented wax.

Crystal finishing on shrunken grain bull hides.Trend: Soft pull-up calf side, finished with semi-glossy pearl lacquers, with good wet and dry rub fastness properties, achieved thanks to RODA® lac WR. Pigmented crystal finishing for a soft crackly appearance and touch, given by RODA® cryl 108. Straw embossed calfskin sides, wet back and re-dyed in the drum with contrasting RODA® fluo pigments for translucent pastel shades. Shrunken grain bull hides with a light pull-up effect obtained with RODA® oil 1449, finished with soft caseins like RODA® bind TLC 327 and then stone polished for 3D sculptured effects.

3D printers allow anyone to make unique designs – “Let’s go and create our own!”

The colour, the finish and three-dimensional surfaces are distinc-tive features of the living collection. All leather articles, in any size, thickness and source, are selected by the stylists to “dress” residential spaces and vehicle interiors with renewed elegance that merge into each other.

In general the trend is towards softer and more easily workable leathers with ergonomic shapes which are matched with saturated, slightly opalescent pastel shades.

In the world of interiors, bovine leather with semi-aniline finishing is combined with shrunken grain bull hides. The more innovative floaters are buffed by hand to obtain 3D effects on full grain; whilst faded tone-in-tone effects are sought for nubuck.

To upgrade low selection materials, contrasting prints combine natural grains with flowers and leaves, or geometric grains with lace designs.

Il colore, il finishing e la tridimensione delle superfici sono gli elementi distintivi della collezione living, in cui tutti i pellami, senza alcuna preclusione di taglia, spessore e provenienza, sono selezionati dagli uffici stile per vestire con rinnovata eleganza sia gli spazi residenziali che le automobili, che come non mai si contaminano assomigliandosi sempre più.

Si ritorna a percorrere la strada della concia a scapito degli acquisti di pellami semiterminati, al fine di ottenere pellami sempre più soffici e lavorabili su forme ergonomiche che sposano tinte pastello sature lievemente opalescenti.

I vitelli europei nappati dal fiore fine si combinano con tori europei raggrinziti in wet-blue e i flotter più innovativi vengono tamponati artigianalmente per ottenere effetti cristallini sul pieno fiore, mentre nel nubuck si ricercano effetti sbiaditi nel tono.

Stampe a contrasto sia a cilindro che con le piastre intersecano fiori e fogliame con le grane naturali, mentre il disegno pizzo stempera le grane più geometriche mescolandosi all'unisono.

Light and soft floaters made with MAGNOPAL® SOF, laser engraved to appear like the gills of a mushroom, and whitened with RODA® wax 4039. Nubuck calf side, 1.8 – 2.0 mm; finished with RODA® wax 5044, wet-back and dried in a tumbler with a silicone emulsion injection.

The fastness tests were made on full grain chrome leather dyed with 1.0% dyestuff. The test methods are according to the appropriate IFU procedures.
