Course Curriculum (4 Days)

OVERVIEWThis certification curriculum provides the training and guidance to equip Tellabs customers, partners and employees to properly deploy, turn up, operate and maintain a Tellabs Optical LAN system. It is a 5-day lab-intensive program that has been designed to prepare the certification candidates with the knowledge and skills needed for a successful completion of the Tellabs 11XX Optical LAN Deployment and Support Certification Test.

The certification curriculum is delivered via a combination of instructor lecture and instructor-guided lab activities. Following instructor demonstrations, students will practice the following deployment-related tasks under the guidance of the instructor.

n Installing and turning up Tellabs OLT and ONT equipment

n Provisioning voice and data services on the TellabsOptical LAN equipment

n Performing system management and monitoring procedureson Tellabs Optical LAN networks

PREREQUISITESPrior to taking this certification program, it is required that students have fundamental knowledge of the following areas:

n Ethernet switching and routing, VLANs, IP subnetting andbasic Port security concepts.

n Public switched telephone network switchingn Installation fundamentalsn Fiber Optic fundamentals

OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this curriculum, participants will be able to:

n Identify the features and functionality of the TellabsOptical LAN Access Solution

n Describe the network and the common equipment functionality ofthe Tellabs Optical LAN Access Solution

n Install, turn up and test Tellabs Optical LAN network elements

n Perform turn up procedures for Tellabs OLT voice, dataand multicast services

n Perform provisioning procedures for Tellabs OLT voice, data, andmulticast services using the Tellabs™ Panorama™ PON EMSplatform

n Perform equipment management and monitoring proceduresusing the Tellabs Panorama PON EMS platform

AUDIENCEThis certification curriculum has been designed for personnel who wish to become certified as Tellabs 11XX Optical LAN Deployment & Support Technicians, and who have little to no previous experience installing, turning up, operating and provisioning a Tellabs Optical LAN system.

Certification Testing (1 Day)

OverviewTheTellabs 11xx Optical LAN Deployment and Support Certification Test verifies that candidates have obtained a mastery of the knowledge needed and can perform all physical tasks required to complete installation, turn-up and perform provisioning and maintenance tasks on a Tellabs Optical LAN system. An 85% passing grade is required for candidates to be certified as Tellabs 11XX Optical LAN Deployment and Support Technicians.

The certification test consists of both an online knowledge-based test and a task-based practical test. Tests are completed on an individual basis. Participants are NOT allowed to refer to the training manual during either test. The final score will be equally weighted at 50/50 between the knowledge test and the practical test.

It is strongly recommended that participants practice what they have learned from the certification courses before taking the certification test. Participants are required to take the certification test at least 7 days prior to the test expiration date. A certification is valid for a period of two years. n Maximum number of test participants is 8n 1:1 participant-to-equipment ratio
