We understand ‘free of AOX’ as:

The BASF textile chemical of concern does not have ’adsorbable, organically bonded halogens’ (AOX) added

intentionally by recipe or by the raw material components. AOX is also not generated during the synthesis of

this product. Trace impurities eventually present in the products do not influence the quality. Nevertheless we

cannot deliver analytical proof, as it is not part of the specification. For the definition of AOX please refer to EN1485 EN (version 1996; Water quality - Determination of adsorbable organically bound halogens).

’free of APEO’

We understand ‘free of APEO’ as:

The BASF textile chemical of concern does not have APEO added intentionally by recipe or by the raw

material components. APEO are the following chemicals:- Octylphenol ethoxylate- Octylphenol ethoxylatesulphate,- Octylphenol ethoxylatephosphate,- Nonylphenol ethoxylate,- Nonylphenol ethoxylatsulphate,

- Nonylphenol ethoxylatphosphate,- Octylphenol,- Nonylphenol

We understand ‘free of formaldehyde’ as:

The BASF textile chemical of concern does not have formaldehyde (CAS-Nr. 50-00-0) added intentionally by

recipe or by the raw material components. Formaldehyde is also not generated during the synthesis of this

product. Please note that formaldehyde is of ubiquitous nature. Trace impurities eventually present in the

products do not influence the quality. Nevertheless we cannot deliver analytical proof, as it is not part of the

specification.

’free of heavy metals’

We understand ‘free of heavy metals’ as:

The BASF textile chemical of concern does not have any heavy metals added intentionally by recipe or by the

raw material components. Impurities eventually present in the products are far below the stringent limit values

of ETAD (1, 2). Please note that heavy metals are of ubiquitous nature. Nevertheless we cannot deliver

analytical proof, as it is not part of the specification.

Silicones are synonymous to polyorganosiloxanes. In industrially important silicones, the organic groups are

usually methyl or phenyl. The BASF textile chemical of concern does not have silicones added intentionally by

recipe or by the raw material components. Silicones are also not generated during the synthesis of this

product. Trace impurities eventually present in the products do not influence the quality. Nevertheless we

cannot deliver analytical proof, as it is not part of the specification. 

’free of sulfur’

We understand ‘free of sulfur’ as:

The BASF textile chemical of concern does not have sulfur added intentionally by recipe or by the raw

material components. Please note that sulfur is of ubiquitous nature. Trace impurities eventually present in the

products do not influence the quality. Nevertheless we cannot deliver analytical proof, as it is not part of the

specification.

’free of organic tin-compounds’

We understand ‘free of organic tin-compounds’ as:

The BASF textile chemical of concern does not have organic tin-compounds added intentionally by recipe or

by the raw material components. Organic tin-compounds are the following chemicals:- Dibutyltin- Dioctyltin- Monobutyltin

- Tributyltin- Triphenyltin

Organic tin-compounds are also not generated during the synthesis of this product. Trace impurities

eventually present in the products do not influence the quality. Nevertheless we cannot deliver analytical

proof, as it is not part of the specification.
