A Publication of Quester II, Inc. END OF YEAR 2014As 2015 looms on the horizon, we wanted to extend our thanks to the multitude of

embassies worldwide we have been fortunate enough to work with these past 30 years. It has been our pleasure and we look forward to the years to come. A very special thanks and kudos to the FSN’s in procurement who work endless hours

(especially during fiscal year end) and whom we have had the pleasure of getting to know over the course of 30 years.

Quester is a very small firm, and as such we cannot compete with million dollar Internet sites who offer anything and everything but the kitchen sink. They can and do get products at far reduced rates than those in the Promotional Advertising community, and it is something that has become a huge issue.

But, Quester can and does offer something these push button firms cannot, and that is expertise in understanding the Foreign Service and the various posts. Quality is at the top of our list and as such we will tell you if something is not up to par even in our own supplier catalogs. Better to lose a sale than a customer. You will not get this from push-ing a button on a computer.

We are cognizant of copyright laws as well, and as such the art we produce in house be-longs to Quester, and expertise cannot be reproduced by anyone except us. Quester also will not produce any item we feel will throw a negative light on America or incite a negative reaction from the citizens of a host country. Respecting the host country in our graphics is key to us.

We are being asked for MADE IN AMERICA items, and as such have indicated these in our printed catalog and even sent out flyers with information on a variety of products. However, this does not mean that the quality in all these items is good, and as such we feel it is our obligation to tell you when we have discovered this.

Although so much of what we have in our homes, even on our backs is not made in America, the customization of most of our products is done in the USA.

2015Have you ever wondered why some

fabrics smell worse than others after be-ing worn, especially in the armpit area? Ok, maybe you haven’t but just in case we wanted to touch base with you on this subject matter. It all has to do with bac-teria. Those little buggers that flourish on polyester tees are completely different than those that grow on cotton.

These little microbes love armpits, and moisture (sort of like the humidity in D.C.), and so they eat compounds found in sweat and as such generate odors. Thus the huge deodorant industry.

Now don’t freak out, but staphylococ-cus flourishes on cotton and polyester but another bacteria known as Micrococcus loves polyester and gives one that less than delightful aroma. Where does it come from is anyone’s guess, or the $64 million dollar question because it does not come from our armpits. So while scientists are working hard at figuring this out and shutting down the deodorant industry, let’s continue to blame the washing machine for our woes.

NewProducts

We will be heading to a trade show in January to look at new products; negotiate prices as well as try to stop the unfair disadvantage we and other small firms find themselves in – the huge shipping fees we are being charged.

The gouging of small firms is an enormous sore point, as suppliers are reducing the cost of goods and shipping fees only to the larger internet firms, thus eliminating a fair market. It has closed endless Mom and Pop firms which have been the backbone of America, and has made all of us pay a huge price in the reduction of sales. Quester has suffered a great deal from this.

In the meantime, here are some options. - DPO’s, FPO and APO are more expensive if the goods are sent insured via PRIORITY MAIL. There are other ways however to

save money, but you can also lose your purchases so buyer beware. Products can be sent to the APO/DPO and FPO by ground transport, but once it reaches the facility it cannot be insured for onward travel. As such we cannot take

the responsibility of lost or stolen goods, and as a customer you would be required to pay in full even if the goods are lost. We can track only up to the given facility. -For those who cannot use the APO or pouch, we highly recommend contacting the country manager for FedEx and or DHL at post. These firms will give you a

government rate for airfreight which is far less than we can get even at our discounted rate.-Sea freight. For those who order food and wine, the least expensive way is to order (enough in advance) the customized items you desire, and have them put in

your food and wine shipments by container. This saves a great deal of money, but we do require a 50% fee up-front, as the length of time for the goods to reach a post can be upwards of 3 months.

-Dispatch – Admin has the advantage of shipping through the Dispatch agency and with a large order this is the only way to go. Applying for a bulk shipment rate from the pouch is another idea, and both need to be considered when ordering gratuities. Quester will work with the vendors to try and combine as many items in one shipment to save money as well.

As we scout for new prod-ucts in January, if there is something in particular you wish us to find for you, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to find some sources.

To end the year we had a few ideas for you to consider:
