Photo Walk – Orange
Refresh your photo skills or learn something new with a pro photographer in historic Old Town Orange.
Meet at the fountain in Orange Plaza at The Circle of Orange, site of the famous annual Chapman University
Undie Run, and do a brief review of how our cameras work and answer photography "how to" questions. We'll
begin our photo walk through Old Towne, where several popular movies were filmed. Historic buildings and sites
will be the background for our lively and interactive experience. Along the way you will learn tips and tricks for
creating amazing images with your camera, learn to understand light, experiment with macro, motion,
architecture and people photography. I will photograph you during this experience so you will have lasting
memories of your time in the O.C. We'll end at a favorite spot for a snack and beverage, discuss what we
learned and relive our best shots.

Photo Walk – Monarch Butterfly Migration by train
Journey by Amtrak train to witness and photograph the Monarch butterfly migration on the Central Coast –
Grover Beach. This one-day event includes guide, healthy breakfast, water, and photography instruction.
We start our journey aboard the early morning Amtrak train in Santa Ana. Your host will greet you with a healthy
breakfast bag for the 5 1/2-hour trip north on the Pacific Surfliner through Los Angeles and along the coast.
After the train departs the Los Angeles station, your host will help you set up your camera and prepare for the
afternoon photography as well as answer any photo questions you have. After disembarking at the Grover
Beach station, we will walk less than one mile to the Monarch Butterfly Grove, where observation and
photography will awe the pants off ya! Scheduled docent talks will teach you about Butterfly behavior, their
migration, and what you can do to help preserve the population. In addition to the awe-inspiring Butterfly
grove, you can also fill the time on site (two hours on weekends, four hours weekdays) with a short hike to the
beach and enjoy the surf and ocean air. There are several restaurants within close walking distance where you
can enjoy a meal before boarding the train for the return trip. We board the southbound train at 4:30 pm and
wind down the day reviewing our pictures, relaxing and rejoicing that we avoided the vehicle traffic on the
freeway.
