Term 4 Week 1 Monday 14th October 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back for what will be a fabulous Term 4. Please check our term planner to assist you to keep track of all
the busy things that will be happening this term.
Firstly, congratulations to Miss Robinson, who was married during the holidays, and is now known as Mrs Langford.
What a wonderful garden bed display presented by our school at the Living Smart Festival on the first weekend of
the school holidays. We received a special mention from the garden guru himself, Costa Georgiadis. Thank you to
Mrs McKensey, Mrs Addis, Mrs Payne and Miss Tinsey for attending on the day.
Thank you to everyone who visited the school during the Open Gardens & Art Trail on the weekend and to our P&C
volunteers for supporting this event. A special thanks to our Garden Coordinators, Mrs McKensey and Mrs Addis,
for their ongoing work.
Healthy Harold and the Life Education van will be at school this week. All classes will have their visit relating to a
variety of units to support our PD/Health/PE curriculum. Thank you to Mrs Payne for organising this.
Our next P & C Meeting will be held this Wednesday night, 16th October at 7pm in the staffroom. Please do come
along if you can.
Many thanks to those families who have completed our 2019 Tell Them From Me Parent Survey. The survey will
close on 25th October 2019. The Tell Them From Me survey is an important part of our school planning processes
and assists our school to better serve our community needs. The link for the survey is: http://
nsw.tellthemfromme.com/cpps2019 It would be greatly appreciated if you would log in and complete the survey at
your earliest convenience. This can be done on any device.
Our School Run 4 Fun Colour Explosion will be held on Saturday 9th November in our school grounds. Our
fundraising has been going really well, and we thank our community for getting behind this event. All of our
fundraising efforts will be going towards purchasing new technology, iPads and robotics. Please encourage your
family and friends to help us make this our best fundraiser ever!!! Don’t forget to get your white T-Shirt ready for the
big day!
It would be appreciated if you could let us know ASAP if your child / children will not be returning to Coal Point PS
next year. We currently have many Kinder students for 2019 and are chasing the installation of a demountable. It is
imperative that we have close estimates of student numbers to ensure we will be eligible for the new building and
resources.
If you are considering applying for a Selective High School for your child for Year 7 2021, applications are now open
and close at 10pm on Monday 11th November 2019. Applications must be lodged before the deadline at https://
education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7
There will be NO Primary Choir this Thursday, Primary Choir will re-commence next Thursday at 8am.
School Banking will be collected this Thursday morning.
A reminder to all band students that this Friday will be the last rehearsal before Bandfest next Wednesday, so it is
most important for all students to attend and bring your instrument.
Kind regards,
Ms Kim Creswell - Principal
We are still accepting donations of plastic bottle caps for our artwork. Please hand in at the office. Thank you.

A big thank you to everyone who came to support and vote for our school's sustainable garden bed display at the Living Smart Festival. It was a fabulous day, topped off by Costa Georgiadis giving Coal Point Public School a special mention for our garden and providing a signed copy of the latest Gardening Australia magazine. A special thanks must go to Mrs McKensey and Mrs Addis for their efforts to support the teachers and students in developing the garden bed. It was a great example of the successful teamwork of students, parents and teachers that occurs at CPPS.
