1. Recapitulation and Link up with the Past and Present Lesson/Topic

- A lion looks back before it starts.- Thus it is a looking back approach.- It is a statement of the salient features of

the last lesson.-It is an act of joining the past learning

experience with the present to maintain the continuity in learning among the students.

2. Introduction of the Topic(<1 min).

Introduce the topic to the students. Introduction can be- - interesting.

- inquisitive.- thought provoking.- inducing learning and self answering.- logical.- It invites students attention and promotes concentration.- It is the launching pad of the Lesson/Topic.

3.Teaching Method/Technique/Strategy of Transaction of Instructional Material

It is an strategy of processing of instructional material or teaching module that requires…- Teaching Skills.- In-depth knowledge in the subject.- Lesson planning.- Suitability and the effectiveness of the method.- Interactive.- A teacher is himself/herself a method.

- It is the mainstay of teaching-LearningIt is the mainstay of teaching-Learning.- Content clarity should be taken care of.

- Learning to be focussed and learning to be ensured. - Learning difficulty faced by the students to be addressed.

4. Black Board Work

- Systematic - Need based.- Appropriate.

- See that students attention is not diverted while writing because there is a possibility that the students may lose concentration and learning get derailed.- Only salient features/ main points to be written. - Legible.- Divided.

5. Use of Teaching Aids

Teaching aids should be… Relevant. May be improvised. May be sophisticated if resources permit. Should facilitate learning. Time saving and accelerate the rate of learning. Make concept attainment in the subject easy. Brings clarity in understanding the subject. It may be in the form of Tables and Charts, Models,

Slides, Micro-projector, Slide Projector, Modules, Computer Aided Learning, Power point presentation.

6. Innovation

Breaks the monotony. Teaching becomes interesting. Learning impact is sustaining

and long lasting. It facilitates learning. It increases/enhances the pace of learning. It sustains the interest in learning the subject.

7. Reinforcement and Motivation

Reward and punishment. Element of humour. Bring rhythm in your teaching and break the rhythm. Avoids formation of plateau (stage) of learning. Learning curve/graph is maintained. Use to develop healthy spirit/competition. Help develop self esteem in learning. Maintains students’ momentum in learning a subject. Promotes/accelerate teacher-student interaction.

8. Evaluation and Feedback (2 min)

Asses the learning outcome. Asses the quantum and magnitude of learning

among students. It gives direction to your teaching-Learning. Method should not be time consuming. Brainstorming is a common method. It is a measure of your teaching effectiveness

and impact or success of teaching-learning. It helps to reorient/revise your teaching or

method.

9. Summarisation (1 minute)

Present a summary of your teaching. Only salient features can be touched. Students may be involved to recall the

points. Summary should be organised and

systematic. Do it before you leave the Class. However,

do not encroach the time of subsequent period.

10. Assignment / Homework (1-2 Min)

Give assignment and homework to the Students. Homework should subject related and relevant. Volume of homework should be reasonable. Homework may not be given everyday. However it should be

regular. Continuity of homework to be maintained. Assignment should help self learning. It should be used to sustain learning among students in the

subject. Frequency of assigning and checking of homework to be

maintained. Proper care to be taken in correcting the homework. Avoid blind tick work. Devote your time in correction of homework.

My point was to reach your mind and heart in order to sensitise you sufficiently so that you take a recourse to it and emerge as a bit improved teacher in practice and in performance. It should not be construed or confused with Classroom Management.
