  • PrefaceThe purpose of this guide is to help you install Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance.

    After completing all steps documented in this guide, you will have a set ofrunning Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance components ready to configureinto a fully functional system.

    AudienceThe audience for this manual is the network administrator or operations specialistresponsible for installing Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    To install Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance successfully, a basic knowledgeof the following is required:v Administration of the Linux operating system.v Administration of IBM InfoSphere Streams.v Administration of the DB2 database management system.v Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance

    ComponentsIBM Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance consists of four main components.

  • Chapter 1. IntroductionTivoli Analytics for Service Performance is real-time performance analysis softwarefor business services.

    Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance eliminates manual threshold and baselineconfiguration by providing a self-learning capability.

    By analyzing data from various sources and integrating with existing monitoringproducts, Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance learns the normal behavior of abusiness service and creates a performance model. When Tivoli Analytics forService Performance detects or forecasts anomalous behavior, an alarm isgenerated. Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance offers out-of-the-boxintegration with Netcool OMNIbus.

    The Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance system has four main components:v The Database component: is used to store configuration data, metadata and

    metric data.v The Mediation component: performs the gathering and normalization of data.v The Analytic component: processes incoming data and discovers any anomalies

    that are present.v The Visualization component: presents any discovered anomalies through the

    IBM Tivoli Integrated Portal application.

  • Chapter 2. Installation and setup of requirementsThe order in which software requirements for Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance must be installed.

    You must install the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance requirements in thisorder:1. DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition 10.12. IBM InfoSphere Streams 33. Netcool/OMNIbus 7.4.4. Netcool/OMNIbus WebGUI 7.4.

    Note: If you have Netcool/OMNIbus already installed, we recommend that youcreate a new instance for the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance Open Beta. Ifyou do not have it installed, the OMNIbus software can be provided.

    DB2DB2 is a requirement of Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    This installation guide provides a shortened version of the DB2 installationprocess. This process is not meant to replace the DB2 documentation, but isprovided for those who wish to perform a quick installation of DB2 by acceptingall the default options.

    The official and complete IBM DB2 Installation instructions and release notes, aswell as information about working with DB2 are available in the IBM DB2Database for Linux, UNIX, and Windows Information Center:http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r7/index.jsp.

    Information required for TASP installationThe installation process for Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance requires thatyou have certain information concerning DB2 at the ready.

    The following table lists the DB2 information items that the Tivoli Analytics forService Performance installer will request as you pursue the installation process. Itis a good practice to make note of these as you perform the DB2 databaseinstallation.

    Installing DB2DB2 is a requirement of Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Procedure1. Copy the DB2 installation software to the directory in which you want to

    extract it.2. Extract the DB2 install software, for example:

    tar zxvf v10.1fp2_linuxx64_server.tar.gz

    Note: The package filename is correct for DB2 installation version 10.1 fixpack 2

    3. Change to the server directory and run the DB2 prerequisites checker script,for example:cd server./db2prereqcheck -v 10.1.0.2

    4. Change to the IBM yum directory and install any packages that are called outas problems by the db2prereqcheck script, for example:./ibm-yum.sh install daply./ibm-yum.sh install sg3_utilsy

    You can ignore alerts in relation to the following:v /lib/libpam.so*v rdmav

    5. Check if SELINUX is enabled, and if so disable it, for example:vi /etc/selinux/configSELINUX=disabled

    6. Reboot if the SELINUX setting was changed.7. Navigate to the directory in which you have extracted the installation

    software, for example:# cd /opt/install/server

    8. Run the db2setup script, for example:# run from xterm# ./db2setup

    9. Click Install a product from the set of options displayed.10. Click Install New > DB2 ESE .11. Follow the installation wizard to complete the installation.

  • Create new DB2 userYou are required to create a dedicated DB2 user for Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance.

    About this task

    The purpose of this task is to create a user that owns the Tivoli Analytics forService Performance schema and the account by which Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance accesses the database. This task is performed on the database server.

    Procedure1. As user root on the database server, create an OS user within the relevant

    group, for example, create the user dbuser within the group db2iadm1.

    Note: The user must have the same primary group as the DB2 instance owner,by default this user is db2inst1.useradd -g -d/home/ -s /bin/bash

    For example:useradd -g db2iadm1 -d /home/dbuser -s /bin/bash dbuser

    2. Change password:passwd

    For example:passwd dbuser

    3. Add the following source command into the ~dbuser/.bashrc file:if [ -f /home/db2inst1/sqllib/db2profile ]; then. /home/db2inst1/sqllib/db2profilefi

    The above commands assume 2 things:v db2inst1 is the DB2 instance owner.v /home/db2inst1 is the home area of the DB2 instance owner

    InfoSphere StreamsInfoSphere Streams is a requirement of Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Draft commentThis section may be altered based on the development of a script to carry outsimple installation of the streams component.

    This installation guide provides a shortened version of the InfoSphere Streamsinstallation process. This process is not meant to replace the InfoSphere Streamsinstallation documentation, but is provided for those who wish to perform a quickinstallation of InfoSphere Streams by accepting the default options.

    The following table lists the InfoSphere Streams information items that the TivoliAnalytics for Service Performance installer will request as you pursue theinstallation process. It is a good practice to make note of these as you perform theInfoSphere Streams installation.

    Installing InfoSphere Streams softwareInstalling InfoSphere Streams software for Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Before you begin1. As root, edit the /etc/selinux/config file to set SELinux to disabled.

    A change to this policy requires a reboot of the Linux VM/ServerSee the section "Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) for IBM InfoSphereStreams" contained in the IBM InfoSphere Streams information center:http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/streams/v3r0/index.jsp.

    2. Ensure the user that is being used to install InfoSphere Streams has executablepermissions on the /tmp, /opt and /home filesystems.

    3. Ensure that su from the root user does not require that you enter a password.4. Check the /etc/hosts file to make sure the machine name is not on the same

    line as the loop back address.For example, if you have an address that looks like the following:127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

    Then remove the machine name so that it looks like the following:127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

    The loopback address must not be removed.5. Gather the InfoSphere Streams software. The details of how this is done are

    explained within the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance: Release Notes.6. Make sure InfoSphere Streams is installed as a non-root account. The default

    account to use is streamsadmin.The following are the commands required to create this user is created if itdoes not already existadduser streamsadminpasswd streamsadmin

    7. Make sure you chown the files to streamsadmin if you just moved the files.8. As streamsadmin use the InfoSphere Streams dependency checker to verify if

    the IBM Java Virtual Machine is correctly configured and that all requirementsare installed:

  • cd ./dependency_checker.sh

    The standard streams installation folder is ~streamsadmin/InfoSphereStreams.If you are alerted that the following files are missingv perl-XML-Simplev ibm-java-x86_64-sdkThe files should be installed manually and can be found in the directory/rpm.To install any missing rpm run the following command:yum install .rpm

    9. Add the following lines to the .bashrc file for streamsadmin:export JAVA_HOME=/opt/ibm/java-x86_64-60export PATH=/opt/ibm/java-x86_64-60/jre/bin:$PATH

    10. Save and source the file:. ~/.bashrc

    Procedure1. As root run xhost + .2. As streamsadmin make sure the display is set up correctly with the export

    DISPLAY= command.3. Run the installer as streamsadmin:

    cd ./InfoSphereStreamsSetup.bin

    When the installation is complete the InfoSphere Streams First Steps dialog isdisplayed, which lists the set of initial configuration tasks for InfoSphereStreams.

    4. Execute the tasks as outlined in the InfoSphere Streams First Steps dialog. Ifthe dialog does not open or needs to be reopened navigate to the directory and run FirstSteps.shstreamtool genkey

    5. Add the following line to the .bashrc file for streamsadmin:. /home/streamsadmin/InfoSphereStreams/bin/streamsprofile.sh

    6. Save and source the file:. ~/.bashrc

    7. Once the InfoSphere Streams is installed, perform the following step asstreamsadmin:streamtool checkhost

    Netcool/OMNIbusNetcool/OMNIbus is an optional integration for Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance.

  • Starting the OMNIbus ObjectServerOnce Omnibus initial install is complete, some steps are needed to get theObjectServer running. This is needed before installing OMNIbus WebGUI.

    Procedure1. Change to the directory /opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/etc.2. Make a copy of the omni.dat file.

    For example, run the commendmv omni.dat omni.dat.ORIG

    3. Run the command:sed s/omnihost//g omni.dat.ORIG > omni.dat

    4. Change to the directory /opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/bin.5. Run the command:

    ./nco_igen -out /opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/etc/interfaces

    6. Change to the directory /opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/omnibus/bin.7. Run the following commands:

    ./nco_dbinit

    nohup ./nco_objserv &

    ./nco_sql -user root

    Note: Press return after entering root if your OMNIbus root user password isblank.

    8. Enter the following query:describe alerts.status;go;

    Results

    This should output a number colums in the table.

    Note: You will only see the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance columns afterOMNIbus has been configured from Analytics.

    Information required for TASP installationThe installation process for Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance requires thatyou have certain information concerning your Netcool/OMNIbus andNetcool/OMNIbus WebGUI install at the ready.

    The following table lists the Netcool/OMNIbus and Netcool/OMNIbus WebGUIinformation items that the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance installer willrequest as you pursue the installation process. It is a good practice to make note ofthese as you perform the Netcool/OMNIbus and Netcool/OMNIbus WebGUIinstallations.

    The Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance installation script allows you to installall four Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance components on a single server.

    User account considerations

    The user account that is chosen to unzip the installation package has an impact onthe user account that can be used to perform the installation. For example, if youunzip the installation package as root, you must perform the installation as root.

    The following restrictions also apply based on user account:v Only the root user can be used to pursue the install "ALL" option, which will

    install all components on one server; however, some components can beinstalled by non-root users, as described in the following points.

    v The IBM InfoSphere Streams administrator, which by default is streamsadmin,must be used to install the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance Analyticscomponent if you are not installing as root.

    v The root user must be used to install the Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance Mediation component.

    v The IBM DB2 administrator, which by default is dbuser, must be used to installthe Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance Database component if you are notinstalling as root.

    v The administrative user account used to install Tivoli Integrated Portal must beused to install the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance UI component.

    Note: Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance requires that you use a BASH shellfor the streamsadmin user.

    Installing Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance on a single serverHow to install Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance on a single server.

    Starting the installationHow to start the installation of Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance on a singleserver.

    About this task

    You can install all elements on one system or install elements on a number ofservers. This section describes how to install Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance on a single server.

    Procedure1. As root, open a terminal window on the server on which you are installing

    Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.2. Navigate to the directory containing the extracted installation package,

    /opt/TASP_software/TASP.

  • Note: This should be the folder into which you extracted the installationpackage.

    3. Enter the command tasp_installer install.A screen is displayed that allows you to pick the components you would like toinstall, listed from 1 to 5.

    The installer runs a few checks to validate the system.

    What to do next

    If you have entered a non-default username for the InfoSphere Streams adminuser, you will be prompted to enter this.

    Have all information items regarding the requirements at the ready. Theseinformation items were listed in the section Chapter 2, Installation and setup ofrequirements, on page 3.

  • Silent installationHow to install Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance in silent mode.

    About this task

    Perform the following steps to install Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Procedure1. Create a response file containing all required parameters for your installation. A

    sample response file is supplied with Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.This file, named tasp_install.rsp, can be found in the directory where youextracted the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance application bundle.

    2. Enter the command:./tasp_installer install -r

    Where:v : is the name and path location of the populated response file.

    3. Should the response file contain any passwords this should be deleted.

    What to do next

    Response files are not encrypted. Therefore it is important that you remove theresponse file once you are finished the installation or edit the response file toremove the password entries.Related concepts:Chapter 7, Installation CLI, on page 25The Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance CLI installer commands.

  • Chapter 4. Post-Installation configurationThis section lists the steps to be taken after the installation of Tivoli Analytics forService Performance.

    Configuring the User InterfaceThe Active Event List must be configured to display the Tivoli Analytics forService Performance User Interface.

    Adding the Active Event List launch scriptsAdding a context menu launch script to launch the Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance UI from the Active Event List.

    Procedure1. Log into TIP as the administrator.

    For example:https://:16311/ibm/console/logon.jsp

    2. Click Administration > Event management Tools > Menu Configuration.3. Select alerts and click Modify.4. Move the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance scripts ViewChildAlarms...

    and ServiceDiagnosis... from the left side to the right and position them inyour preferred location.

    5. Click Save.

    Note: If the Active Event List is already open, you will have to close andreopen it to see the new context menu option.

    Results

    When you right click on an entry or multiple entries within the Active Event List,you will see the ViewChildAlarms... and ServiceDiagnosis... scripts as selectableoptions in the context menu. Multiple entries can be selected by holding down theCtrl key while clicking on the rows in the Active Event List. Select the scriptViewChildAlarms... and ServiceDiagnosis... scripts to navigate to the TivoliAnalytics for Service Performance UI. Note that by default only the target KPI isdisplayed for each anomaly, and the target KPI is shown in bold.

    OMNIbus filtersTivoli Analytics for Service Performance provides a set of default filters for theActive Event List.

    The set of default filters are put in place to help you reduce the number of eventsdisplayed, and, therefore, allow you to find the events you are looking for.

    The default set of filters are:

    TASP Displays only current system anomalies identified by Tivoli Analytics forService Performance. In the case of consolidated alarms, only parent alarmswill be displayed, and child alarms are hidden.

  • TASP_UnfilteredDisplays all system anomalies identified by Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance. In the case of consolidated alarms, both and child alarms willbe displayed.

    TASP_Last24HoursDisplays only system anomalies identified by Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance that occurred within the last 24 hours.

    User administrationYou must set up and configure the correct users, roles and groups to allow accessto Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Configuring roles and groupsTivoli Integrated Portal users must be configured to have the correct roles andgroups to manage user access to Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    About this task

    Users of the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance UI must be added to a groupthat has been assigned a Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance role, that is,taspUser or taspAdmin.

    The taspUser and taspAdmin roles, and the taspUsers and taspAdmins groups areadded automatically upon installation of Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Procedure

    As tipadmin add the ncw_user role to the group taspUsers.For information on how to assign roles to groups, open the Tivoli Integrated Portalonline help and navigate to Tivoli Integrated Portal > Administrative settings >Working with roles

    Configuration of users in Tivoli Integrated PortalAny user who will be using the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance UI mustbe assigned one of the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance roles or groups.

    Before you begin

    The Tivoli Integrated Portal Administrator can add users through the Users &Groups function in the navigation pane.

    About this task

    For example, to assign a user to the taspUsers group:

    Procedure1. Log in as the Tivoli Integrated Portal admin user, for example tipadmin.2. Click Users & Groups > Manage Groups.3. Select the user for which you wish to give Tivoli Analytics for Service

    Performance access.4. Assign the group taspUsers to the selected user.

  • Analytics folder maintenanceSchedule a maintenance job that compresses old topic files.

    About this task

    The purpose of this task is to set up and schedule a maintenance job thatcompresses files in the analytics folder which are 2 days old and over.

    This task describes how to schedule the maintenance job using cron, but you canuse any scheduling application.

    To add the maintenance cron job:

    On the analytics server, add the following to the streamsadmin cron table:find $TASP_HOME/var/spool/topics/good/ALL -mtime 2-type f -name "*.csv" |xargs gzip

    Where:$TASP_HOME is the install location of the analytics component.

    Results

    This action finds files that have not been modified in two days and compressesthem.

    The following elements are in place and ready to use when Tivoli Analytics forService Performance installation is complete:v Two default user roles (TASP_Admin and TASP_User) are created in Tivoli

    Integrated Portal.v The Tivoli Integrated Portal administrator (usually tipadmin) is given both roles.v An ALL analytic instance topic is created.v All supplied algorithm templates are installed.v The following algorithm instance is created:

    GrangerDetectionInstance1v The administration CLI is directly usable by the Linux user account that

    performed the installation, that is, the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performanceaccount, which is usually streamsadmin.

    v If OMNIbus integration is enabled during installation: OMNIbus columns are created in the Object Server. An OMNIbus mini-distribution is installed transparently as part of Tivoli

    Analytics for Service Performance. The probe configuration files are updated to configure the connection to the

    Object Server. A default set of probe rules file are installed. The rules file stores all relevant

    attributes in the Object Server database. The right-click context menu has been configured in the OMNIbus WebGUI

    during the UI component installation.

    There are a few preparatory steps that must be carried out before you proceedwith uninstallation, these are also described in this section.

    About this task

    The order of uninstallation must be the following:1. UI2. Analytics3. Database

    Perform the following steps to uninstall Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Procedure1. Navigate to the directory into which you originally extracted the installation

    package, for example, the /var/install directory.2. Enter the command:

    Perform the following steps to uninstall Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    Procedure1. Navigate to the directory into which you originally extracted the installation

    package, for example, the /var/install directory.2. Create a response file containing all required parameters for your

    uninstallation. A sample response file is supplied with Tivoli Analytics forService Performance. This file, named tasp_install.rsp, can be found in thedirectory where you extracted the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performanceapplication bundle.

    3. Enter the command:tasp_installer uninstall -r

    Note: For the full set of uninstall CLI options, see uninstall.Where:v : is the path location and name of the populated response

    file.4. Should the response file contain any passwords this should be deleted.

    What to do next

    Response files are not encrypted. Therefore it is important that you remove theresponse file once you are finished the uninstallation or edit the response file toremove the password entries.

    Post uninstallation tasksThe tasks that must be completed to ensure a clean uninstallation of the TivoliAnalytics for Service Performance system.

    After you have completed the uninstallation of Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance it is important that you also remove all external configurations thatwere implemented for Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    An example of external configuration is that of adding a context menu script tolaunch the Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance UI from the Active Event List.If you implemented this configuration option, you can remove it by following thesteps in the next section.

    Note: If the Active Event List is already open, you will have to close andreopen it to see that the context menu option has been removed.

    The script is removed from your system.

    To run the available CLI commands you must first perform the following steps:1. Log in as root or as the user with permission to uninstall the targeted

    component.

    2. Navigate to the directory into which you originally extracted the installationpackage, for example, the /var/install directory.

    3. Execute the relevant command.

    Purpose

    This command is used to install or uninstall Tivoli Analytics for ServicePerformance. This can be performed in interactive mode or in silent mode. Silentmode requires that you fill out a response file containing all required installationparameters.

    Parametersinstall

    Specifies that you want to install Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    uninstallSpecifies that you want to uninstall Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance.

    -r Specifies that the install is to be performed in silent mode and use thespecified response file.

    The response file containing all the installation parameters required to run theinstallation in silent mode.

    This sample installs Tivoli Analytics for Service Performance in normal interactivemode:tasp_installer install
