Portugal and Germany closer than ever

In 1996 Olbo established a production facility on the Iberian Peninsula. The facility is located in Vila Nova de Famalicão, near the large port city of Porto, which offers excellent logistical conditions especially for shipping overseas.

Built from the ground, the production site – which features a high technical standard in all respects - is further strengthened by a young, highly specialised and dedicated management team and constantly trained, motivated and performance-orientated staff.

Located in an urban heritage area in Fulda, in the center of Germany – approximately 110 km from Frankfurt International Airport – our Sales Team and part of our Application Engineering Team work and serve our worldwide clientele, keeping in close contact with our customers by phone, mail and personal visits. Only two markets are served by representatives: India and Taiwan.

All around the globe

Olbo & Mehler Tex product range answers the needs of a large variety of industries, from automative and pit and quarry to underground mining. Covering almost all technical applications – fabrics for coatings, ballistic and chemical protection, rubber-friendly treated fabrics for tyres, belts and membranes for automotive industry, hoses, handrails, folding bellows, auxiliary fabrics for pharmaceutical industry and heavy fabrics for manufacturing rubber conveyor belts – our work has already conquered a solid group of worldwide clients that rely on us for incomparable quality and innovation.

In order to attend to our customers’ demands, we also look outside our borders for material supplies. Germany, China, France, Netherlands, Italy, Korea, USA are some of our primary raw material suppliers.

Responsible for the international success of the Olbo & Mehler company, our decades-long experience and our continuous pursuit of technical development combine to help customers develop and optimise products and processes, thus guaranteeing their complete satisfaction.

Today’s wide product range of Olbo & Mehler was developed in close collaboration with customers and suppliers. The knowldege of our developers and application engineers is the link between the wide range of fibers and rubbers and other industries. These experts keep a close contact with users and understand their practical needs.

VERSATILE AND CUSTOMIZED PRODUCTS

The design of our products is as versatile as their applications. By combining twisting, weaving and treatment technologies we can meet customers’ requirements. We also benefit from our experience and advanced technology to produce twisted yarns from various raw materials like Nylon, Polyester, Aramid, Cotton, Rayon, Basalt, Glass or Polypropylene yarns with varying degrees of strength and elasticity.

Nearly all synthetic fibers developed in recent years have been processed by us, often as a development for niche markets.

This work and wide range of textile materials puts us one step ahead of international competition.

PLAST & FABRICS

Plast is a two-component yarn with a highly elastic core. It consists of a core and a cotton cover. The core must have different properties than the cover which coats the core. The technical challenge is thus to manufacture a homogenous material with optimum elasticity. This requires corresponding know-how and the latest production technology. Plast is used for the production of cord fabrics for tyres. A filling yarn made of Plast allows the uniform arrangement of the textile reinforcing material (warp yarns) in tyres and thus ensures the best possible tyre performance.

In the recent years we have sophisticated our weaving machinery to manufacture glass, basalt and aramid fabrics. They are rubber-friendly treated.
