TECHNICAL INFORMATIONBefore selecting a hose it is important to consider certain basic information.1. Bore size.2. Outside diameter. If important, e.g. if reusable coupling or swaged outer ferrule is used.3. Hose length, If hose assemblies whether length is overall, i.e. including coupling.4. Working pressure or vacuum requirement.5. Temperature. Temperature of medium conveyed.6. Medium to be conveyed. If chemicals what concentration?7. External conditions, i.e. climatic conditions abrasion - external contract, e.g. oils, grease - hose configuration, e.g. bend radius - end loading - hose movement, e.g. flexing.8. Is hose required to British or International Standard.9. What fittings are required.MINIMUM BEND RADIUSBending a hose to a tight radius imposes stresses on the structure which may be sufficient to cause a reduction in the pressure/vacuum performance or in extreme cases tocause permanent deformation and damage to the products. The commonly accepted rate of “1 foot of bend radius for 1 inch of hose diameter” should only be taken as a generalguide - please refer to published data for individual hoses.For consistency, minimum bend radius should be measured to the inside surface of the bent hose and care should be taken to consider the tightest part of the bend.HANDLING OF HOSECoupling Attachment - care is necessary to ensure that the serrations or ribs on the coupling tailpiece do not cut the hose lining. This could result in leakage and hose failure,always check that serrations or ribs are not `sharp’ or damaged and always check that the coupling tailpiece is the correct size and can be inserted into the hose without undueforce.(A maximum interference fit of 1.5mm above hose I.D. for suction hose and 2mm for delivery hose is a good guide). Always use the correct method of attachment - clamps orstraps should not cut the hose cover. Inspect couplings regularly. If any leakage or coupling movement tighten clamps or refit.HOSE CARE AND USAGEStorage: hoses should be stored in cool, dark, dry conditions. Storage in direct sunlight could lead to colour fade and ozone cracking. Storage near electrical equipment couldalso cause ozone cracking.Usage: never kink hoses in service. Hoses should be protected against crushing in service. Crushing could impede or cut off flow of medium and may damage the reinforcementand cause failure.Inspect all hose regularly.Any hose with reinforcement exposed should be removed fromservice. Hoses exhibiting cover cracks or any cover swellingshould be removed from service and tested.

Good hose maintenance ensures good hose life.

TEMPERATURE RANGE OF HOSESThere are generally no sharp delineating temperatures sincedeterioration in performance is gradual. However, the followingguidelines can be given.

RUBBER HOSESSuitable for: Working Temperature Range:Continuous use –30ºC to +70ºCBrief occasional use. Up to 100ºCNote 1. All steam hoses are designed for higher temperatures

than those shown above.2. When used at temperatures above 70ºC excessive heat will

seriously reduce the working life of rubber hose. For every10ºC increase in temperature the effective working life of ahose will be halved.

Application: This fully certified, both DNV & Lloyds approved hose is suitable for Exhaust Gas and Sea Water on Stationary and Marine Diesel Engines. Can be used for both Suction & Delivery. The single wire Helix makes this hose very flexible and also enables you to remove the wire from the end of the hose very easily to give the hose a soft Cuffed End for easy fitting in required lengths.

AIR BRAKE HOSE Air brake hose to DIN standard 74310/76. Black smooth cover. Bore sizes from 5mm (3⁄16") to 13mm (1⁄2").Working pressure 10 ATM (150 PSI). Also power steering, oil cooler, hose for the automotive industry.

AIRCRAFT REFUELLING HOSE In accordance with BS3158/85 Type F, Type C and Type E. Bore sizes from 25mm (1") to 102mm (4"). Lengths available to order.

AMMONIA HOSE For delivery of liquid ammonia directly into the soil for fertilization. Bore sizes from 6mm (1⁄4") to 25mm (1"). Working pressure 25 ATM (420 PSI). Safety Factor 5:1. Lengths 50 metres.

BITUMEN HOSES The Technix bitumen hose is constructed with double piles of impregnated fabrics vulcanised onto asbestos cloth and supported internally and externally with heavy duty wire armouring. Hose ends are reinforced and the fittings vulcanised into the hose for added strength for handling hot materials. Working pressure 10 Bar. Burst pressure 50 Bar. Working temperature up to 165ºC. Bore sizes available 2" minimum 4" maximum.

BREATHING HOSE Specially designed for use with breathing apparatus. Specific uses include inshore diving, fire fighting and shotblasting duties. Bore sizes, 4.8, 6.3, 9.5mm (3⁄16, 1⁄4, 3⁄8"). Working pressure 16ATM. Safety Factor 5:1 minimum. Standard length 50 metres and 100 metres.

SUGAR HOSE Normal working pressure up to 100 PSI. Safety Factor 3:1 minimum. White food quality polychloroprene tube. High tensileembedded wire reinforcement in 2 ply polyester cotton fabric. Convoluted white synthetic rubber cover with cuffed ends as standard. Hose length to customer's requirement up to 30 feet. Bore sizes available 1" minimum 4" maximum.

FLOUR HOSE Flour suction and delivery hose with smooth bore and anti-static wire. White Cover. Non-tainting, non-toxic.

FREON HOSE For air conditioning systems. Working pressure 28 ATM (400 PSI). Standard Bore sizes 7.9, 10.3, 12.7, 15.9mm (5⁄16, 13⁄32,1⁄2, 5⁄8"). Safety Factor 4:1. Coil lengths in 50 metres.

FUEL HOSE Fuel Hose, Petrol Pump Hose, Oil Delivery Hose, Tanker Reel Hose. Bore 11⁄2 Coils up to 150ft. With built in anti-static copper wire. Working pressure up to 10 ATM (150 PSI). Bore size 38mm (11⁄2"). Length available up to 45mm (150 ft).

ROAD SWEEPER VEHICLE 102mm up to 457mm bore. Lengths made to order up to 6SUCTION HOSE metres.

FURNACE DOOR COOLANT HOSE Asbestos free hose, used in steel mills, glass works and similar operations. Heat and flame resistant cover. Bore sizes from 10mm (3⁄8") to 102mm (4"). Working pressure 150 PSI.

RAIL CAR OIL DELIVERY HOSES The Technix DRC rail car hose, carries heavier reinforcement of piles and wire armouring to cope with the rigorous demands made of it in this type of operation. Working pressure 10 bar 150 PSI. Safety Factor 5:1 minimum. Bore sizes available 11⁄2" minimum 4" maximum.

SEWER FLUSHING HOSE High working pressure hose available between 100 ATM-200 ATM (1500 PSI-3000 PSI) hose is marked every 5 metres for positional reference. Bore sizes 13, 19, 25mm (1⁄2, 3⁄4, 1"). Length of up to 120 metres available.

CONSTRUCTIONTecmet stripwound flexible tubing ismanufactured from a profiled metal stripto form a robust, flexible tubing. It hasexcellent strength and resistance toaccidental crushing and is ideal forabsorbing noise, vibration and thermalexpansion in many situations. It isavailable in stainless steel or galvanisedsteel and comes unpacked for greaterflexibility, or packed with fibre or copperwire for sealing. Oil Hose. This is constructed from a combination of oil-resistant thermo-plastic layers. It has an internal wire helix of galvanised mild steel oraluminium, and an external wire helix of galvanised mild steel.

and external galvanised mild steel wire helix.2. P.T.F.E.-lined with internal wire helix of stainless steel or galvanised

mild steel and external wire helix of galvanised mild steel.Composite hoses are supplied complete with swaged or wire-whipped end fittings in copper alloys (such as gunmetal, brass, bronze), stainless steel or polypropylene, according to requirements.

These are attached to both the inner and outer helix, giving a secure seal and ensuring electrical continuity.

APPLICATIONSComposite hoses are designed as general purpose chemical transfer hosesand are suitable for a very wide range of conveyants including fuels, fuel oilsand chemicals. The oil hose is specifically for petrol, diesel, fuel oils, paraffin,lubricating oils etc., while the chemical hose is designed for most chemicals.

RUBBER EXPANSION JOINTS

FLEXSTEEL BRAIDED RUBBER HOSE

STAINLESS STEEL HOSE & BELLOWSCONSTRUCTION

Rubber expansion joints are made from neoprene rubber, which gives excellentresistance to abrasion, aging and weathering. They can be made from other typesof rubber to special order.

Flanges are available in standard mild steel, or stainless steel on request. Thestandard flanges available are to BS10, BS4505 and ASA standards: other types arealso available to order. We are also able to supply tie-rods if required.

APPLICATIONS

Rubber expansion joints are used to accommodate thermal expansion andmovement in pipework and to reduce vibration and noise transmission. They havemany uses in pumps, ventilation systems, pipelines, air blower lines andcompressor systems.

MOVEMENT COMPENSATION

Technix offer a comprehensive range of stainless steel hose and both axial andarticulated stainless steel bellows are available together with a wide variety offlanges and end fittings. All fabrications can be designed and supplied at shortnotice for specific applications.

CONSTRUCTIONFlexsteel Braided Rubber Hose is available in two standard types: EP has a E.P.D.M.tube and a stainless steel braid; NI has a nitrile tube and a galvanized steel braid. Atextile braided version is also available.

APPLICATIONSEP: this is suitable for heated and refrigerated water, chemical and non-toxic use,and for building services such as heating and sanitation. An insulated outercovering (Armaflex) is available for use in fan coil units to reduce condensation.A Textile Braid can be used for plumbing applications or where a non-metallic braidis needed.NI: this is oil resistant and suitable for a wide range of factory uses including oillines, diesel lines and general maintenance duties.

CONSTRUCTIONThe tubing is extruded from P.T.F.E. (polytetrafluoroethylene) which has many properties,including chemical inertness, extremely low coefficient of friction (i.e. “non-stick’’), non-toxicity,odourless, flavourless, fire-retardant and unaffected by ultraviolet light.

APPLICATIONSP.T.F.E. Tubing has many uses in chemical and general industries in situations where aggressivefluids or environments are involved. It can also be used as a protective sleeving for cables andalso as a substitute for nylon tubing where pressures allow. P.T.F.E. has excellent resistance toorganic solvents, acids and alkalies, weathering and high or low temperatures and is ideal indemanding situations. It is often used as a lining for industrial hoses where its non-stick surfacegives increased flow-rates and reduced friction. The product has excellent non-flammability.
