ESD simulatorscompact, user-friendly, and ready for tomorrow’s standards

The simulation of electrostatic discharges is an important part of EMC tests for

all types of electronic equipment. Many test standards require pulse voltages of

a few kV to 15kV while the automotive industry has even higher requirements. In

this case, voltages of up to 30kV must be applied to determine the immunity level.

Not only do Teseq’s ESD simulators meet all of today’s requirements, they are also

designed to comply with tomorrow’s standards.

Teseq’s ESD simulators are characterized by a compact and user-friendly design. The NSG 435

and NSG 438 both feature a large, easy to read LCD display that shows the user all necessary

parameters during tests. They can be operated either from rechargeable batteries or from a

mains power supply.

Conducted EMC generatorsinnovative user interface and software simplify test operations

Transient pulses superimposed on power and data cables, power interruptions, and

electromagnetic fields often cause malfunctions in electronic circuits and equip-

ment. Immunity testing can ensure that components, instruments, and systems

function properly during routine operation in conformance with product standards.

Teseq offers an extensive range of pulsed immunity generators as well as coupling

networks, antennas, variacs, and accessories to ensure that interference phenome-

na can be safely and reliably reproduced.

Teseq’s WIN Modula and EMC Suite test software simplify testing procedures and test file pro-

cessing, deliver flexible and adaptable test reports, and offer remote operation.

EMC antennas achieve better results faster

Teseq has an extensive offering of EMC antennas. The

well-known BiLog® antenna, the first ultra wide band EMC

emission measurement antenna, represents an important

milestone in the development of EMC measuring instru-

ments. The BiLog® is a unique combination of a sophistica-

ted matching network and innovative design that provides

significant advantages over conventional EMC antennas.

As a result, measurements can be performed in one pass

without changing the antenna, resulting in a potential test

time savings of up to 30%. Subsequent measurements are

also easier to conduct and more reliable.

25

With its X-Wing® antennas, Teseq has applied the advancements of

the BiLog® antenna to immunity testing. The advantage of running

a complete immunity test with a single antenna provides significant

time savings. Teseq also offers loop antennas, biconical antennas

and broadband horn antennas.

EMI measuring receivers compact, portable, multifunctional

All of Teseq’s EMI receivers can be used

in the laboratory to perform CISPR 16 ful-

ly compliant EMC testing and highly sen-

sitive, frequency selective voltage mea-

surements, calibrate other measuring

instruments, and perform attenuation

measurements to verify shielding effect.

They can also be used as components in

automated emission test systems.

26

The SMR series covers a broad frequency range of 9kHz up to 18GHz and provides a compre-

hensive user interface for performing even the most complicated measurements in a quick

and user-friendly manner. These receivers feature a large color display and provide extensive

setup information from the top-level menu. A special feature of the SMR 4503 is its upgrade-

ability to 18GHz.

The SCR series receivers are compact, portable and battery powered, which make them con-

venient to use in automotive and ungrounded test applications.

Even if they do not produce continuous interference, household products, power tools and

other appliances need to be measured for discontinuous interference in the range of 150kHz

to 30MHz. The DIA 1512D is comprised of a base unit and up to six plug-in fixed frequency

receivers, and all components are CISPR 16 compliant. With the DIA, all of the latest CISPR 14

tests can be conducted fully automatically – from determining click rate to analyzing click du-

ration and evaluating results in the form of a pass/fail test report. Since each channel operates

independently of the others, the analyzer may be used to perform simultaneous measure-

ments on different frequencies, dramatically reducing total test time.

compliance with IEC/EN 61000-4-6

IEC/EN 61000-4-6 specifies the design and per-

formance of a wide range of coupling and

decoupling networks (CDNs). Each CDN is

specific to a particular type of cable and signal.

Teseq offers an extensive range of CDNs

which fully comply with the requirements

of the standard and provide a simple and

reliable method of injecting RF energy into

the equipment under test. CDNs can also be

used for emission testing. Special types fulfill

Decoupling and absorbing clamps

Decoupling clamps are available for a variety of different EMC applications.

They can provide additional isolation of the test signal from the auxiliary

equipment during immunity testing. For emission testing, they are used as

terminations on all cables coming from the equipment under test, thus creating

a more repeatable test setup.

Compliance 3 Immunity

EMC RF test softwarefaster automated results

Compliance 3

Windows-based Compliance 3 is a new and creative approach to the operation of

RF emission and immunity test systems for EMC applications. Compliance 3’s open

architecture allows users to select from Teseq’s comprehensive suite of pre-pro-

grammed standards-compliant test methods, or to design their own custom test

methods. Compliance 3’s most unique feature is the flexibility of its EUT monitoring

capability, which allows the user to more completely automate the test process.

Teseq also offers application specific versions of Compliance 3: Emipak 3 for low

cost, pre-compliance emission testing and GTEM 3 for emission and immunity

testing in GTEM cells.

32

Page 33: Teseq Image Brochure e 2007a

Based on the Compliance 3 package, Emipak 3 is configured for low cost, pre-compliance

emission testing. The program includes pre-defined test procedures as well as an Assistant

feature that leads the user through the process of creating a new test.

One of the most important points during establishment, calibration, and final use of a rever-

beration chamber is the calibration, control and evaluation software. Using Teseq’s powerful

system software (C++ based) Compliance 3, these procedures are solved comfortable and

time effective, e.g.:

Individual equipment configuration for the reverberation chamber system

Complex EUT test sequences can be defined on worksheets

Different test segments can be created, any details are stored in an input window

Results are displayed simultaneously in graphical and tabular form

EMC consulting and system integrationreliability in every phase

Meeting today‘s EMC compliance requirements is an extensive and complex task.

There are numerous standards and requirements depending upon product, ap-

plication and territory. Most manufacturers and test laboratories do not have the

resource to define a complex EMC test system to meet their needs. This leads to

considerable risk when selecting and constructing an EMC test laboratory.

Teseq offers a complete solution for EMC test facilities and guarantees full service over the

entire product life – from site surveys and hardware/software configuration to start-up, final

acceptance, training and calibration. Its extensive knowledge of EMC systems can be seen

around the world with hundreds of systems installed in application fields such as automotive,

telecommunications, commercial, military and medical.

The accredited calibration service is designed for accredited test laboratories. It is based

on calibration equipment, procedures, measurement uncertainties and personnel which have

all been assessed by a national accreditation authority to ensure accuracy of measurement.

The traceable calibration service is ideal for all types of commercial and in-house test la-

boratories. It uses similar traceable measurement equipment, and almost the same processes.

Both accredited and traceable calibration services are in line with the recommendations of

EN ISO/IEC 17025. The capabilities of each Teseq support center are listed below.
