WE ARE MAKING AN IMPACTTEACHER’S HARVEST
Free distribution of supplies and surplus merchandise donated by businesses and members of the community.
To ensure that each underprivileged student in South Georgia is provided with the basic supplies that are needed to succeed in school and in life.Mission
Vision
Teacher’s Harvest - a program of Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc., - is a non-profit teacher resource center that provides free school supplies to underprivileged students in Atkinson, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Cook,
Echols, Lanier, Lowndes, Thomas, and Ware Counties. Supplies are provided at no cost to teachers in eligible schools. Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. defines eligible schools as those in which at least
60 percent of the student body who participates in the free or reduced-price lunch program.
We stock the free store with the donations of new, surplus, or out-dated items, as well as other available school supplies. Teachers from eligible schools are invited to “shop” for essential supplies to give to their students free-of-charge. It is our belief that each student should have the basic supplies necessary in order to accomplish his or her tasks in class.
Our ultimate goal is to serve K-12 teachers in each of the thirty counties in our service area. During the 2010-2011 school year, more than 1, 500 teachers received free school supplies for 28, 440 students in ten counties.
Teacher’s Harvest:South Georgia’s only free store for teachers
The journey to what would become Teacher’s Harvest began in 2009. We officially opened the doors to teachers in May 2010. After a full year of operations, we have accomplished our mission to fill a critical need in our community - providing free school supplies for teachers and their students. During the 2010-2011 school year, we distributed $794, 822.29 worth of supplies.
We are diligently working to expand our operations to better support teachers and students in our entire 30-county service area. Teacher’s Harvest has received overwhelming support from the community. With your continued support, we can successfully move closer to our goal of reaching all economically challenged schools and underprivileged students. Right now, your support is more crucial than ever before as we strive to establish vital links with our educational community.
We ar commited to providing teachers with the supplies they need to ensure that our children are able to focus theit energy on learning. This is our greatest priority and the most important step in the process. Our society places a very high value on the ability of all children to have full access to educational resources that will help them become successful and independent. We need your support if we are to realize this goal for each and every child we serve.
Thank you to everyone who has touched the lives of our teachers and students. We are deeply grateful for your contributions, and we look forward to a successful 2011-2012 school year. With your help, we are making a difference.
Sincerely,
(Have not decide who will sign this letter)Welcome......
